Whether Elvis and Mickey Mouse have signed it as with the Demand For Another Referendum petition is as yet unknown.

I know that Claud Bottom and Ivor Biggin are signees.

Dapplegrey1 · 30/01/2017 19:38

Not at all Kaija - I was just making a comment about it not being the first time the Queen has had unpopular leaders to stay. Mugabe was another one.
Was there something about my comment which annoyed you?

surferjet · 30/01/2017 19:41

Did they protest about Mugabe?
Hmmm.
Why not?

Badders123 · 30/01/2017 19:41

US diplomats posted abroad all criticising his Muslim ban.
(Except the muslims in countries where he does business obv!)
HOW has this moron not been impeached yet?
HOW!?

Badders123 · 30/01/2017 19:42

Mugabe and Ceaucescu both controlled state media and reporters were denied access for years. No one knew what was going on in countries for years.
Sound familiar?.....

Kaija · 30/01/2017 19:42

It looked like classic whataboutery, dapple. Apologies if I was mistaken.

boredofbrexit · 30/01/2017 19:46

we do get it you know. project fear mk 3.
create a rift between usa uk then put it about that poor little uk will be all aline and needs the protection of the eu.
bit like little red riding hood.

SouthallGirl · 30/01/2017 19:46

I caught a bit of a programme called "100 Days" on BBC tonight. I thought it laughable that one of the Syrian refugees currently in Lebanon has stated he will not now want to come to the US because of Trump's directive. Apparently, he does not want to come to a racist country (his words)! He must be referring to the glory of equality and the pristine attitudes and behaviours of the ME.

Badders123 · 30/01/2017 19:48

I live in an area that voted overwhelmingly for leave (not me I hasten to add 😀)
I am baffled as to what the workers at the massive Toyota plant or the many many service industries think will happen to their jobs when this shit show culminates.
Good ole nige is off....has made it clear he is leaving the uk for the US or Europe (where he will still be protected by all ties lovely EU rules and regulations he so despises!....)
And he will be free to enjoy his 5k euro monthly pension of course!
Once the public realise they have been shafted to fluff the fragile egos of white, middle class "warriors" things will turn nasty.
Maybe nige realises this and that's why he is off? He won't be safe here in a few years imo.
Nor those like May et al who are appeasing the biggest threat to post 1945 peace and prosperity.
Appeasers generally aren't treated well from a historical POV.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 30/01/2017 19:49

for a lot of anti monarchy folk who continually tell us that UK is just a forgotten little blot and we should be sent to the naughty step if we havent torn the empire page out of our colouring in book, they don't half get all shouty about protecting the queen

I am easily confused...are we now saying that the people signing the petition are all remainers?

Ooh someone had a good correlation meme, i didnt understand it myself. Not being that educated Smile but it looked pretty and might fit. I will see if i can find it

Wait there

Badders123 · 30/01/2017 19:53

The US gives not a single shit about the UK.
We are seen as a relict of the past. And an irrelevant one now with brexit.
I generally admired Obama but his treatment of Gordon brown and his wife was shabby, frankly.
His comments prior to the referendum were badly phrased and pretty patronising. Even as a remainer it raised my hackles. It did the remain cause no good at all.
An isolationist US has always been a disaster for global security and prosperity.
Just read some bloody history and economics fgs! Stop getting your news from Facebook!

time4chocolate · 30/01/2017 19:53

Meant to post the below on here but it ended up on Westministenders Blush

Not sure if this has already been posted somewhere? Had a very quick skim on Westministenders but couldn't see it linked, however it would appear that their attention is elsewhere at the moment wink - positive post Brexit news for any scientists out there. Apologies if its a duplicate link

So "about 100" workers?
Shame about the 900 that will go when EMA leaves.....

My placard....
Super Callous Fragile Racist Sexist Nazi Potus

Kaija · 30/01/2017 20:00

Time, that is good news, thank you. But it needs some context as Patty pointed out on the other thread:

""About 100" scientists will work there. Doesn't really make up for the almost 900 jobs that will go when the EMA leaves London.

Also, the development and manufacture of medicines will take place in Denmark, and all profits will flow there."

And note the comments from Novo Nordisk's chief scientist:

"The Brexit vote had no effect on the decision, he added. “All the uncertainties about Brexit are unfortunate but they do not affect this collaboration,” Mr Thomsen said. “Oxford will remain a great global university whatever happens.” "

The US gives not a single shit about the UK
Factually incorrect.
If it wasn't for the US bailing us out after WW2 ( we were on our knees financially) god knows where we'd be.
They saved us - yes it was a loan ( which we only repaid about 15 years ago ) but without their help we'd have been sunk.
Stop getting your news from god knows where.

What a strange line of argument. An awful lot of things have changed in 70 years. Strangely enough.

SouthallGirl · 30/01/2017 20:08

"DT told all of America many times that he would do this if elected. He was elected. He is doing what he said. Are you all outraged because a politician is keeping promises?"

Totally agree. The maniacs in the street, burning stretch limos and rioting against increasing the security of their own country, must be ill. Their response surely is psychiatric. You see this sort of violence in persons kidnapped out of a cult to deprogramme them. That's what they remind me of.

surferjet · 30/01/2017 20:08

Just educating a remainer.

Kaja - haven't ventured back since I accidentally posted there but I will in a moment.

I expect, as on here, it will be met with some negativity but there you go. On second thoughts maybe I can't be arsed.

boredofbrexit · 30/01/2017 20:10

ooooh badders wins brexit bingo
(oh er I forgot, its not the winning its the taking part)

Badders123 · 30/01/2017 20:11

Are you kidding?
Europe was decimated after VE Day.
Most of Europe and parts of the uk had no infrastructure left at all...we had to build from the ground up...
The US meanwhile sat on the worlds gold reserves in Fort Knox.
Trump and his backers are fascists. Pure and simple. Just like dear old nige.
However, arguing with you surfer is rather pointless so I shall desist.
As I said, good luck
We're going to need it.

Kaija · 30/01/2017 20:12

Clearly not a lover of the democratic right to protest then Southall. Good to know.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 30/01/2017 20:12

the US no longer gives a shit about the uk

Fixed it for you
