Still a week until Stoke and Copeland. (Labour Hold/Con Gain unless something strange happens) QT is from Stoke next week.

A50 hits the Lords next week. Melania is being lined up to do something for the women. (God help us all).

Will UKIP survive? Will Nuttall survive? Will Labour survive? Will Trump survive? Will CNN survive? Will the Lords survive? Will Theresa May survive a class room of children?

All these questions and more

15. Trump hates being reminded of Hillary's popular vote margin because he knows MORE PEOPLE OPPOSE HIM THAN SUPPORT HIM. That's real news.

You mean the exact same way Remainers hate being reminded of Leave's popular vote margin because they know MORE PEOPLE OPPOSE THEM THAN SUPPORT THEM? That's real news.

Oh and apologies for the lack of long and wordy posts. Not my style.

SummerLightning · 18/02/2017 05:36

More troll because you seem angry and spoiling for a fight, but each to their own.

RedToothBrush · 18/02/2017 06:36

Cage. Rattled.

Interesting. So wordy it still got read and quoted.

I have a sick toddler and severe insomnia tonight. What's your excuse?

Anyway something is brewing in USA. Something big.

Trump's latest melt down at the press in being 'translated' by a few that certain media outlets have something big about to break.

Couple that with the following:
Several names have turned down replacing Gen Flynn because the WH won't let them reconsider staff Flynn put in. Most notably his deputy.

And
www.politico.com/story/2017/02/trump-ignoring-cabinet-235124
Trump ignores 'the grown-ups' in his Cabinet

Looks like Trump is deliberately sidelining Rex Tillerson with his son in law acting as an alternative secretary of state.

And

FBI director Comet has been talking to senior senators behind closed doors. Republican ones.

Steven Dennis @steventdennis
Senators seemed different in hallway after talking to Comey. Super-duper-uber tight-lipped.

Marco Rubio @marcorubio
I am now very confident Senate Intel Comm I serve on will conduct thorough bipartisan investigation of #Putin interference and influence

Reports are meeting was unusual, particularly long, on a Friday before a bank holiday weekend and everyone coming out had ashen faces. Plus no one said ANYTHING to press about it. (Rule about silence saying more than what is said applies here)

And

There was also a story about how Fox news were reporting that Trump knew about Gen Flynn and how he lied to Pence for several days but did nothing but I'm damned if I can find the tweet again.

Also
www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/17/louise-mensch-trump-russia-ties-media-scoop?CMP=share_btn_tw
The Guardian being nice about Louise Mensch and praising her over her journalism

Raise your eye brows folks... Raise your eyebrows.

Anyway I'm going to try to get back to sleep. (Again)

< Sprays Raid over the thread >

red Flowers You know that the rest of us, who enjoy thinking & debating, appreciate your informative posts

There is a section of Leave voters who demand simple answers to complex problems
Who scapegoat foreigners
Who view all opposition as traitors
Like Trumpers and their 3-word slogans "drain the swamp" etc
Trump just wanted his own swamp, gold-plated
So do Fox & co

Such trolls give Leavers their rep as racist thickos
But we've seen far more Leavers here who debate with us and who don't come from the alt right swamp.

BigChocFrenzy · 18/02/2017 06:48

Flag-waving instead of facts
Rule Britannia pays the bills ?

Brexit can stop East European nhs staff, careworkers, nursery staff, fruit-pickers.
Can stop those Polish plumbers
Brexit won't affect non-EU immigration

In fact ....
The govt is being told, e.g by India ,that new trade deals must involve more low income immigration

  • because the UK on its own hasn't the clout to negotiate the deal with India that the EU got.

The govt is desperate to trade post-Brexit.
Trade deals take several years to negotiate and even getting WTO terms settled is v difficult.
So the govt will suck it up
From whoever wants it sucked
Or the UK rapidly becomes a lot poorer

Year Zero tends not to work well for countries

What a Failed Trump Administration Looks Like

"I have trouble seeing exactly how this administration ends.
Many of the institutions that would normally ease out or remove a failing president no longer exist"

"Everything about Trump that appalls 65 percent of America strengthens him with the other 35 percent, and he can ride that group for a while."

