time it is not 'pack mentality' for lots of people to vehemently disagree with someone's disgusting and extreme views.

It is the ultimate in hypocrisy to defend someone who's views you don't wish to associate yourself with for no other reason that to use it to defend another position i.e. your views on Brexit.

Bearbehind · 22/03/2017 20:25

olympia did you actually read what that post at 16.56.27 said?

It was not 'reporting news'

It was making assumptions on the motives of the perpetrators

Nothing was known then about who did it or why.

svetlana had been expressing her intolerant views on 'non-EU', 'non western' immigrants in this country immediately prior to that post.

It would be entirely disengenious to begin to think the 2 comments are not related.

Olympiathequeen · 22/03/2017 20:26

Please explain your last sentence in a more precise way as I am a deranged fantasist.

I am defending her right to speak as I would defend anyone's right to speak whether I agree with her or not.

Kaija · 22/03/2017 20:26

What Svetlana actually said was:

"Hire Bored. Tried & tested tactics are being used on Westminster Bridge as we speak. Two dead, several with catastrophic injuries."

...in response to this post from bored:

"Yes, they are here svetlana, same tactics." which presumably referred to remainers on here.

I don't know exactly what she meant by it (please explain) but it's hardly a neutral report of a news item.

Olympiathequeen · 22/03/2017 20:30

verbatim

^Hire Bored. Tried & tested tactics are being used on Westminster Bridge as we speak. Two dead, several with catastrophic injuries.

Run pedestrians down with car to create distraction and then try for the big prize^

I read that as terrorists using a car to murder people on Westminster bridge, (a tactic used already in france and Germany) which created a diversion and allowed one terrorist to enter Westminster and murder a policeman. Unless 'Hire' is some kind of code and not a typo. Please enlighten me.

boredofbrexit · 22/03/2017 20:34

A vehicle being used to mow down pedestrians is a tried and tested tactic though, and Svetlana did not differentiate whether it was perpretrated by a home grown terrorist or an immigrant or even someone with mental health problems.

Any jumping to conclusions was not done by Svetlana.

And yes, some goady posters who have recently inundated this thread do have form ref Claigs threads.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 22/03/2017 20:34

Yeah i read it that way as well olympia

Im not good with the whole sub text though so i could be wrong

Olympiathequeen · 22/03/2017 20:38

'assumptions made about the motives of the perpetrators'

are you for real? What rock have you been under for the past few years. The tactics of the perpetrators were those of France and Germanys terrorists and were very 'successful' there too.

The country has been on a state of the highest alert (one down from an actual attack) for over a year and the situation was described as an almost inevitable event.

I don't think it takes more than a few brain cells to work out that these were Islamic terrorists. And please try to call me a racist on that assumption and I will fall off my chair laughing!

Bearbehind · 22/03/2017 20:39

Oh give over.

The other terroist attacks using vehicles were carried out by immigrants.

You know that's exactly what svetlana meant so please don't pretend you don't.

Olympiathequeen · 22/03/2017 20:41

And I have no idea who Claig is and probably better I don't Grin

boredofbrexit · 22/03/2017 20:43

No, Bear. What these attacks have in common is that they were carried out by terrorists.

Olympiathequeen · 22/03/2017 20:44

Ah...A classic Gaslight. Tell me what I know, even though I don't know anything but you will convince me with your conviction that I did know that. Nice try, but you are an amateur compared to my ex.

boredofbrexit · 22/03/2017 20:47

Claig was a long time, genuine poster who had the misfortune to be a follower of the President of the USA. For her sins. And was hounded from this site by goady, nasty, faceless posters. Who still post. In fact Surfer was quite often a target for their bile too. She no longer posts. See a pattern? Svetlana is the latest kid for the playground bullies.

Bearbehind · 22/03/2017 20:48

bored so why was the comment made by svetlana relevant to a thread about Brexit?

Bigots like he/r have, very dangerously, confused dealing with terroism and leaving the EU.

The fact none of you wish to associate yourselves with he/r disgraceful comments is testament to the fact that, deep down, you do actually realise that too.

Kaija · 22/03/2017 20:54

The only thing Claig and surfer have in common is that they both mysteriously disappeared in a puff of smoke once their aims (inauguration and A50) were on the verge of being achieved, and before the respective shit started hitting the fan. Not sure Claig would find much to say in defence of Trump at this point and I don't think it will be long before the same is true of Brexit.

boredofbrexit · 22/03/2017 20:57

No confusion Bear, only on your part. And no need to keep telling us what do do and think.

Olympiathequeen · 22/03/2017 20:59

But she has the right to express her views and not be bullied for them. I don't mind reasoned debate but honestly, that was pretty vile and unwarranted. I just can't stand the way someone's words are twisted. It's a tactic used when you want to really hurt someone, and whatever her views were or were not they were honestly held.

It's an odd thing to say and very insulting to insinuate that all Leavers are an homogenous group with a single ideology.

Imjustapoorboy · 22/03/2017 21:02

I reported Svetlana

I felt that the poster was not appropriate, made personal remaraks to others and also decided to write a threat in a post direct at me

boredofbrexit · 22/03/2017 21:02

Whether one thinks shit hits fans is entirely premised upon their thinking Kaija. And your thinking is diametrically opposed to mine: I know that the attacks on Claig and Surfer intensified as posters with opposite political views became more and more frustrated and enraged, and possibly, having no-one to vent to irl, let loose in the anonymous forum that mn is. Very bigly of them. not.

Bearbehind · 22/03/2017 21:02

olympia it is absolutely right that someone with extreme views should be challenged on them.

Who said all Leavers were a homogenous group?

I was actually saying the opposite- i.e. No other leavers were prepared to associate themselves with svetlanas views.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 22/03/2017 21:04

In fact Surfer was quite often a target for their bile too. She no longer posts

She last posted on the 20th

Isnt it a bit early to kill her off

Is wickham woman ok...i assume she has name changed

Give her my best if anyone is still in touch

Bearbehind · 22/03/2017 21:06

I would bet quite a lot of money surfers alter ego started this thread so I wouldnt write her off yet.

No one else uses that many emojis, particularly the Union Jack.

Olympiathequeen · 22/03/2017 21:10

I'mjustapoorboy. Good on you. No one should be threatened even if they write passive aggressive posts, and even if the poster has been bullied pretty relentlessly for their clumsy English and personal views.

There's a big difference between challenging someone and relentlessly bullying them for post after post.

Having moderate views doesn't exempt you from the same treatment, as I found to my cost, being bullied off 2 threads, one of which I started. I left it in one of those abandoned baby lockers they have in some part of the world

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 22/03/2017 21:12

I dont think svetlankas english was clumsy

In many posts it was excellent

Westwiltshire · 22/03/2017 21:13

Bear behind iirc correctly you started a thread saying that only those clued up on the subject should have a vote in the EU referendum.
That's a pretty extreme view in my opinion
