Thanks Shirley I was waiting for that daily mail comment and total disregard for the contents therein Hmm
I don't consider my self left or right, I just want a government who sees it has a duty of care to me and my family and my fellow citizens, in every way.

I can certainly see some positives of the Union but for me, the bad things far far out weigh any good.

InfiniteSheldon · 21/11/2016 18:20

Yes I did Shirley I am going to follow that site for a while so thank you but I can see that we don't have control, I live with the consequences so 'telling' me I'm wrong won't wash I'm afraid.

winterisnigh · 21/11/2016 18:50

anyway, time for a pole cat matured ale Smile

Petronius16 · 22/11/2016 16:54

Still raining so I popped in to get dry. Evening all.

A little while back, on one of those 24 hours in a Police Station programmes, the Police had picked up eleven (?) immigrants at an M1 service station after a passing driver had reported banging.

The police were trying to prove the driver was guilty. They obtained TV footage of the van driving through Calais and Dover unchecked, so had to let the guy go.

The problem with this sentence from the Daily Mail,

EU free movement rules have let dozens of foreign criminals commit horrific offences in Britain, analysis reveals

is that it should read,

The incompetence of our Border Control staff, or the unwillingness of the government to employ sufficient staff has let dozens of foreign ...

Warmer and dryer now, thanks for the cuppa Fred. I'll get me coat.

BoredofBrexit · 22/11/2016 17:21

Well actually the only bit that matters is the bit you didn't type out, funny enough, the 'criminals commit horrific offence' part......did you overlook that when cherry picking?

Southallgirl · 22/11/2016 18:50

I think the time is approaching when A50 will have to be triggered to preserve the political process

I think we should leave before March, citing the equiv of constructive dismissal.

Southallgirl · 22/11/2016 19:11

A dossier released today lists 50 of the 'most dangerous' European criminals who have entered the UK freely, despite convictions in their countries

It's deliberate and masquerades as either not enough £ or inefficiency. Imo it's to destabilise our society. The long con of all long cons.

InfiniteSheldon · 23/11/2016 07:16

£ is rallying, unemployment down, retail sales booming, stock market up WineCakeStar

surferjet · 23/11/2016 08:03

New picture for the dartboard.

Oh look, another mega millionaire wanting to stop Brexit......
.....I wonder why?

To be fair surfer, Branson will do VERY nicely out of Brexit if it does go ahead. He personally won't loose financially either way.

Dapplegrey1 · 23/11/2016 15:22

Redtooth - how do you know?

Petronius16 · 23/11/2016 16:29

Bored, the three dots after 'foreign' are a literary device which in this case means continuing the original sentence. No cherry picking involved.

Returning from France via Eurostar, in Paris a French person checks my passport as does someone from the UK. The last couple of times at St Pancras as well. That shows we can control our own borders so I suppose, in one sense, we do follow EU rules.

Last night's local news had a filmed report of Gloucester Police checking documents of East European working in car washes. With them were two members of the Romanian Police and because of our links with the EU, documents could be checked with their country of birth on the spot. Thus sharing information across borders.

With all that in place I'm puzzled that any criminal can enter this country from abroad.

Tryingtosaveup · 23/11/2016 18:05

Evening, drink anyone. White wine please.
I've had a busy day so called into the local for some light chat.
I like the dart board pic.
I come backwards and forwards from the Republic of Ireland on the car ferry and no one looks at my passport.
Whereas getting into the U.S. or Australia is like trying to get into Fort Knoxx.
Anyway, cheers everyone.
Anyone heard what was in the autumn Statement

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 23/11/2016 18:09

Oh the autumn statement was a gem!Waiting to hear how it's all a conspiracy ... or from Gordon Brown selling all the gold ... or that of course Brexiteers knew all along this would happen but we have to look at the bigger picture .... or something.

DoctorTwo · 23/11/2016 18:32

The Autumn Statement proved Theresa May was as good as her word. Oh wait, it didn't. Can't say I'm either surprised or disappointed, they're neoliberals conditioned to look after their own.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 23/11/2016 18:40

I have looked at the "highlights" of the autumn statement

I got bored

seek and doctor what do your comments mean in the context of the statement?

I could wait for dh to come home and explain if its good or bad but he is not due home til 9pm

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 23/11/2016 18:41

Sorry seek and doctor

Feel free to pm if you think it will start another argument on here Grin

shirleyknotanotherbot · 23/11/2016 19:10

UK/RoI enjoy a Common Travel Area so no checks required.

shirleyknotanotherbot · 23/11/2016 19:14

Although this would likely have to change post Brexit, much to the consternation of many. I'm surprised you haven't heard about fears of a hard boarder being reintroduced between RoI and NI and the 'trouble' this may lead to.

surferjet · 24/11/2016 08:14

He personally won't loose financially either way

No, but his mates will.

Parking's a bit tight where we live, not helped the other day with someone managing to occupy two places.

Didn't recognise the car, checked tax details - no tax. Abandoned? Reported to DVLA, that night it moved! It was back again on Monday. I've reported it twice - still there.

No, nothing to do with Politics but this is a pub, right.Smile

surferjet · 24/11/2016 09:42

Oh how annoying Petronius16 have you reported it to your local council?

And yes, we can chat about anything here Smile it's my day off so I'm here all day redecorating - think I'll go all gold like Trump Tower.

Rufus you've probably caught up by now, sorry for delay - in case you haven't, the cost of Brexit is £59 billion.

I somehow thought the Brexiteers would have had something to say about that! Mine's a pint of sand to bury my head in rules, I think.
