Yes, Mother that is my memory of hospitals under Blair too.

It's a neat way to tell a lot about a person, isn't it - what do you care about most: Slough or Syria.

Inkanta · 09/02/2017 14:11

'what do you care about most: Slough or Syria.'

Grin

Whoa - you're good at this!

Many Brits would fall for that.

Inkanta · 09/02/2017 14:13

Give us more shaming - see how we handle it.

Seriously, we need training on this.

We're rubbish at not conforming.

boredofbrexit · 09/02/2017 14:14

If anyone is interested theres a petition on changebritain.org where you can email the house of lords and bring some pressure to ear upon Lords residing there who have taken an oath of allegiance to the EU (and mught not want to lose their pensions). Btw Letwin has just asked if HoC could make time for a debate on abolishing the LordsShock

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 09/02/2017 14:17

We're rubbish at not conforming.

Oh good lord Grin

Like another poster i like to read this thread and the westminister one to get a hopefully more balanced view of brexit. But i think i will just read it and not comment .... I have failed again Smile

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 09/02/2017 14:23

Oh dear god, is that how you respond in real life every time you're challenged, Inkanta? STOP SHAMING ME! YOU'RE JUST SHAMING! OH THE SHAMING!

Is it that you feel you should be ashamed? or you feel other people think you should be? Or just that you view any critical comment as shaming?

It's a very weak strategy.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 09/02/2017 14:24

That sound like Catherine Tates Lauren seek

'Are you shaming me??? Are you shaming my family???'

Inkanta · 09/02/2017 14:26

Rufus - are you with me or against me?! If you are against me I will be so disappointed and might try and make you feel bad and tell you you don't care sufficiently. Smile

boredofbrexit · 09/02/2017 14:26

Shame is the inverse of outrageGrin

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 09/02/2017 14:28

oh no inkanta dont do that!!

I care loads

Oh wait, nope dont think i do

Inkanta · 09/02/2017 14:30

'Or just that you view any critical comment as shaming?'

Is what do you care about most Slough or Syria a critical comment?

I don't think so!

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 09/02/2017 14:31

Are you shaming me miss? Are you shaming me? Are calling me racist though? Are you saying I'm thick? Is that what you're saying though?

Listen: Syrian refugees, I ain't bothered. Look at my face, though. Trade deals, maternity leave,, I. Ain't. Bovvered. Jo Cox, am I bovvered though? But am I bovvered? Racist attacks on the streets, didn't happen though.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 09/02/2017 14:32

No, Slough and Syria isn't a critical comment - that was an observation.

However Inkanta seems so fond of the term 'shaming' I wondered how far she extended it.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 09/02/2017 14:33

seek

Oh thats funny

I had her saying it my heard

inkanta

I am watching David Brent Life on the road...he has just sung the Slough song

WrongTrouser · 09/02/2017 14:47

LittlePickleHead

TM tried to negotiate an early deal on reciprocal guarantees of EU and UK migrant rights for EU nationals in the UK and vice versa. Most countries were in favour, but the deal was blocked by the EU and your friend and mine, A Merkel.

I always find it very hard to understand why people in this country (UK and rEU nationals) spend so much time trying to influence how the UK government acts, and even trying to influence the American government, but I have never once on these threads heard anyone discuss trying to influence the EU. Why would that be?

maybe because no-one knows who to influence at the EU?WinkGrin

Inkanta · 09/02/2017 14:52

'No, Slough and Syria isn't a critical comment - that was an observation.'

Seek which would you pick - Slough or Syria?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 09/02/2017 14:54

What, to live in, or as the place more full of people who need urgent help?

WrongTrouser · 09/02/2017 14:56

No I don't think so, WT. I think what happened was it was part of her attempt to start negotiations with other leaders and Merkel said No, not till you have adhered to the process, is all

Yes exactly. AM said no deal at this stage. A deal could have been made but she said no.

Why do people always talk about the EU as if it is some force of nature, completely unable to respond to changing circumstances (and that's just the remainers)?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 09/02/2017 15:01

To answer the question both ways - I'd infinitely prefer to live in Slough than Syria, and I think the people of Syria need more help than the people of Slough.

boredofbrexit · 09/02/2017 15:17

What if your mother lived in Slough Seek?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 09/02/2017 15:20

Oh fuck, you got me - if it was my actual mother who lived in Slough then all my principles would go out of the window and I'd want her to be offered safe passage to Windsor as a matter of urgency. Fuck, turns out I'm a selfish git after all, I'll stop with all my faux-caring. I've been SHAMED.

Hmm

Are any bombs dropping on her? Has her home been reduced to mother? Are her family dead?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 09/02/2017 15:21

Her home reduced to rubble not mother, obviously!
