I was thinking about how I could sum up the general election campaign and well. This said it all.

Good point.

Electric voting tags for everyone!

Grin

Semi joking, but it does wind me up when people don't vote but I know damn well they will be moaning about things directly related to politics in a few months

whatwouldrondo · 07/06/2017 22:36

Elena on episode 9 and making my plans......

BigChocFrenzy · 07/06/2017 22:37

Electric voting tags for everyone!

It may be the only way Sad

ElenaGreco123 · 07/06/2017 22:45

Wow! whatwouldrondo I am envious, but also a bit scared to continue watching it. I think at the end of episode 2 Offred sums our dashed hopes up nicely: "F*ck".

CivQueen · 07/06/2017 22:47

I can forgive someone for voting differently to me. Honestly, eventually Grin

I get very frustrated with anyone who doesn't vote at all.

There must be one party who you, at the very least, vaguely agree with over another.

BigChocFrenzy · 07/06/2017 22:57

Meanwhile in a mad world, there is sanity from former CIS chief ....

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jun/07/donald-trump-attack-london-mayor-indefensible-former-cia-chief

Michael Hayden, the former head of the CIA and NSA, called Donald Trump’s tweets against Sadiq Khan “stunning” and “indefensible”, saying that he understands the swell of anger from “the great body of the British people”

“How could anyone with a sound view of terrorism, the effects of terrorism, the Anglo-American relationship, the special intelligence relationship – how could anyone with any of that in their background believe that what was tweeted was a good idea,”
“It was stunning for all of us in America, and indefensible”.

BigChocFrenzy · 07/06/2017 22:57

CIA < keeps trying to disguise itself >

whatwouldrondo · 07/06/2017 23:01

Without spoiling because it mainly fleshes out what you have seen already the message is "don't think it can't get worse". I thought in the innocence of feminism the Margaret Attwood novel was highlighting how awful misogyny was, and it was, never occurred to me it might be a signpost (and the TV adaptation is that, as was the last series of Homeland)

BigChocFrenzy · 07/06/2017 23:02

I ordered the complete set of West Wing DVDs from Amazon

  • it was the last in stock < so I'm the bugger who beat you to it ! >

I plan to retreat to a saner world, e.g.

The President (Jed Bartlet) while riding a bicycle on his vacation in Jackson Hole, came to a sudden arboreal stop.

< he collided with a tree ! >

BigChocFrenzy · 07/06/2017 23:04

There's an awesome anchorman parody video on BBC Three's Facebook page with all the parties main politicians - it's brilliant!
(My fave bit was Nicola Sturgeon).

I can't find it away from fb to link it here unfortunately, but it's worth a look Grin

ElenaGreco123 · 07/06/2017 23:12

ron Sadly misogyny in The Handmaid's Tale has already been normalised for me in just 50 minutes. I thought episode 2 was not as harrowing as episode 1. Well, it really was.

ElenaGreco123 · 07/06/2017 23:20

BigChoc Leave off Spicey. After having read Comey's statement I totally feel for those poor man. He must tear his hair out on a daily basis. What did Trump mean?!

Trump then said: “Because I have been very loyal to you, very loyal; we had that thing you know.” Comey says he did not reply or ask what the president meant by “that thing”.

BigChocFrenzy · 07/06/2017 23:34

"we had that thing you know" Shock

There is not enough mind bleach in the world to remove that image.

lalalonglegs · 08/06/2017 05:29

But not as sick as I will feel this time tomorrow

BestIsWest · 08/06/2017 05:54

Me too. I need to do something very tiring today so that I can go to bed before they announce the exit polls and hide under the covers until it's all over.

woman12345 · 08/06/2017 06:38

Flowers and cute dogs in bags everyone. Sarah Silverman( A Speck of Dust) and Billy Connolly's skit about the Glasgow Airport attack have been good to raise a laugh recently. The Life of Brian is quite good on brexit really too. Smile

Alfieisnoisy · 08/06/2017 06:45

Oh my god...Billy Connelly's skit about the Glasgow terror attacks. Funnily enough I watched it again yesterday...makes me cry with laughter. "Wrong city lads" GrinGrinGrin

ElenaGreco123 · 08/06/2017 06:46

Thank you woman

woman12345 · 08/06/2017 06:48

'I'll tell ye this once'. Grin
Silverman is particularly good on Texan abortion law, and reciprocal policy for men's reproductive responsibilities, ifyswim. Grin The handmaid's tale with laughs.
