Thanks!

Graphista · 21/03/2019 17:42

Took over 12 hours till I got my confirmation email. So if you've not had yours yet don't despair.

"Looking at how Brexit is reported abroad is eye-opening for how others see us now - a mixture of contempt and pity." And utter bewilderment at the whole farce.

Disclaimer - I'm no mathematician

But I THINK it would take 7-8 days? In brexit terms "cutting it fucking fine!"

Mathematicians?

Wondering if question time & last leg will be discussing petition, hope so.

But more to the point when will it be discussed in parliament? Is it already being?

"Is everyone sharing on social media as well?" I only do FB and Twitter I've shared there, several friends already shared and urging people to sign. Interesting lack of reaction from those I know to be leavers.

"Get it to fucking 19 million!" That would be brilliant! And show it's NOT the will of the people of course, or certainly not now!

"Everyone knows Remain was voted for by the elite and well off." Rubbish! I'm disabled & on benefits and voted remain and I live in a deprived area that voted remain too!

"Where does that leave parliament then? Are they all thick?" They've hardly displayed much sense on the matter "not understanding" the issues with Calais - Dover and the Irish border! And those that have shown sense are extremely well off to the point they're able to MAKE a LOT of money if we leave by immoral disaster capitalism bollocks!

"I cannot imagine for one second how you think crashing out of the EU will improve your life, on benefits" absolutely this! The EU provide a buffer against the tories making even worse, more punitive "austerity" deliberate impoverishment policies which will most affect those of us worst off. The well off have the money to manage whatever happens.

"People on benefits won't feel much of a hit." Seriously?! It's not just reduced income it's increased bills! Predicted MINIMUM 20% increased food prices alone! If you're really on benefits I'm shocked you're not concerned about this. I bloody am!

"They are literally the enemy of the ordinary man." Exactly!!

"Lol, and what happens when a million people on benefits which are revoked start looting?" They tried to avoid invoking anger in the less well off by telling them they'd be better off and assuming they'd buy it, because actually they assumed the less well off were the thick ones! Which of course is ridiculous! Poverty isn't about being academically unable it's down to luck!

Civil unrest doesn't even come out of anger - it comes from fear! People scared they can't medicate or feed their loved ones or themselves are FAR more likely to riot than well off people who simply lost a slim opportunity to make even more money!

As for the shockingly blatant and unnecessary racist posts! HOW so many have been left standing when a few have been deleted (so clearly Mnhq have had a look) there are no words. Just utterly ridiculous bigotry.

Lulujakey - all you are unhappy about is directly down to this tory govt, genuine question why do you think leaving the eu will improve things given there would be FEWER restrictions on what this govt will do to the less favoured parts of the country?

WordsAndWorlds · 21/03/2019 17:42

signed but no confirmation email

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 21/03/2019 17:44

Signed from abroad.

SileneOliveira · 21/03/2019 17:45

I've tried to sign it. Still waiting for the "email verification" thingy. Must be overhwlemed.

Bluntness100 · 21/03/2019 17:46

1 million one hundred and forty six thousand signatures now..

SoMuchToBits · 21/03/2019 17:48

1 150 160 when I signed just now.

NunoGoncalves · 21/03/2019 17:50

I'm curious as to what people think this will achieve? Even if it gets 10 million signatures! Do you think the politicians will pay any attention?

anonymousbird · 21/03/2019 17:51

Did this petition only open yesterday? I went to sign last night, and eventually got an email saying I had already signed but I can't have done if it is new??

TheABC · 21/03/2019 17:54

@nunoGoncalves, Andrea Leadsome said she would pay attention if it hit over 17 million signatures.Grin

TBH, I don't think it will change the ERG or May's opinion, but it will give weight to the emergency motion being tabled next week. It's also with noting that the senior Tory's are openly recruiting for the PMs job. I think it's going to change very rapidly.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/03/2019 17:55

That's an easy question.

It says "Revoke article 50 and stay in the EU" on the tin. So I rather hope that's what it's in there as well.

RockyFlintstone · 21/03/2019 17:58

Just to say, check your junk/spam as these petition emails often go in there (for me anyway).

Brexshitfuuuuuuuck · 21/03/2019 17:58

Mine was hours later.

SaskiaRembrandt · 21/03/2019 18:16

Signed but the confirmation email hasn't turned up yet.

Purposeless · 21/03/2019 18:23

Rocky is right - my confirmation email went to the junk folder.

PandaPolarBear · 21/03/2019 18:29

My email took hours to arrive, and was in the junk folder when it did eventually show up... don't give up!

1,217,224 when I finally confirmed mine.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/03/2019 18:34

DHs email still not here, he also signed another petition, the one about making it illegal to netting put netting on hedges to prevent birds from nesting, and that's not arrived either.

Hippogator · 21/03/2019 18:52

Just had my email even though
I sent the form hours ago. Number 1,260,287!

Bluntness100 · 21/03/2019 18:58

Thr site is still dropping out, so demand is still high, if it is shared enough then it could really end up akin to the people holding their own referendum and literally be unignorable.

It's a shocking state of affairs if that's what has to happen.

Fresta · 21/03/2019 19:07

My email went to junk- so check there!

wittyusermane · 21/03/2019 19:13

My husband's email came though a few minutes ago. Took approx 3 hours.

PJLove80 · 21/03/2019 19:13

It just keeps saying bad gateway - I am getting really frustrated

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/03/2019 19:14

Just watching the Channel 4 news.
Most of the European leaders seem to think we are heading towards a No Deal Brexit.
Even the Europeans are sick of Brexit and want to move onto other things.

LizzieMacQueen · 21/03/2019 19:18

My email came to junk.

People are getting home from work now, I imagine there is a big influx of people wanting to sign.
