We are STILL on collision course for no deal.

Christmas is here, and whilst we might appreciate the respite from Brexit News, its really a luxury we can't afford.

The meaningful vote is scheduled for January.

Chaos is scheduled for shortly after.

I wish you all a happy and enjoyable Christmas.

Rushing to PMK.

Thanks again, RTB, and hope you have a good Christmas. I'll also wish you glad tidings of great joy for 2019 - well, we've had 3 shit years on the trot, so we're due some good news.

Hazardswan · 18/12/2018 14:39

Any one know what time the no confidence, non binding, not particularly helpful vote is happening today?

Not that I'm a weirdo whose planning their life around Westminster drama... I just can't catch up quick enough after it happens.

EtVoilaBrexit · 18/12/2018 14:40

Place mat king

{Oh it's OK, phew etc, 3,500 armed forces will be on standby. No need to panic.}

While I admit that France is nearly double the land area but similar population to the UK but to attempt to keep the Gilets Jaunes 'contained' they have had a police/army force of 90,000 on the streets.
I would see the EU 'no deal' plans as repatriating anyone and anything that feels the need, plus essential business deals that are in the EU interest. The UK wants out, it can have out.

Whilst this will sound awful, this is (And has always been) part if my plan.
As a third country, if things really go tits upand close what could be a civil unrest, countries do repatriate their citizens. This would be my last chance scenario.

GD12 · 18/12/2018 14:45

Hazardswan, it's not happening. The govt wouldn't allow time for it.

1tisILeClerc · 18/12/2018 14:46

I am afraid that to me if only 62 MPs are that interested in preventing a 'no deal' leave and the others aren't even that bothered it does say that the UK needs to be out of the EU.
Maybe they think that no deal means no cake but they can have chocolate biscuits instead?

Hazardswan · 18/12/2018 14:49

GD12 wwwhaaat? I thought it was...but that was yesterday. Last I heard JC was threatening full NC if they didn't debate it asap so they were going to debate it.

I cannot keep up but thank you for keeping me on track.

GD12 · 18/12/2018 14:51

Hazardswan. The govt said they wouldn't allow time and JC backed down on a full vote of no confidence because they'd lose it. So nothing now and we drift to no deal.

1tisILeClerc · 18/12/2018 14:52

If you consider the billions that have been spent on this madness and the billions more that will need to be spent to reconfigure trade routes etc, pile it on top of a country that hasn't recovered from the 2008 bank crisis AND is about to lose a significant chunk of industry and inward investment things could look rosier you might say. Defaulting on the GFA and the TIPP? agreements which could allow the UK to be sued by Japan, the USA and many other countries for failure to uphold trade agreements.........

EtVoilaBrexit · 18/12/2018 14:58

Wo forgetting the fact many experts are saying we will face a new major economic crisis soon....

lonelyplanetmum · 18/12/2018 15:00

According to Sky News, they are going to send out info to the general public about No Deal. But "not on Christmas Day".

That's a shame the Queen could read out a summary of key points instead of the usual speech. Would make a change. As good as a rest and all that.

Violetparis · 18/12/2018 15:02

MPs who are not part of the 62 asking for no deal to be taken off the table would include those who want it as an option in a second referendum, I have no idea why they would risk this.

jasjas1973 · 18/12/2018 15:09

Government ministers are talking as if this some sort of external threat and they are preparing for no deal IF the UN peace talks to fend of the Russian blockade fail.

...and all the fucking media are all going along with it...unbelievable.

Just announced by Defense Secretary 3500 troops are being placed on standby, for reassurance purposes only!

this is like something out of a fucking novel.

Bagadverts · 18/12/2018 15:15

PMK Thanks Red what a mess Xmas Sad

WilburforceRaven · 18/12/2018 15:17

These people couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

Unbelievable.

turnipsaretheonlyveg · 18/12/2018 15:37

When this Brexit stuff started and I said to work friends we would be going overseas for a few years while we worked out what was happening they thought we were rather nuts. Now these same friends are gently stock piling food and medicines as if we were starting a war and soldiers are on standby for civil unrest.
Why would we do this to our country?

She’s trying to spook soft Brexiters and Remainers with the threat of no deal.

She’s trying to spook hard Brexiters with the threat of a second referendum.

Theresa May is trying to force her Brexit deal by surpressing parliamentary sovereignty and people’s right to democracy.

ElenadeClermont · 18/12/2018 16:00

DS(10) is also planning for our repatriation. To a country where he never lived. Xmas Angry Thanks lovely ILs.

MayYourBrexitbeMerryandBright · 18/12/2018 16:07

Why would we do this to our country?

Why indeed. I can't decide if May is mad or bad.

DGRossetti · 18/12/2018 16:09

DS(10) is also planning for our repatriation. To a country where he never lived.

Best wishes Sad.

I wonder if history will record the Brexit diaspora ? I'm of an age where I can recall the 70s "brain drain" ....

Loletta · 18/12/2018 16:24

Should I be writing to my MP? What should
I say? I live in a marginal Labour/Lib Dem constituency that voted 70% for Remain. Current MP is Labour and very pro EU.

bellinisurge · 18/12/2018 16:30

Write to your MP. Make them tell you exactly what they are doing to avoid No Deal.
I wrote to mine a while ago and got Labour's six tests bollocks. I've written again. I didn't refer to the aforementioned bollocks because it isn't worthy of further discussion. We'll see.
