Westministenders: Strong and Stable Theresa Date with Destiny

WELLLLL

Its just before 2.00am.

So far its the YouGov model all the way. Still a long way to go but, the Cons are not getting the top of their target list and Labour are doing very well in seats they just 'shouldn't be'.

Corbyn is now favourite to take the poison chalice of Brexit, but they may not be the largest party yet.

This is looking right now like 1974 not 1983.

May's potted regardless. I look forward to her resignation speech. Its still entirely possible that our next government is a Tory Minority under another leader.

The LDs are having a rough night so far. They are loosing deposits all over the place as they are squeezed out. But they still might hold the balance of power yet. Though they are pledged not to go into coalition.

Another election in the autumn? Brexit delayed and going soft and squishy?

Redwood on the news going on about them being bribed by tuition fees. He totally doesn't get it, complete twat.

7 years of ineffective austerity, futures robbed and brexit. The youth have finally risen. So totally stupid to sell them out then give them a voice.

Tony Homewood @ tonyhomewood
Cchq has long needed a clear out of the two-faced weasels that occupy it who wouldnt know a voter if they fell over him in the street

Ian Jones @ ian4newforest

Good morning, you beautiful people!!!!!
Its not perfect, and times are still scary, but it is so much better than I feared.
That youth vote!!!! Grin Grin Grin

PinkPeppers · 09/06/2017 08:16

We have got rid of our Tory in our constituency :)

What I thought was really interesting was that we didnt get ANY leaflet from them until the night before the election. I wondered if he was starting to feel worried Wink.

RedToothBrush · 09/06/2017 08:21

Carl dinnen @ carldinnen
Recriminations starting. Tory source briefing that David Davis was the minister who persuaded Theresa May to hold the election.

Well I guess he's relieved Ben Gummer won't get his job as may planned then

We kept our SNP MP. I voted Labour, but am satisfied with that as I quite like the cut of her jib. Surrounded by a sea of blue constituencies though. Sad

RedToothBrush · 09/06/2017 08:26

Channel 4 fact check
A lot of people are tweeting 72% youth turnout. We're still trying to find a source for this. If anyone can help...

I saw it from jim pickard @pickardje
Chief political correspondent for FT who is now saying he's waiting for confirmation of this.

Rupert Myers @ rupertmyers
BBC: Theresa May is closing ranks with her tight team.

Because that's worked so well so far.

1922 committee will not allow this. If tight team are circling together it's because they know the 1922 committee are writing the p45s for Nick and Fiona.

Hug a hoodie. Or something.

Our Labour MP was reelected here (N London) with a bigger majority; useless Brexiteer Tory in neighbouring constituency well and truly ousted - overall not a bad night. Sad about some of the narrow Lib Dem losses, especially Richmond Park - gutted to see Goldsmith get back in but I suspect he wouldn't survive a rerun. Shame about Amber Rudd too - so, so close!

RedToothBrush · 09/06/2017 08:52

Norman Smith @ BBCnormans
Brexiteers desperate to keep Theresa May in place so Brexit talks not shelved or de-railed.

The game's up. They know they have to compromise if May goes.

It's like Trump and the GOP.

Fuckers.

Hello,
Thank you Red for thread.
What is the verdict? Scared to watch the news ...is it a hung parliament?

RedToothBrush · 09/06/2017 08:58

Although maybe she's been told she's staying until they can find Ruth a seat. Wait for an elderly Tory in a safe seat to unexpectedly retire on health grounds.

Do you think Phil will stay at no. 11?

RedToothBrush · 09/06/2017 08:59

Doesn't this mean that, with those election fraud investigations still hanging over them, that more seats are in danger?

How many of them were re-elected? I saw MacKinley was - he should have been suspended as the SW Surrey LD candidate was in 2015.

MsHooliesCardigan · 09/06/2017 09:03

This is like 1992 and 2015 in reverse - Waking up and expecting a Labour majority and having your hopes dashed. I seriously want to do a Nelson from the Simpsons and tie Theresa May to a lamppost and stand there saying 'Ha ha, ha ha, ha ha' for 10 hours.
