Well here we are, almost 9 months on from the referendum & A50 is finally set to be triggered this month.
We've had petitions, marches, tantrums & tears, from the hardcore remainers desperately trying to stop the will of the people, but they can't.

So let's get the champagne out of the cellar ready & waiting - this is the last Brexit Arms thread so let's celebrate!

Nobody has the right to bully or harass others.

There has been ill feeling on both sides and some pretty bloody horrible stuff said.

The decision to Leave has been made...let's now get on with it and deal with any fall out (if it occurs) as it happens.

Personally I am in the "wait and see" camp rather than the jolly "it's all roses over here, hoorah for Brexit" camp or the doom laden "we should have stayed in the EU and it's all going to Hell" camp.

I suspect there will be pluses and minuses which will have both sides shrieking "I told you so" at various times.

FickleMatter · 20/03/2017 18:00

No need to apologise but then we have a tautological statement: 'current EU residents with the right to stay will be allowed to stay'.

Yes, I agree with it too then (who wouldn't?), but it does not bring anything to the debate about the EU nationals.

boredofbrexit · 20/03/2017 18:10

Lets wait to hear what the EU say about the UK national..and their own nationals come to that.

FickleMatter · 20/03/2017 18:12

You are right, Bored. There is not much else we can do at the moment. Anything else is pure speculation.

boredofbrexit · 20/03/2017 18:35

The A50 date is John Majors b'day. What delicious irony.

Valentine2 · 20/03/2017 18:39

I have seen you saying you will disappear once A50 is triggered surfer. And I did see the "reason" you have for it.
I have a feeling some posters in EU ref topic are on payrolls. Your lack of reason for leaving once A50 is triggered makes you a suspect unless you wanted to say you will be around and just won't start another Brexit Arms thread? Just curious.

Thats not ironic

Someone with a sense of humour did that on purpose Smile

Olympiathequeen · 20/03/2017 18:54

No idea why I am called snide Confused

But I am forgiving and magnanimous in victory

I'm sure eu nationals working and living here legally will be allowed to stay. I will bet my next pint of gin on it. I have friends and work colleagues from the EU and I know the country would grind to a halt without EU nationals. If the eu would've agreed so would we pre talks, but they have said categorically no negotions/deals before A50.

It is beyond nasty to leave people on both sides hanging like this and I just hope it is one of the first things to be agreed upon, regardless of what the other outcomes are.

the words "beyond nasty" and "hope" really do sum everything about Brexit up.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/03/2017 19:03

Lets wait to hear what the EU say about the UK national..and their own nationals come to that.

its language like this that shows people are being used as bargaining chips. And lets just remember who is pulling the trigger (its in the thread title). Brexiters.

Olympiathequeen · 20/03/2017 19:28

Ghost. If the UK are using people as bargaining chips what is the EU doing? It doesn't sum up Brexit, it sums up the intransigence of the EU who refuse to engage until A50 is triggered. TM has repeatedly said she want to secure the rights of all citizens.

SemiPermanent · 20/03/2017 19:43

I also live in eternal hope that folk will stop insinuating (or indeed explicitly stating) that posters on this thread are being paid to do so.

SemiPermanent · 20/03/2017 19:45

Also quite amusing that Leavers on this thread are consistently berated for not posting substance - yet those self same 'rules' don't seem to apply to Remainers.

surferjet · 20/03/2017 19:47

No, not on anyone's payroll. I just won't stick around once A50 has been triggered because I've had enough tbh. It's been good chatting with everyone but I'm not hardcore enough to carry this on for another 2 years.
I don't post much on the rest of MN generally, but I'll log in occasionally.

boredofbrexit · 20/03/2017 20:09

i know surfer is gen up because she was pissed at the coco spill. if she was paid for it would have been on expensesWink

No idea why I am called snide confused

In a post-truth age, how dare anyone called you snide for being snide. It's no longer acceptable.

Olympiathequeen · 20/03/2017 20:20

Sad now that I've found this pub to be turfed out so soon, but if I'd been propping the bar up for 9 months I'd agree to go home for the sake of my liver. 😀

Anon1234567890 · 20/03/2017 20:46

I am hoping after the 29th remoaners will start to accept reality and start to think about how we can make Brexit work.

Valentine2 · 20/03/2017 20:50

But the actual discussion is about to begin! I have been one of the extremely outraged ones after the Brexit vote. But over the last few months, I have figured that the best way out of anything now is to keep the discussion going. You are keeping the pub alive for discussion. I don't think it's a job you can simply resign from now. I do appreciate it can be tiring and that's why I hardly ever posted on these threads for a long time or was very infrequent though I was always lurking on both your and RTB's threads time to time.
Both sides have thrown a LOT into this over the last few months but there is no way either sides can abondon the discussion now. Surely you knew that once the A50 is triggered, the discussion will take a new form? Why did you not mention it when you started that you will quit once A50 is triggered? Why are you going to stop it now that the predictions of either side are going to actually materialise? It's very very unjust and I am being polite.

You asking me that question is a proof how little you understood what I was trying to ask. Kindly stay out of it. It's me to surfer.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 20/03/2017 20:53

I agree valentine

Shits about to get real

It will be interesting to see how all the pieces of the puzzle start coming together...really slowly but still...

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 20/03/2017 20:54

Although ive not been overly outraged

twofingerstoEverything · 20/03/2017 20:55

Why should WE start to think about how to make Brexit work? Not my circus. Not my monkeys.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 20/03/2017 21:02

Also agree with two

scottishdiem · 20/03/2017 21:04

I am having nothing to do with this:

"I am hoping after the 29th remoaners will start to accept reality and start to think about how we can make Brexit work"

This is the Brexiters mess. They can fix it. Admittedly I have already left the country so there is not much I will be doing either way.
