Why the question mark?

boredofbrexit · 06/02/2017 09:43

Have any if you read Palebluedotty's posts on the who do you blame for Brexit thread? Posted 30/1. Worth a read.

howabout · 06/02/2017 10:24

Just caught up with Palebluedotty's posts. Highly illustrative of the issue with "facts".

The Sunday Politics yesterday (about 7 minutes in) did a run down of the 60 billion euro exit cost. They came up with a best guestimate of negotiating to 36 billion but missed the last step of saying that this is total cost up to exit to set against annual 14 billion cost of remaining. There are gross figures on either side in the 10s of billions. They also somewhat muddied the water by spending a disproportionate amount of time focusing on the up to 0.5 billion they consider likely costs of ongoing membership to particular EU programmes.

is that you smallfox?Grin

boredofbrexit · 06/02/2017 10:39

Howabout, good example of what was described in the article you posted last night as fake maths, the 'fake news for numerically literate intellectuals...the abuse of statistics and economic models to peddle one’s own political prejudice'.

boredofbrexit · 06/02/2017 10:41

I'm at home today as had to take Brexitpup to get his second jabs. In two weeks he's gone from 1.6kg to 2.1kg. Must be all those Greggs sausage rollsWink

SemiPermanent · 06/02/2017 10:46

Brexitpup is very cute!

I'm up to my eyeballs in catching up on writing up my lecture notes & my house is a midden.
I've so much I should be doing but am in an avoidant mood Blush

What did Maria1001 say?!
(Intrigued..!)

WrongTrouser · 06/02/2017 10:47

Anyone seen the 1daywithoutus publicity, particularly Liz Needham's story.

www.1daywithoutus.org/liz-needhams-story/

The whole site seems to be hesitant about being anti-Brexit but it plainly is (oh plus anti-Trump visit of course).

Liz's main worry seems to be about having to leave the UK post Brexit. Perhaps she should lobby A Merkel about that as she seems to be the block on a mutual agreement on migrant rights.

I found the whole tone of the piece quite shocking, essentially leave vote = racism.

Interestingly one of the organisations aims is to reject the politics of division and hateConfused

WrongTrouser · 06/02/2017 10:48

Any pics of BrexitPup to pass round the pub Bored?

howabout · 06/02/2017 10:48

Just seen Brexitpup on the other thread - adorable Smile

WrongTrouser · 06/02/2017 10:51

Semi Maria was spam.

InformalRoman · 06/02/2017 10:51

What did Maria1001 say?!

Spam - nothing exciting or bunfighty.

SemiPermanent · 06/02/2017 10:53

No accusations of being a Nazi then Sad

Nazi sympathiser is the new thick racist it seems.

boredofbrexit · 06/02/2017 10:58

Maria was offering mystical services. We don't need them as we have crystal balls. Here is Brexitpup this morning, a bit sorry for himself:

boredofbrexit · 06/02/2017 11:00

Yes, Nazi is making a comeback. Sigh.

WrongTrouser · 06/02/2017 11:00

Aaaaw Smile

boredofbrexit · 06/02/2017 11:06

Wrong Trouser, I agree. She has lived here, made a home here, lived happily amongst us for years - really, did all of those people change overnight? Does she select who she does the accounts of? You can separate the anxiety arising from uncertainty but as you point out, we have been told in no uncertain terms no discussion prior to serving of A50...and the delay in doing that is one thing that the leavers have no hand in.

howabout · 06/02/2017 11:12

That Liz Needham testimonial is more than a wee bit off. Irish citizens are not in the same position as rEU.

EnormousTiger · 06/02/2017 11:12

LN on the link above is worried about being sent home to Ireland whereas a good load of British people with Irish grandparents are rushing to obtain Irish passports. I don't qualify as I only have Irish great grand parents - one on each side.

It is very likely that the Brits in France and Spain etc will be allowed to stay and vice versa in the ultimate negotiation but we shall see. At least we have not been silly enough to concede the piont before the discussions start given more others from the EU work in the UK than vice versa.

SemiPermanent · 06/02/2017 11:13

Tried to watch the Sunday Politics thing about the Brexit divorce bill, but was too distracted by how pretty that Henry Newman man is!

His voice is v irritating, but his face is a thing of beauty Grin
