Thought I'd dust off the optics & open the bar for the festive period Xmas Smile

If any of the the old crowd are still around, then do pop in for a Christmas catch up & join me in toasting the end of the beginning!

Onward! To Brexit!

Thanks Bear for finally getting it.
Yes UK would like it to be a soft border. as in no physical blocks.
The WTO think this may be possible, done by electronic tagging.
However should it be a hard border it will be at the EU instigation.
So the UK will be keeping their word.

Inkanta · 17/01/2018 15:50

I think Bear is being sarcastic Mummy. She added the rolled eyes emoticon.

mummmy2017 · 17/01/2018 16:00

Nope taking it if she can roll the eye's and pretend, then in truth she has understood, but just doesn't like facing the fact it is a possibility.

Inkanta · 17/01/2018 16:05

Ah right. Smile

Bearbehind · 17/01/2018 16:16

mummmy I think I'd quite like some of whatever drugs you are on!

Of course I was being sarcastic.

How on earth would an honesty border work?

A year after A50 and the best you can think of is 'some sort of border' just shows you haven't thought about it very hard, if at all.

It's completely soul destroying to realise that you and your fellow Leavers, particularly those in charge of getting us out of this mess haven't even begun to seriously think about the practicalities.

mummmy2017 · 17/01/2018 16:24

Bear how do you know this 100%. That nothing is being done....

those in charge of getting us out of this mess
Your Freudian slips are quiet telling.
Yes the EU is a mess, and I 100% agree with you on this.

Inkanta · 17/01/2018 16:25

Good news to hear that Jacob Rees-Mogg, has been elected to lead the Brexiteer MP Group. At last someone who speaks Brexit language, who knows what to do and how to do it. He'll bring some well needed leadership and common sense to the leaving process.

Bearbehind · 17/01/2018 16:29

Ok, what evidence is there that anything is being done?

You know, like infrastructure at ports and borders being built now in preparation for a border.

I prefer to base my thoughts on things that can. E proven rather than really on the 'no news is good news' theory

That was not a Freudian slip either, the mess I was referring to was Brexit.

It truly astounds me how trusting you are of a government which has proved countless times it is incompetent.

You honestly think the are hundreds of people in the background that are going to magically sort this all out don't you?

jay95 · 17/01/2018 16:36

Hundreds of people in the background trying to minimise the fallout. And failing.

mummmy2017 · 17/01/2018 16:40

Bear you poor thing. you keep talking about magic. only you think this not me.

You do know that there are people who do work and who do sort things out, they meet in Brussels sometimes to talk. Davis pretends to be in charge,he's called a figurehead, it's to do with a ship thing , this carved thing sits at the front, is made of wood and does nothing, while in the ship behind are people who actually run the ship, they are the ones who understand what needs to be done to make things happen, they change direction all the time in respons to the information they get...

Bearbehind · 17/01/2018 16:42

mummmy you are making more of a fool of yourself than ever I imagined was possible.

Give it up.

mummmy2017 · 17/01/2018 16:49

BEARbehind your showing your self to be narrow minded, backward looking and intransigent.

It's a shame, but Remainers do seem to still be in the grief phrase of the relationship break up...still

SoulStew · 17/01/2018 16:56

I can’t wait until this denial/anger loop ends and they move into the acceptance stage. It’s so tiresome.

mummmy2017 · 17/01/2018 17:01

www.psychologytoday.com/blog/me-we/201406/the-7-stages-grieving-breakup

  1. Desperate for Answers
  2. Denial
  3. Bargaining
  4. Relapse
  5. Anger
  6. Initial Acceptance
  7. Redirected Hope

Why did I never realise before how apt this is...

Bearbehind · 17/01/2018 17:07

mummmy, i just can't get my head round how deluded you are.

You clearly no need for facts or answers in your life.

The fact you view everything so simplistically is also completely alien to me.

I'm not narrow minded at all; I'm waiting with baited breath for someone to show me all these new ideas and plans.

I'll gladly be told my fears are unfounded and there's actually a fantastic solution to all the problems I can see.

Shame they can't, because there aren't any sensible solutions; only endless problems and incompatible goals.

Inkanta · 17/01/2018 17:08

Desperate for answers!! Grin

mummmy2017 · 17/01/2018 17:10

Anger...and Denial...
My gosh, it s classic case.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 17/01/2018 17:10

Bated breath.

Inkanta · 17/01/2018 17:14

Lets have a drink - it's after 5.

Wine cheers Wine

InfiniteSheldon · 17/01/2018 17:14

That's a very apt post Mummy and one which has appeared before, in various guises, with regards to Bear. I think continuing to engage validates rather than reassures; the supposed quest for answers is simply a way of prolonging stage one.

mummmy2017 · 17/01/2018 17:22

InfiniteSheldon I think your user name is brilliant.

My daughter said her school showed some episodes and the teacher said" lets see who gets it!"

Half the kids were in tears of laughter , some who had never watched it before were hook in mins.

Then there were the ones who just sat there puzzeled...

DD said it was quiet a surprise to realise it passes over the heads of some of her friends.

SoulStew · 17/01/2018 17:32

NO IDLE CHIT CHAT ON A VERY SERIOUS THREAD ABOUT VERY SERIOUS STUFF. What do you think this is?? A pub.........

mummmy2017 · 17/01/2018 17:36

Sniggers into my wine.

time4chocolate · 17/01/2018 18:05

Evening regulars one and allSmile

I have been busy recently and I see it has been in here too. Just going to have a Wine and a catch up on the recent pub comings and goings.

Bearbehind · 17/01/2018 18:09

You armchair psychiatrists think you are so clever with your nonsense about grief.

At some point there has to be answers to this situation.

A solution has to be found for incompatible goals.

You lot are simply too intoxicated by the cult of Brexit to acknowledge that but reality will bite when you see you're not getting the Brexit you thought you were.

Given the pledges and commitments made we simply cannot leave the SM in any meaningful way. It'll just have a new name.
