We are STILL on collision course for no deal.

Christmas is here, and whilst we might appreciate the respite from Brexit News, its really a luxury we can't afford.

The meaningful vote is scheduled for January.

Chaos is scheduled for shortly after.

I wish you all a happy and enjoyable Christmas.

Is it still going on?
Who will be first to let off a stink bomb or maybe throw a custard tart?

1tisILeClerc · 19/12/2018 15:29

On the basis he is a man, and stupid, yes I would say.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/12/2018 15:30

The EU are trying with us aren't they. But that's a whole lot of not very good news.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/12/2018 15:30

Excellent LeClerc.

RedToothBrush · 19/12/2018 15:31

Iain Anderson @iainwanderson
I’m told HMG now readying a mass consumer campaign to get people ready for no deal #Brexit - full blown consumer website and campaign ready for mid January

Its now official policy isn't it?

Fgs, an MP implying that all eu citizens are wife beaters is ok.
MPs putting Scottish people/MPs down because they are Scottish is ok.
The PM having a xenophobic discourse is ok.
Driving the country to a No Deal and making people poorer in the process is ok.
Implementing UC despite the fact it’s against human rights.
Having 120.000 persons dying unnecessarily because of ‘austerity measures’ is ok.
Taking the risk of people dying because of he NonDeal (suicides, no medicines on the top of a run down NHS) is ok.
But muttering two words that people aren’t quite sure he said anyway is creating uproar.

Can someone tell them to get their priorities right 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

BiglyBadgers · 19/12/2018 15:35

Its now official policy isn't it?

It's certainly seeming that way, but you know Corbyn called May stupid so everyone can talk about that instead.

Gosh, I'm in a bit of a rage today.

EtVoilaBrexit · 19/12/2018 15:37

Well thanks to the EU measures, maybe we might at least not see totally empty shelves.

indistinct · 19/12/2018 15:42

Not sure about that ... I think they're limiting the worst impacts to the EU (e.g. financial clearing services) while they put alternative arrangements in place. All UK exports will have 3rd country customs and tariffs applied from 30/3 which will jam Calais and other EU ports, preventing the cycle of containers and lorries coming back to the UK - not sure that we won't see food shortages if no-deal happens. Perhaps being overly pessimistic.

RedToothBrush · 19/12/2018 15:43

BBC Parliament @BBCParliament
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn now addressing MPs about the alleged comments made during PMQs. He says he said "stupid people". "I did not use the words 'stupid woman' about the prime minister," he says.

In other breaking news: I'm the pope. Honest gov.

When would the by-election be?

EtVoilaBrexit · 19/12/2018 15:47

Found on twitter. It summarises well how I feel atm re the White Paper in Immigration
Javid: 'uk has a proud history of being an open and welcoming country'.
What a laugh - proud history:
Exporting its own citizens as slaves to americas, windrush, refugees refused entry/expelled, visas refused for long term citizens, families split.
UKGov, the jokes keep on coming

RedToothBrush · 19/12/2018 15:47

Typically 6 weeks after a resignation.

I bet she tries to stay on, and there is lots of blathering about having the support of the Labour Party.

And accusations of racism by large parts of twitter.

I'm tired of all this bullshit.

Jessica Elgot @jessicaelgot
how bad could a military coup be, really, at this stage?

This is probably not a well considered tweet from a journalist but yeah... they are ALL stupid women and stupid men.

Emma Hutchinson @ITVEmmaH
Labour have removed whip from Peterborough MP Fiona Onasanya and say she should resign her seat @itvanglia

OP posts:
RedToothBrush · 19/12/2018 15:51

And in reply to Jessica Elgot

Francis Elliott @elliotttimes
You’re coming round. Splendid. Might you take responsibility for seizing bridges?

This might be intended as a joke, but its pretty serious when journalists are making jokes like this...

RedToothBrush · 19/12/2018 15:52

About Corbyn

Tim Shipman @ShippersUnbound
“I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky...”

sigh

{Having 120.000 persons dying unnecessarily because of ‘austerity measures’ is ok.}
Do you have a reference for this please? I am not questioning but would like to see what else was said about it.
So far about 60 or so 'preparation' notices from UK gov in my inbox today. All saying 'IF we leave without a deal', where are all the notices saying what needs to be done with a WA or revoke?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 19/12/2018 16:00

Peterborough Labour MP Fiona Onasanya found guilty of perverting the course of justice

Although Onasanya has been found guilty and suspended from the Labour party, she may end up remaining as an MP.

www.newstatesman.com/politics/elections/2018/12/peterborough-labour-mp-fiona-onasanya-found-guilty-perverting-course

An MP is only automatically kicked out of the Commons if they are sentenced to longer than 12 months in prison. Onasanya’s crime carries a minimum tariff of three months and a maximum of 38. Chris Huhne, who was convicted for a similar offence, submitted a guilty plea and was sentenced to eight months but voluntarily resigned his seat.

If Onasanya chose to resign or faced a jail term of more than a year, it would open up a finely-balanced contest in a marginal seat which voted heavily to leave the European Union in the immediate run-up to Brexit

Hmm
Westministenders: Its Really Not Getting Any Better Is It?
bellinisurge · 19/12/2018 16:03

@Hazardswan - the more of them that say this the more powerful the message grows. Enough of this shit. If you want to leave you should accept the shitty WA or, we don't leave. No Deal is NOT an option.

BiglyBadgers · 19/12/2018 16:06

I doubt that the government will openly say they are aiming for no deal. They will just stop pursuing about any other option while letting the clock tick down and then we will get some rousing speeches in March about the will of the people and sovereignty and whatnot before dropping out.
