THE BREXIT FALLOUT CONTINUES - THREAD NINE

The Tories have settled their scores and May is now PM.
Is it May's Day or May Day for the people?

After careful consideration I thought the best way to sum up the Labour Contest was in one simple picture. May Day, might also be appropriate here too.

Things are moving fast, so hold on tight for the Brexit Ride

Someone has put a sign saying 'Sorry World' up outside his house!

TM has stopped for the evening now to chat to Merkel and do that polite thank you for congratulations thing ---- to everyone except Corbyn, who doesn't seem to have congratulated her yet.

Chalalala · 13/07/2016 22:30

I think giving all the foreign/trade jobs to brexiteers was both the right thing to do in terms of democracy, and the politically shrewd things to do.

she's giving the eurosceptics what they've always wanted, a chance to prove they were right. Let's see what they do with it.

Does Grayling remind anyone else of this man?

Right I'm over the smugness now.
I'm very happy TM is PM. I hope she sorts everything out. First time since the vote I've felt like that and it's good!

Marking spot

TheNorthRemembers · 13/07/2016 22:35

Marking my spot as well.

Felascloak · 13/07/2016 22:37

I know mother. May is the only person I even vaguely trust to be competent enough to sort it out.
I still think we might end up with a second referendum when the brexiters fail to get a deal in the EU.
It's very odd because I'm not a Tory voter but at the moment I'd settle for someone trying to help rather than feathering their political nest Grin

thecatfromjapan · 13/07/2016 22:37

Can't wait for the next instalment of 'Cabinet Appointment'.

My, oh my, what will Boris Johnson do? I still loathe him and think he is criminally irresponsible, frankly.

ShowMe I am digesting what you have posted earlier. I'm in shock, actually. And I'm getting incredibly angry. I'm going to think a little before writing a fuller response.

Seriously, stay safe. Sad How pitiable that I might write that about attending a meeting supporting a future Labour leader. How utterly disgraceful.

Felascloak · 13/07/2016 22:38

Also I am a feminist so a female PM is worth celebrating in any circumstances afaic

RedToothBrush · 13/07/2016 22:38

What about JRM for Leader of the House of Commons? Its currently Grayling's job so there is every chance he will be moving.

Its actually what he'd be ideal for. And it would keep him out of trouble... and making a nuisance of himself in other ways.

mother - no news on Hunt, Gove or Morgan so officially they are all still in post. Most reckon Gove will stay as prison service are ok with him.

Ed Miliband has congratulated her:

.@theresa_may Congratulations on becoming PM. Good words in Downing Street. Time will tell. I have unused material...

I listened to this documentary on R4 this morning about JC. Very interesting part when they talked about the left wing faction get together when the leadership contest was announced. They decided they should put someone forward as they usually did. Ken L had taken his turn previously, Diane A said she'd done it the last time and wasn't doing it again, so they all looked at JC, who shrugged and said ok, it's my turn I suppose. None of them expected him to get close. And here we are! It''s worth a listen

TheBathroomSink · 13/07/2016 22:41

JRM as leader of house would be good, I think if he can't be Governor of the Colonies or something, it's probably the best fit for him. Does he have to get something though? As far as I can see it's just LM's latest campaign!

ok. no-one announce anything for at least the next 8 hours. I'm going to bed and my computer needs to cool down, I've had 20-odd tabs open since 10.00 today, and done no work again!

JRM is one known as one of the biggest tory rebels. He's known to filibuster frequently too. Giving him an actual job might just fill his time up, so he can't be a pain in the arse.
