Westminstenders: Stuck in the Middle With TIGGERS

Well I don't know how we got here tonight.
We've got the feeling that something ain't right.
We're so scared as we leave the EU
And we're wondering how we'll get out of this stew

Antisemites to the left of me!
Dog Whistles to the right!
Here I am stuck in the middle whilst we leave the EU.

'Cause I'm stuck in the middle whilst we leave the EU.
And I'm wondering what it is we should do.
It's so hard to keep this smile from my face.
Losing control and running all over the place.

Clowns to the left of me!
Jokers to the right!
Here I am stuck in the middle whilst we leave the EU.

When you started off with rights
And you're starting to wonder if thats for life.
And all the politicians come crawling
Slap you on the back and say
Please . . .
Please . . .
Vote Leave and back EU Withdrawal

But we see it makes no sense at all.

Best to keep your money offshore
Than to visit the bookstore

Deniers to the left of me!
Islamaphobes to the right!
Here I am stuck in the middle with you.

Its finally happened. FINALLY.

MPs have seen that their leaders have lost the plot and are hell bent on destruction and politicial ideology ahead of practicality and will justify the unjustifable in the face of democracy and they have jumped ship.

Enter stage left and stage right: The TIGGERS - members of The Independent Group.

Will there be more. Hard to say no. It seems almost certain there will be more.

Will it make a difference? Difficult to call, but these MPs would be driven out sooner or later. Such is our accelerating politicial polarisation and narrowing of views. This is their last stand. They have nothing left to lose on a personal level.

Whether you agree with the TIGGERS or still look to the other parties for policy, I do think that the emergence of the TIGGERS marks a feeling of optimism and much needed hope for many many Remainers / Moderates, even if it ultimately does fizzle out.

A reflection from 2017: People voted for Corbyn because they were looking for Hope. When he's failed to deliver that, its led to disillusionment and he can not pull the same trick again at a future GE. This makes that doubly so. People are STILL very much looking for that hope. If Brexit does go tits up in a big fashion, then what happens? To what direction do people look? I'm sure there will be the bitterest of recriminations, but... hope is a big deal. We need something...

Tick tick tick. 37 days til Brexit.

Thanks why. I’m new to twitter, so still getting used to it. Now following their official account.

mrslaughan · 20/02/2019 19:55

@BambooBoobam - I seem to be able to see it - maybe it was temporary?

ChiaraRimini · 20/02/2019 19:56

Tory party working hard to accommodate views of Soubry et al is just like my ex husband thinking he worked hard at our marriage ie delusional

frumpety · 20/02/2019 20:00

Speaking of delusional , chatting to a bloke in the pub last night, and he was of the opinion that the civil service have it all sorted out behind the scenes. Spoke to a relative at the weekend, high end civil service, nobody knows what is happening, nobody. Was actually hoping that he would be able to allay some fears, but no, it really is as fucked up as it appears.

37 days to go.

Sostenueto · 20/02/2019 20:00

Junker not expecting any breakthroughs apparently........... Tell us something new then!Angry

BigChocFrenzy · 20/02/2019 20:00

😂😂

BigChocFrenzy · 20/02/2019 20:01

Sorry, just read the Hatton suspension GrinGrinGrin

bellinisurge · 20/02/2019 20:02

Hatton suspension- once a twat, always a twat.

67chevvyimpala · 20/02/2019 20:04

Oh that Derek Hatton news has cheered me up no end 😂

Sostenueto · 20/02/2019 20:06

Think the 3 amigos may have shot themselves in the foot by attacking Tories so forcefully ( even though they were right to do so) because tribal politics will mean they will gather round more tightly now. They will not JC win cos the minute TMs slim majority whittles away JC will be in his rights to call a GE if he ends up with majority or HoC numbers in opposition are more than governments.

Skirmisher · 20/02/2019 20:06

All that Steven Woolfe idiot has ever achieved is to get knocked out cold by a fellow UKIP twat.

Sostenueto · 20/02/2019 20:07

And half the labour MPs don't want JC to lead them either so I'm not holding my breathe for anymore jumping tiggers appearing on the horizon.

MadAboutWands · 20/02/2019 20:07

PMK

Skirmisher · 20/02/2019 20:08

Re. Derek Hatton. Do you think Labour HQ were surprised by the amount of blowback they got on allowing him back in to the party and this is them backpedalling desperately? Even Barry Gardiner (who I normally can't stand) was very outspoken and angry about it today.

Sostenueto · 20/02/2019 20:10

Hatten is hilarious, I'd laugh even louder if it wasn't such a mess for labour party.

Butterymuffin · 20/02/2019 20:12

Interesting though that lots of Tories have said conciliatory things about hoping to welcome them back one day, in spite of Allen and Soubry saying they wouldn't go back ever when asked. Very different to Corbyn's tone. But both sides could find they need TIG on board if they end up holding the balance of power in a hung parliament.

BigChocFrenzy · 20/02/2019 20:12

frumpety All sorted ? Maybe that bloke in the pub should read a bit, e.g.

Health groups warn Brexit drugs supply risk at code ‘red’

www.politico.eu/article/brexit-medicines-health-groups-warn-brexit-drugs-supply-risk-at-code-red/

NHS providers, companies and patient groups warn of ‘widespread shortages’ if there’s no Brexit deal.

The U.K. government’s preparations for maintaining drug supplies in the event of a no-deal Brexit are so lacking that the warning level should be raised to “red,”
a group of health organizations has said.

National Health Service providers, pharmaceutical companies and patient groups wrote to the government to warn that Britain is seriously unprepared to maintain access to medicines if there are border delays after Brexit

RosinaAlmaviva · 20/02/2019 20:12

I'm more often seen on the royal threads. Up till now, the Tig meant Meghan Markle's lifestyle blog to me. I'm in a whole new world this week.

In other news, I'm not sure that the government's attempts to deal with possible medicine shortages post-Brexit are going too well:

Sostenueto · 20/02/2019 20:12

Bumbling Gardiner makes me laugh, he's so not a poster boy for labourGrin

I wonder if David Miliband is sitting across the pond wishing he were still in Westminster?

Sostenueto · 20/02/2019 20:18

If DM had any sense he would run full speed in opposite directionSmile

BigChocFrenzy · 20/02/2019 20:21

red re Brits rights in Europe:

My understanding is that the amendment is instructing the govt to separate that bit out of the WA and make it a separate agreement before Brexit.
The EU would have no reason not to sign.

BUT - tick tock
I don't know if there is time to make a legal agreement out of it before 28 March.

The legal draftsmen could literally just copy all the expat bits out of the WA,
but the text would still have to be agreed by both sides.
I don't know if the EU Commission would have the authority to make that law, or if it would have to go to the E27 heads of govt and the EP

Hello Rosina. I sometimes look at a Royal thread but they’re a bit intimidating with their arcane knowledge of European royalty. Are those the ones you mean? But nice dresses and jewellery.
