So we've gone from not liking complex questions to apathy whilst Rome burns..

surferjet · 29/01/2017 12:02

This thread is not for the hysterical - that's all we say really.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 29/01/2017 12:06

yep and in other news silence speaks volumes.

surferjet · 29/01/2017 12:12

Not always.
My silence means I couldn't give a fuck about a country I don't live in not letting in people I don't know.
Why should I care? Do you get this worked up about all the awful things happening in every other country in the world?

This country needs to get tougher on who we let in -& the sooner the better. I care about what happens here which is why I'm 100% behind Brexit.

That's lovely of you, Surfer. So compassionate and caring. Are you Nigel Farage's wife by any chance?

howabout · 29/01/2017 12:16

Interesting interview with Assange on Peston this morning - too early for me to post a link yet. He was exploring the same ground as me in questioning double standards and the end justifies the means stance of the Obama administration and Clinton.

I note that none of the questioners have responded to my queries, although I took the trouble to respond to them. Sad

GhostofFrankGrimes · 29/01/2017 12:19

Do you get this worked up about all the awful things happening in every other country in the world?

Yes. I believe its called having a conscience. And thinking about someone other than myself.

you know what I don't care about? Flag waving and faux patriotism. I should be careful though this sort of talk is likely to get me in trouble with the new world order.

TheElementsSong · 29/01/2017 12:44

Colours -> mast

Bearbehind · 29/01/2017 12:54

My silence means I couldn't give a fuck about a country I don't live in not letting in people I don't know.

surfer, you've previously said things that surprised me but this has truly shocked me.

How anyone can be so narrow minded and bigoted is beyond me however, it's increasingly apparent you're not in a minority.

It still doesn't make your views anything other than disgraceful.

RortyCrankle · 29/01/2017 14:17

Oh dear, the outraged have entered the pub.

Better make it a triple whisky.

RortyCrankle · 29/01/2017 14:20

Not as disgraceful as your posts, Bear, salivating with glee at the prospect of Nissan workers (Leave voters) possibly losing their jobs because of Brexit. I thought that pretty much hit the nadir, rock bottom

squishysquirmy · 29/01/2017 14:39

Maybe in 50 years time, we wont be populist, far right politicians to Hitler, we'll be comparing them to Trump. That's not even the worst case scenario.

DoNotBringLulu · 29/01/2017 14:51

Surfer Brexit is supposed to be about looking outwards from a global perspective according to TM etc.....I think you may find there will be concessions in visas for a trade deal with India for example.

Bearbehind · 29/01/2017 15:00

rorty, we discussed the fact you read much more into what I said the Nissan workers at the time and several times since so that really is old news now.

The irony is, things aren't looking too secure for Nissan workers now anyway and you can be sure it wasn't what they hope for when/ if they voted Leave.

Do you support surfers stance of not giving a fuck about anyone else outside of British people? Do you think that is acceptable?

surferjet · 29/01/2017 15:09

You know the rules, we don't interrogate people on here. My posts are about how I feel about certain issues, whether anyone else agrees with me or not is irrelevant.

OP posts:
Bearbehind · 29/01/2017 15:12

Yes surfer, I know 'the rules' of this thread are that no one is prepared to engage in meaningful discussions.

I'm appalled that people would prefer to be associated with your bigoted xenophobic comments rather than call you out on them though.

surferjet · 29/01/2017 15:14

& I'd like to know why I should be hysterical about a temporary ban on immigrants from a handful of countries entering America - why should I be outraged?

OP posts:
Bearbehind · 29/01/2017 15:16

If you need that explaining surfer there's really no hope for you.

surferjet · 29/01/2017 15:31

No seriously, I'd like to know.
Should I have been outraged at anything Obama did?

Trump is a politician that tells the truth??

Hahahahahahahaha

Good lord, just as well this thread is intended to be light hearted

It isn't beyond me, it seems perfectly acceptable to be like that now, hate speech is cheered and flags waved. Truth and facts don't matter, we now have post-truth and alternative facts to feast on.

howabout · 29/01/2017 15:45

And in answer to my questions and Surfer this is a piece all about the piece of legislation passed by Obama which is the origins of DT's muslim ban.

sethfrantzman.com/2017/01/28/obamas-administration-made-the-muslim-ban-possible-and-the-media-wont-tell-you/

surferjet · 29/01/2017 15:49

Yep. Tons of stuff on FB about Obama and his treatment of refugees - funnily einough, I'm not seeing much on here.

'My silence means I couldn't give a fuck about a country I don't live in not letting in people I don't know. Why should I care?'
There was a five year old child detained for several hours before they were allowed to see their Iranian born mother. I watched a man on the news crying because he was waiting to meet his brother who he hadn't seen for 12 years who is in his late 70's who was turned away at the airport. I know we're not supposed to talk about Hitler/ Nazi Germany on these threads but you sound like someone in the 1940's saying that you don't give a fuck about Jews being gassed because it's not happening here and you don't know them. I am a very reluctant Remainer and generally have a lot of empathy with Leave voters but, when I read posts like surferjets I think WTF?
