Ruth Davidson is amazing, I like her a lot.

becausebecausebecause · 02/02/2017 22:49

And I meant dyed obviously, not died. That beer has gone right to my head Grin

SemiPermanent · 02/02/2017 23:58

Andrew Neil has just #PrayedForDiane Grin

becausebecausebecause · 03/02/2017 00:06

Haha I tweeted that hashtag today, what a farce Abbot is. Ruth is lovely, I had cause to consult her and she is definitely working for her money as an MSP.

boredofbrexit · 03/02/2017 00:41

derek hattons eyes were like those in the trump meme you posted semi!

Bearbehind · 03/02/2017 09:34

Quite interesting that even the Daily Mail has picked up on the fact any immigration controls are likely to be phased in.

Not exactly in line with the so called 'will of the people' is it?

I've never understood the logic of a Leave vote, never more so than now when it seems even less people are getting want they wanted.

Do you still think it's all worth it?

SemiPermanent · 03/02/2017 09:57

Do you still think it's all worth it?

If we are no longer shackled to the EU, then yes.

Being as how that's what I voted for - you know - to leave the EU.

surferjet · 03/02/2017 10:04

It's pretty simple to understand.

I voted to leave the EU.
The leave vote won.
We're leaving the EU.

Bearbehind · 03/02/2017 10:12

Thus confirming the point I made a while ago which is you have absolutely no aspirations for leaving the EU other than the badge of having done so Hmm

Marvellous.

surferjet · 03/02/2017 10:19

We've taken back control Bear. < waves flag >
Some idiot in Brussels, who I didn't vote for & don't even know, can no longer tell me what to do. There was nothing I could do about EU policy.
But now.......things are different Smile

Bearbehind · 03/02/2017 10:23

surfer I know you'll ignore this request but on the off chance you might not

Can you tell me one single example of 'some idiot in Brussels telling you what to do' which will change outside the EU?

Even the White Paper yesterday admitted U.K. parliament had always been sovereign.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 03/02/2017 10:26

Oust all the champagne socialists to the Lib-non-Dems where they'll be like pigs in shit, moaning about all the horrid people who are not thinking how they've been told to think

Yep i don't know how they are still in power at all, esp likes of Clegg.

Loved Tony Benn speech. Interesting that the German people were never given a vote on initial EU back in 70's Shock

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 03/02/2017 10:31

Bear did you watch any of the links above - Tony Benn puts it all quite well in his first vid on there.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 03/02/2017 10:33

This is the one, I would like to see what you think of that Bear.

InformalRoman · 03/02/2017 10:37

Some idiot in Brussels, who I didn't vote for & don't even know

So you didn't vote in the European Parliament elections then?

SouthallGirl · 03/02/2017 10:37

And once we have left the EU, we can amend the Hooman Rights Act which currently gives a safe haven to evil criminals - so long as they can show they have established a "life" in this country. All they have to do is knock up some naïve young thing, have a child and state they are family. Sure, their address is the same council flat but they are not 'together' because it's a ploy. If anyone would bother to look closely at this family one could see that he's hardly there, taxpayer takes care of her and the baby, and he's living most of the time elsewhere.

This right to Family Life, which is the one used mostly, is a muddle because no one is trying to break up a family. If she's so into him and he wants his child, there is no reason why they cannot relocate to his homeland where they can have a family life.

SouthallGirl · 03/02/2017 10:41

I would suggest that those posters who are adamantly for remaining are mostly from overseas, mixed in with the Regressive Left of course who seem to be conducting themselves as a cult.

We will be able to decide the curvature of our own bananas. Grin
I will be able to eat my pet horse Shock
I will be able to price eggs by the dozen Smile
I will be able to buy a 2000W hoover Wink
Or where you looking for big headlines like budget contributions, free movement of people, free trade deals with other countries, deporting evil criminals etc etc

Bearbehind · 03/02/2017 11:09

I've watched that Tony Benn video and really have no idea why you think it is so great Hmm

Apart from the fact it's about 10 years old, all it does is stir up anti EU sentiment without actually giving examples; something you guys are quite fond of I accept.

Our parliament has always been sovereign.

What is going to be so different outside the EU?

Bearbehind · 03/02/2017 11:10

jamie I'm guessing you were being facetious with those examples as they are all ridiculous and will be no different in or out of the EU.

JamieXeed74 · 03/02/2017 11:21

Bear, The point being that we will have the choice to make them different if we want.

SemiPermanent · 03/02/2017 11:26

I am already beyond excited about the opportunity to buy chlorinated chicken Grin

InformalRoman · 03/02/2017 11:29

Just wait until you start experimenting with mixing hormonal beef and red wine - the results might be interesting ...

I might start buying up shares in Unilever.

EnormousTiger · 03/02/2017 11:33

I am not from over seas and I am not left wing. I have a signed letter from Thatcher in my office even....

However now we have had the decision we must move ahead and leave. We have to acecpt the reality. A lot of what leavers say is plain wrong eg the Human Rights Act is nothing to do with the EU and the European Convention on Human rights is nothing to do with the EU either. However it doesn't matter if people are confused. We will sort all these laws etc out. The House of Lords is having some hearings I think this week with invited EU experts giving help on particular areas of law and we will just have to get on with it.

We can certainly once we leave decide eg to have differnt requirements for things like foam fililng of furniture if we want our furniture makers not to be able to sell in the EU so easily. We can remove privacy rights under the data protection laws too. We can stop the maximum number of hours working week although that has an opt out anyway for many people so not much change there. We can change the law that says if your company is sold you cannot be offered a lower wage (the TUPE rules).

We can stop internet sellers in the UK exporting to France. We can stop UK customers buying goods or services on line from say France - absolute export bans will be allowed.

I can certanily as a Remainer come up with areas where we will have power. It will not be good and the people who are likely to suffer economically will be those who voted for Brexit but there we are.

InfiniteSheldon · 03/02/2017 11:33

For me the very best thing about leaving the EU is fast becoming how increasingly outraged @Bearbehind is at us pathetic, thick plebs not doing as Bear tells us Grin
