it is a known fact people have admitted in here to using a postal vote, then going to the polls as well..!

Well, that casts doubts over the legitimacy of the majority in the 2016 refendum then!

CaptainSquirrel · 22/03/2019 11:37

I think mummy2017 is confusing the UK with Russia. It's easily done: just ask Putin.

Hoolahoophop · 22/03/2019 11:41

Emailing no 10 really is therapeutic!

Will have a go at my local MP (pro Hard Brexit) next and ask if he will be available to break the news of redundancies in my business should the current mess make them necessary.

GiantKitten · 22/03/2019 11:41

Have you ever actually voted? I don’t know what you think you’ve read on here but how do you imagine they could do that?

When you have a postal vote you’re not on the list at the polling station for a personal vote, so you can’t be given a voting slip (they log the voting slip number against the name), so you can’t vote there Hmm

BlackeyedGruesome · 22/03/2019 11:44

2,971,394

Choccyp1g · 22/03/2019 11:59

There is one fact that might support the Russian Bots involvement,

Below the graphs it shows the actual number (2.9m) and then the "percentage in UK constituencies" at 42%

Looking at all the other petitions, the percentages in UK constituencies are nearly all around 95%

MigGril · 22/03/2019 12:03

I have been known to drop my postal vote off at the polling station as I've been to late to post it. But this you are allowed to do and they often have a box for them.
However you can't vote again as they won't give you a voting slip.

stayathomegardener · 22/03/2019 12:04

Just clarifying little dog hasn't signed yet, sticking to his slogan coat.

Hope picture loads.

Given that Brexit will have a massive impact on "The 3 million" - the British currently living in the EU - it is to be expected that they would be represented disproportionately but legitimately on this petition - and they would show up as overseas Smile. Plus of course the Gibraltarians Wink

Songsofexperience · 22/03/2019 12:08

Russian Bots involvement

Arggggh the Russian want us OUT!
Not just for money laundering but also more importantly to destabilise Europe and regain influence in the former Soviet states now EU members.

Wasn't Banks promised a Russian gold mine?

Peregrina · 22/03/2019 12:09

Vote now at 3,008,594. So it must have passed the 3 million mark sometime around midday or just before.

prettybird · 22/03/2019 12:14

It was just before Smile, judging by the time of the update on @ultrabutt (which I follow to track the petition rather than overloading the Petitions website)

SoloD · 22/03/2019 12:15

@Choccyp1g
If you look at the JSON file at the bottom the data is about 36 hours out of date. I think they have switched of functionality on the website to stop it crashing.

The people who run the website also remove signatures which they believe are fake, the previous which got 4 million signatures had a as I rec all around 70k signatures removed.

So it could be much more then?? Like 4 or 5?

Choccyp1g · 22/03/2019 12:22

prettybird, yes I agree, you'd expect more ex-pats and general Europeans to be signing this petition, along with for example the one about the Irish border.

Also it may be that the allocating of post codes to constituencies is running way behind the simple head-count.

I really hope the system can strip out any bot nonsense so that this massive petition is taken seriously.

Choccyp1g · 22/03/2019 12:22

Over 3 million now!!!

lonelyplanetmum · 22/03/2019 12:25

I wish people would stop casting doubt on the limited means the 48% (+) have of showing a voice.

The 52% (-) have had a monopoly an exclusive focus on a way for their wishes to be voiced for three years.

A petition even with some imprecision shows a volume of discontent for the rest of us. As well as having lost are we allowed no voice either?

Yes there's a margin of error in all petitions of what a few thousand maybe? Yes a few signatures may be from a 2 year old Russian hamster.

BUT most of the 3 million of the signatures are authentic and it's a small way of having a voice.

Melroses · 22/03/2019 12:25

They are only updating the signature count every half hour or so, then people can sign. The map does not seem to have changed for quite a while, so that is probably why there is a large discrepancy between the signature and the constituencies.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 22/03/2019 12:31

school children all said they have signed it, so the figures are distorted

It’s their futures that are being fucked why shouldn’t they protest.

MidnightMystery · 22/03/2019 12:37

Signed and shared!

3,047,041 consistent with the map.

prettybird · 22/03/2019 12:39

The government although I don't know why we call them that as they are hardly governing apparently double checked the first petition (just after the Referendum) which got to over 4 million over its 6 month life span. It did indeed reduce the overall total - but not significantly.

NunoGoncalves · 22/03/2019 12:45

A petition even with some imprecision shows a volume of discontent for the rest of us

The problem is, as a PP mentioned, that it only shows that 3 million people don't want to leave the EU. Well, we already know that 17 million people didn't want to leave the EU. So what's new?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 22/03/2019 12:48

One of the threads today, school children all said they have signed it, so the figures are distorted

There’s no age limit on the site and it’s their bloody future we’re talking about.

I’m sure school children can sigh the other petition should they wish to.

DD is at University in Europe and she’s signed.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 22/03/2019 12:50

How do I address TM when I send my email to No10?
