Good News for Leavers

To balance up this forum somewhat I thought it would be nice to have a thread with something more positive for us Leavers.

I think the attached is excellent news and well done Theresa May. www.reuters.com/article/us-britain-eu-may-idUSKCN1120AK

It's pretty obvious to most Leavers that creating a new Government Department and putting the right people in place will take time and hopefully in 2017 we will see some move towards our aim.

No one at the prime minister's office was available to comment. Which IMO sums up the position.

Theresa May has wanted to be PM for a very long time. I doubt that she will do anything which is likely to compromise her position and this would be a risky gamble.

To add, I think she will have taken notice of Cameron's gamble, which ended his PMship in ignominy.

It pretty much sums up the problem when leavers deem a story from an 'unconfirmed source' that the PM's office are unavailable for comment on is 'excellent news'.

I agree Theresa May is playing her cards close to her chest, but this may not even be her decision in the end. The pending legal action is common knowledge (or at least, it is to the leavers who thought it was a good idea to go and protest against Mishcon de Reya's offices). Treating this as a fait accompli without even acknowledging the legal action is shoddy reporting, even by the Telegraph's low standards. (And Reuters should also have picked up on this, rather than just repeating what the Telegraph have reported, parrot fashion.)

I'm not at all surprised Lyra many Remainers appear compelled to do what they do best - ie spread negativity and doom and gloom. It must be exhausting.

I just thought it would be nice to see something positive on here for a change, shocking, I know Smile

I heard some speculation that TM could be thinking along the lines of having an agreement with the EU similar to Canada. What would you leavers be happy with, out of interest?

Don't worry bear, Surfer and Rorty can keep confirming each others bias, and it can continue not to stand up to scrutiny, they'll just stick fingers in their ears and go lalalala, now that shouting PROJECT FEAR doesn't work.

It's interesting that Brexit voters seem to detest the idea of any kind of parliamentary debate or scrutiny prior to the triggering of A50. What are they so afraid of?
Surfer, you think this is a 'great article' when basically all it's saying is that May might (according to unnamed sources) trigger A50 without a vote. Why is that such positive news? You seem positively eager to rush forward blindly when surely proper scrutiny/debate about our exit strategy is in the best interests of our nation. Why would you not favour this?
Maybe Rorty could respond, too.

They are afraid that any level of scrutiny will reveal what a crap idea the whole thing is.

Or they don't want their victory brought to any kind of scrutiny, you know the one that asks the hard questions.

Oh and that most MPs would vote against it.