"the circle of trust seems to be shrinking to his daughter, her husband and Stephen Bannon...
This administration is more like a medieval monarchy than a modern nation-state.
It’s more “The Madness of King George” than “The Missiles of October.”
The key currency is not power, it’s flattery."

"The likelihood is this:
We’re going to have an administration that has morally and politically collapsed, without actually going away."

BigChocFrenzy · 18/02/2017 07:08

If the Uk is still without a credible organised politicial opposition when Brexit bites, then maybe too - under fptp

"We’re going to have an administration that has morally and politically collapsed, without actually going away."

RedToothBrush · 18/02/2017 07:25

The plan is ivanka will be the first female president. In a white house where several senior figures currently have clouds over them for wife beating and support a country which just made wife beating legal saying it's traditional.

Read it and ignore as you do but when the police in Sweden are having to resort to Facebook to sound the alarm then you have to ask yourself if there is something else going on.

Straight up quoted by Russia Today. Yep something else going on alright!

Grin

That's made me laugh.

Agree. And delurking to say thanks red for your threads and I for one appreciate reading posts that don't reduce everything to 140 characters and meaningless soundbites. And nighttime poster - why so angry and bitter sounding? Your new world order won didn't it? So why are you sounding so rattled?

Caught a piece on Stoke on BBC Breakfast yesterday morning. Found it very interesting that they all seemed to be saying Labour does nothing for them as there's no manufacturing anymore.

Its seemed like there was blame for New Labour in there too for that, New Labour have shafted old Labour so much that return to core values is too late?

TheElementsSong · 18/02/2017 07:50

Well, I've been totally convinced by the devastatingly erudite arguments offered by last night's finest examples of Leave supporters. What magnificent human beings. I luffs you 😍.

The loss of manufacturing is linked to the increase in use of robots rather than new labour policies or labour policies. The % of GDP due to manufacturing has stayed fairly consistent but the numbers employed by it have plummeted.

Some political party really needs to get to grips properly with the rise of the machines, particularly if self driving lorries become the norm which is perfectly possible by 2025. There isn't a lot of time to come up with any plan at all.

RedToothBrush · 18/02/2017 08:11

That candidate in Stoke who was arrested?

Just read some of her website. I'm not going to link or copy for good reason. To paraphrase:

Riots against Trump were organised by Isis via secret radio transmission. The Jewish stirred up every war since the crusades against the whites. Our best white men killed in WWI. Churchill was a jew. Isis is a Jewish offshoot. The media is infiltrated by Jews and controls it. It is evil. This is why we should become absolute monarchies again.

It's as bad if not worse than the ukip Christian soliders.

Can't think why she was reported to the police.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/feb/18/paul-nuttall-under-pressure-over-claims-he-served-on-charity-board?CMP=twt_gu
Paul Nuttall under pressure over claims he served on charity board
Ukip leader’s website published article in 2009 saying he was joining board of North West Training Council – but CEO says he was never invited

A Ukip spokesman did not comment directly on the claim. A spokesman said in a statement: “The Guardian is clearly running a politically motivated campaign against Paul Nuttall. In our view, this shows how scared the Labour party must be of his electoral appeal.”

Sigh. This is how this week is going to go isn't it?

Scandals need to be pointed out. Except scandals are great for publicity. Publicity is great for increasing awareness of election that politically disconnected have no idea is happening without the need for canvassing. This doesn't deter people from voting. It drives them to vote.

That's why Trump didn't need people on phone or big budget.

Still, it does need some. Where will UKIP get it's funding from now? Follow the money. It was getting bankrolling by the EU. Where from next? Ukip voted against money laundering. Why?

Next election is going to be nothing but this shit.
