But perhaps I am wrong and the Labour Party will sort itself out?

CopperRose · 19/04/2017 14:01

This GE is completely uncallable I think.
It could go any way, and none of the usual prediction models are any good.

It's the best thing to happen imo as all parties now have to start walking the walk and backing up their rhetoric.

Who knows what will happen wrt Labour??!!
This is perhaps a necessary evil for them to regroup & reform into a party fit for purpose in the modern age.
Get rid once & for all of Toxic Tony's legacy & Corbyn's ruinous actions.

Perhaps Lib Dem will become a party of consequence?

Who knows?!

Dannythechampion · 20/04/2017 23:25

I think the reports of Labour's demise are exaggerated.

Even if May wins a 10% swing which only ever happened to Labour in the modern era, Labour would still have about 150 seats.

People are forgetting that the Tory gains in 2015 were down to taking seats from the Lib Dems not Labour, and that many of these seats might go bac the other way.

They're also forgetting the high voter turn out last time, with many leave supporters no being regular voters. If they stay at home this time, things will bea a lot tighter.

Why has this thread gone so quiet?

Badders123 · 30/04/2017 19:04

Perhaps all the leavers are busy counting the chickens coming home to roost?....

squishysquirmy · 01/05/2017 09:07

The party's over, and the hangover is just starting to take hold....

surferjet · 01/05/2017 12:15

Why has this thread gone so quiet?

It was a thread started purely to discuss events leading up to A50 being triggered.
A50 has been triggered so nothing more to say.
Plus leavers are bored of the same old crap remainers are still spouting - same old stuff from the same posters day in day out - just plain boring really.
There's more to live than discussing Brexit !
I still post sometimes on the EU board, but it's not the first place I look anymore.

Will be up all night on 8th June though, so might pop in for a drink if anyone else is around Smile

DoNotBringLulu · 01/05/2017 12:55

Not sure about that Surfer, fingers in ears to complexity and sunny optimism is shunned by highly informed people, whether leavers or remainers. Hard work though isn't it?

Corcory · 01/05/2017 14:48

I'd certainly be up for a drink on the 8th/9th June!

howabout · 02/05/2017 11:53

I'm staying up on the 8th to see if we can finally put NS back in her box. See you then. Smile

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 02/05/2017 21:27

Yep i will pop by

surferjet · 02/05/2017 22:06
Smile
Corcory · 02/05/2017 23:15

I'd love to see that too Howabout!!

Carolinesbeanies · 03/05/2017 21:44

"Plus leavers are bored of the same old crap remainers are still spouting - same old stuff from the same posters day in day out - just plain boring really."

100% this.

Just popped in for a G&T to toast the marvelous Mrs May Wine

Someone somewhere (not sure which thread now) posted a Churchill quote in yet another attempt to belittle/ridicule/condescend (delete as required) the leave support, so heres one for the Junker lovers.

"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile hoping it will eat him last" Churchill.

The EU have clearly drawn battle lines, economical ones yes, but if sanctions are good enough for NATO, then clearly theyre good enough for the unelected EU bureaucrats. Bring it in boys, wont be the first time european aggressors have tried to starve Britain into submission. Thank god for TM.

Have one on me guys. TTQ! WineWineWineWineWineWineWine

Marine Le Pen is praising Brexit right now on French TV debate, looks like May has a lot in common with an anti semitic fascist.

Carolinesbeanies · 03/05/2017 22:53

"Marine Le Pen is praising Brexit right now on French TV debate, looks like May has a lot in common with an anti semitic fascist."

LOL. Using that mentality, half the UK who voted leave share the same commonality. Oh hang on. You mean all leave voters are stupid, racist, anti-semites?! Gosh why didnt someone tell me that before 😱

I liked her observation today, France will indeed be led by a woman. Either her, or Angela Merkel. Choice is yours France, and as one of the most misogynistic states in Europe (yes its a state, and yes I lived there for some time), Im guessing the dawning of that very clear choice isnt going down well.

Cheers! Wine

Draylon, you are really grasping at straws now - perhaps you need to get out more?

See, if I'd called you an ignorant, racist twat, you'd be all arm waving and Reporting

Well, yes. Confused

Why on earth would it even occur to you to call someone an ignorant, racist twat if they hadn't done/said anything that was ignorant, racist or twatty?

scaryteacher · 04/05/2017 15:27

If TM wins on the 9th will be keeping my head down as I am at senior examiner meetings that morning, and the mood there last year pre referendum was anti Brexit. I sat there and inwardly rolled my eyes, before returning to the salubrious environs of greater Brussels.

I will be buying my copy of the DT in response to all the Grauniads that will be out.

You could have laid out a well thought through argument to challenge my assertions, but no

I could have, but I chose not to.

Because I wasn't interested enough to bother replying to a post that was nothing more than a ridiculous rant about the name of the thread.

I responded to that post in kind.
