Corbyn - We can't stop Brexit

Corbyn (just let me remind you all that his highest educational attainment was two Es at A level) has been interviewed by a German Newspaper Der Speigel.

In it he was asked about Brexit, his response was this.

“We can’t stop it,” he said. “The referendum took place. Article 50 has been triggered. What we can do is recognize the reasons why people voted Leave.”

Leaving aside the fact that yes we can stop Brexit at any time. Does that not clearly show where his thinking is that. He is a Brexiteer, he is on the same side as Farage, JRM, Boris etc. And we will do serious damage to this country AGAINST the wish of the majority of people.

The question is what will Labour MPs do?

Have you ever considered that Labour's policies under Corbyn appeal to people? Its not all about Brexit.

But we are specifically talking about Brexit.

As bellini said, the issue is that it’s not about party politics.

KennDodd · 11/11/2018 21:56

Just read first couple of pages. Is there anybody still saying how great Brexit will be?

bellinisurge · 11/11/2018 21:56

You can count left wing Eurosceptic MPs on one hand. Fuckers are everywhere that I can see round here.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/11/2018 21:56

Where I live is solid Labour. As in a super safe seat. And solid Leave. Riddle me that one?

er, it might help explain Corbyn's reluctance to campaign against Brexit post referendum.

Coffeist · 11/11/2018 21:58

When you look at the chaos that the government is in, and what is main opposition party doing - how incapable are JC and Labour. It's probably fine for the very leftist but anyone in the centre ground, it's depressing times. Sad

bellinisurge · 11/11/2018 22:00

Tory fucking civil war that Corbyn is letting go on because he sees an electoral advantage.
What could he do, I hear you say? Telling people the Project fucking reality of Brexit that is going to hit the poorest hardest.
His six bloody tests are a load of nonsense.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/11/2018 22:00

As bellini said, the issue is that it’s not about party politics.

It is, its just inconvenient for Tory voters to have the party's dirty linen washed in public. They thought they'd kept a lid of the eurosceptics but the genie is out the bottle and all hell has broken loose. If we had a decent media in this country the Tories would have been held to account.

Bearbehind · 11/11/2018 22:02

The only evidence of Corbyns incompetence you need is the fact TM has monumentally fucked up Brexit and yet she’s still ahead of him in the polls.

That’s how bad people perceive him to be.

Why on earth would any dyed in the wool labour supporter condone that?

bellinisurge · 11/11/2018 22:02

If we had a decent Opposition in this country the Tories would be held to account.

jasjas1973 · 11/11/2018 22:02

Bear - i asked you for evidence that JC could have stopped Brexit, you ve not yet come up with any....
why? because there is none, he cannot, never could, prob couldn't have swung a few 1000 votes, even amongst the young!... who still are less likely to vote in any new referendum.

Lets look to the future? i think Labour will oppose the deal and May will be forced to have another vote, i don't believe she'll call an election, because it resolves nothing and she might lose.
a vote gives a chance to cling to power and if not her, the Tory party.

Bearbehind · 11/11/2018 22:03

The referendum came about because of party politics but the aftermath is not defined by them.

Clinging on to that in order to apportion blame isn’t helpful.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/11/2018 22:03

Telling people the Project fucking reality of Brexit that is going to hit the poorest hardest.

The evidence was there before and after the referendum. People either listen or they don't. Consider that.

Blair - 3 time election winner has spoken out against Brexit many times. Has it changed public opinion?

dapplegrey · 11/11/2018 22:05

Jasjas ok, well who knows. There have been plenty of occasions when such rumours are fake news, for example when David Mellor was supposed to go to bed with his girlfriend wearing a Chelsea tee shirt and shouting ‘goal’ at the appropriate moment. He went to bed with her but I think she later admitted she’d made it up.
On a more serious level recently Leon Britten and others were subjected to a vile campaign of lies and even if proved wrong people think no smoke without fire.
Why anyone wants to go into public life beats me. Especially now with msm as there are even more vicious attacks.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/11/2018 22:05

Were the polls particularly accurate in 2017?

Of course there’s no evidence he could have changed the outcome of the vote but there’s a shit load he could have done since but the fact is he didn’t bother even trying.

You clinging on to the hope he’s going to be our saviour now is pitiful.

Which part of ‘he wants to leave the EU’ do you not understand?

bellinisurge · 11/11/2018 22:09

Not having any food in the shops and food prices rocketing will get people to listen. If that's giving the Tories a bloody nose , am I allowed to call Leave voters stupid yet?

Bearbehind · 11/11/2018 22:10

There’s always a margin of error, and the polls near the election in 2017 weren’t far off the mark, but Labour should be wiping the floor with the Tories right now and they can’t even get their nose in front.

Bear - of course the aftermath is defined by them too, they are in power and only they can stop this..... how many more times do i have to say this lol!

Anyone of the main minsters of state could resign and stop brexit in its tracks, as could May herself, on the other hand, Corbyn could win X Factor, the polls could show 90/10% in favour of remain and brexit would still go ahead.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/11/2018 22:13

The majority of the press still supports the Tories. History tells us that whoever has the press has Downing Street. Corbyn is doing remarkably well given the relentless smear campaign against him - worse than any other Labour leader - which is saying something.

Bearbehind · 11/11/2018 22:14

And what exactly has he done to counter this and prove them wrong?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/11/2018 22:15

Yes, it is forgotten that most Tory MP's pre referendum favoured remain. This includes May. The Tories could stop this tonight.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/11/2018 22:18

And what exactly has he done to counter this and prove them wrong?

How the hell does one person fight against the endless stream of media against them - not just daily newspapers but 24 hour social media? How did remain counter all the leaver disinformation and cheap slogans? With great difficulty and ultimate failure!

Bearbehind · 11/11/2018 22:18

I’m off now - this little Corbyn fan club sickens me.

I don’t see anyone saying the Tories aren’t to blsme for Brexit but how anyone who supports Remain can condone the fact the leader of the oppostion has done fuck all to try and stop this is beyond me.

jasjas1973 · 11/11/2018 22:20

Bear - people don't listen, not about Labour or brexit, they have fixed ideas and don't change, just listen to the leavers on here!!!
