Back from the dead, May carries on whilst the vultures circle.

She had tried to out smart her rivals by running of to the palace to tell the queen she could form a government before they could act.

Definitely she stood and pretended nothing had changed. Except everything had. The wrath of her party was unleashed and there was open revolt. She has been summoned to appear before men in grey suits tomorrow at 5pm to hear their verdict.

How do she decide to make amends and reach out to moderate Tories? By sleeping with the DUP. And appointing Gove to her Cabinet.

How long will this last? How long can it last?

The youth vote polls are out

However, I can also see how none here will want that. Proper PR means the need to form working coalitions....

As a lover of both politics and football it infuriates me how people see them similarly. Politics is important to your life and shouldn't be pick a team steadfastly refusing to budge or ignore it. Ignore football or pick a team if you want, doesn't affect your life on the same scale.

Its the Sun What Won It?

Well seeing as 52% of Sun readers didn't vote...

(By comparison 35% of Mirror Readers and 47% of Daily Star readers didn't either).

May on Sky telling French journos how united the UK is. Macron looking on.

Actually it's all kicking off great question to her RE endangering GFA.

RhythmAndStealth · 13/06/2017 19:24

But people don't like politicians who are "easily taken for a ride" Hashi, it doesn't auger well for things like international politics, never mind domestic matters. It's a key competence thing.

Especially if it looks like all you have to do to take them for a ride is connect with their self-interest with some vague promises Artisan. Promise of a PR referendum and some cabinet posts. All of which turned out to be pretty hollow. Especially the PR referendum- such an obvious case of he who frames the question decides the outcome. Cameron did so well on that one I refuse to believe he was such an idiot with the EU one- one of the main people behind his rise in the party was Tennit after all.

Anyway, my point is, people don't like naivety combined with avarice, especially when it is thinly veiled with claims to being clever, practical and grown up.

And I disagree re standards as well Artisan. Yes, all parties are held to differing standards- based on their perceived strengths and weaknesses and how they present themselves. So Tories get judged more harshly,on a certain type of effectiveness, Labour gets judged more harshly on whether it's being fair or not.

Lib Dems do present themselves as being a bit above the fray, objective, creative, fair...and get punished when that proves not to be the case.

RhythmAndStealth · 13/06/2017 19:26

Tebbit not Tennit.

Peregrina · 13/06/2017 19:28

May on Sky telling French journos how united the UK is.

Has she learnt nothing in this last week? When she called the election she sensed the country was behind her. Her antenna were badly tuned because she squandered her majority. She only did as well as she did, because she was aided by the Scottish Tories, who were fighting a completely different battle, with the SNP over IndyRef2.

May on Sky telling French journos how united the UK is.

Is she?

Dozy twonk

Whats the french for 'she is lying...people are still pissed off'

HashiAsLarry · 13/06/2017 19:31

No, which is why most of those involved have lost their seats. But people like politicians who lie to their faces like bojo, osbourne, Cameron and TM. Does that mean politicians shouldn't aim higher?
Every nation gets the government it deserves.

I don't think people do like politicians who lie to their faces Hashi. But I think they prefer politicians who don't make many bones about the fact they do to ones who plead ignorance/naivety.

And really, I think a lot of habitual Tory voters have do genuinely different standards about what means justifies the end than people who habitually vote elsewhere. Notice I said different, rather than better or worse.

RhythmAndStealth · 13/06/2017 19:39

To be clear, I think that saying things that "aiming higher" is presupposing a certain world view- one which a lot of people don't share.

HashiAsLarry · 13/06/2017 19:40

But they consistently vote for them, and back them up. That's not just Tories. The bravado appearance means more than the actions. Which is how we end up in messes like this.

HashiAsLarry · 13/06/2017 19:42

No, sadly a lot of people think towing a party line is more important than serving their country. We've come a long way since Churchill and it's not been for the better.

WeakAndUnstable · 13/06/2017 19:47

It's the comments beneath that article, Red, that really repulse me. Awful. Reminds me how far this wonderful country has drifted to the brink of far-right intolerant hell.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 13/06/2017 19:50

It looks like the raids are rattled Weak keyboard warriors the lot of them. Don't be too worried just pop down to the next EDL march to see how many of them can ever be added to get out of their living rooms

Hahahah thanks rtb
I fall in love with him a little more everytime I see that picture. If it weren't for the minor points that he's gay and I'm married it'd all be sorted 😂

BiglyBadgers · 13/06/2017 20:19

I just watched a clip of May talking about how united we all are. Macron is doing his very straightest of straight faces. I am very impressed by his effort. That guy has talent. Grin

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 13/06/2017 20:21

United in our Dis-May?

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 13/06/2017 20:21

I've already put my MP on notice that my vote for them was not a vote for Brexit.

Likewise.
