I'm guessing surfer won't start another thread as the questions were getting a bit difficult on the last one. 😂

Thought this was worthy of discussion though

So it turns out those pesky EU immigrants actually contribute more than the average UK citizen.

Who knew 🤔

No taxation without representation. As a pp pointed out is fundamental to many democracies.

If you pay towards something - you must get some say in how your ,only is spent. The idea of 'fair play' is (I am assured) fundamental to Britishness.

It is only fair to allow people who contribute a say in how that money is spent.

Bearbehind · 27/09/2018 21:08

Most in the uk couldn’t give a monkeys at this stage

Because they are ignorant to the repercussions.

Remain isn't a cult at all.

We can see the reality.

It's Leavers who are in their own little world full of rainbows and unicorns.

10degreestostarboard · 27/09/2018 21:08

Moose - no - they are foreign nationals....

10degreestostarboard · 27/09/2018 21:08

Most of the uk don’t care and certainly don’t read these monotonous threads

It’s a cult

Moussemoose · 27/09/2018 21:09

A cult has to be a minority group sidelined by mainstream society.

It looks like remain may no longer be, even a slight minority. Why don't we have a vote to find out?

Bearbehind · 27/09/2018 21:09

I actually agreed with the principle of what surfer was saying until you twisted it into a xenophobic racist rant 10degree

You make me sick

10degreestostarboard · 27/09/2018 21:10

Can I vote in German elections?

No? Why not - some of my taxes end up contributing to eu projects in other countries...

No taxation without representation?

10degreestostarboard · 27/09/2018 21:12

What is racist about the basic (and common) principle that foreign nationals the world over do not have the same voting rights as nationals?

Quick to bandy racist about aren’t we?

An esoteric (tedious) cult....

Moussemoose · 27/09/2018 21:12

They are foreign nationals whose money we are happy to take.

Throughout history it is taxation that has prompted calls for wider representation. The rising middle classes wanting a say in how their taxes were spent and this saw a wave of protests that resulted in the great Reform Acts.

Taxation and representation are irrevocably linked.

Just a tip - saying "no I don't want it" isn't a very good argument.

Moussemoose · 27/09/2018 21:14

What other countries do is up to them. I think we should lead the world in democratic principles not follow others.

10degreestostarboard · 27/09/2018 21:14

Moose - see my post at 2110

Your taxation/ representation argument is thin

10degreestostarboard · 27/09/2018 21:15

Moose

You are being naive. Few if any nations on earth would do what you propose in similar circumstances.

Thevicarsknickers · 27/09/2018 21:16

Alright alright, calm down over here. OK. If we all agree to another referendum (unlikely) do you remoaners absolutely, definitely, 100%, scouts honour PROMISE to stop whingeing when vote leave wins again? Genuine question.

10degreestostarboard · 27/09/2018 21:17

I recently visited hong kong for a weeks holiday. When buying goods In the local supermarket i paid a value tax.

Can I now expect a voting card through the post come election time?

No? But I have ‘paid in’....

jasjas1973 · 27/09/2018 21:26

@10degreestostarboard

I suggested a 5 year period, not just someone who has paid some VAT.

You also need to look at why you are so bitter towards anyone who is a high earner or an elite, many Eu nationals working in med or tech are essential to our health and economy, they are to be celebrated not put down like you are doing, with your cheap jibes.

Thevicarsknickers · 27/09/2018 21:27

jas I paid hella tax working in NZ. Yes I had an in demand trade. Yes there are countries outside the EU with work opportunities. Yes these countries are picky about migration because its a great place to live and everybody would live there otherwise and frankly they can be, and no it doesn't make them racist. Yes you pay for health care, no I didn't mind. I didn't get or expect a penny from the state. No I didn't get to vote because yes, I was a working guest and very happy to be. You go gettem tiger 100degrees

Thevicarsknickers · 27/09/2018 21:35

*Also NZ immigration are fucking ruthless. Crazy high earner I worked with got frog march straight out after overstaying his visa by several DAYS. The stats about migrant contributions are wildly out of kilter because even the government admits that we have no idea how many migrants are here illegally. The ones we know about are probably the ones paying PAYE, the ones we don't are usually paid cash in hand to avoid detection.

woman11017 · 27/09/2018 21:36

I've missed a lot of the thread and even if surfers meet up doesn't happen, it was a nice idea. Courageously so .Smile

Bearbehind · 27/09/2018 21:36

Alright alright, calm down over here. OK. If we all agree to another referendum (unlikely) do you remoaners absolutely, definitely, 100%, scouts honour PROMISE to stop whingeing when vote leave wins again? Genuine question.

Pointless question.

Leave wouldn't win again.

Regardless of what they said, when it comes to the ballot box and self preservation, there's an awful lot of Leavers who wouldn't choose to self harm now the truth is known.

OP posts:
PCPlumsTruncheon · 27/09/2018 21:39

Oh God, it’s back. 10 I don’t believe that you honestly believe half of what you say. If you find these threads so boring, why don’t you stop posting on them?

Moussemoose · 27/09/2018 21:39

I think we should never have another referendum, but that is how we got into this mess so politically we need one to resolve it - either way.

I'm really not that bothered about allowing people to vote if they pay tax, as a general principle I would support it, but it is along way from the top of my list of political reforms needed in the U.K..

Thevicarsknickers · 27/09/2018 21:43

Leave wouldn't win again Ha! Just like Leave wouldnt win the first time! You have failed to answer my question though. Would you stop whinging?

Bearbehind · 27/09/2018 21:48

I don't even agree with having another referdum.

It just gives TM a get out clause.

She needs to admit it's not possible to leave without destroying the country.

As it is she's just setting things up to blame Leavers for the apocalypse that will follow.

OP posts:
Thevicarsknickers · 27/09/2018 21:55

Bearbehind now you are just being coy with your answer. I suspect that you don't want another referendum just in case we get the same outcome and then you won't have a leg to stand on...

Fawful · 27/09/2018 21:57

I've missed a lot of the thread

I think that was probably the idea @woman11017 - bury uncomfortable conversations such as the one I had below with surferjet under a lot of nonsensical posts, enough to put off anyone sane, so that it's almost as if it didn't happen. Weird.

@surferjet I don't know why you would think that as a foreign national I'm more likely to 'tell you what to do' than a remainer. It's a conversation, I might have things to say about what I know, as you do, and I'm as open-minded as you.
