According to the FT on Twitter 😳

OP posts:

Good, glad he's leaving, maybe now the Leavers won't be tarnished with the brush of racists which he has come to represent

Well said.

As somebody who voted to leave "in spite" of the leave campaign, rather than somebody who voted because of it, I'll be glad when the bloody lot of them piss off back under the rocks they came from.

We need someone pro Europe but not pro full EU membership to lead us going forwards.

SapphireStrange · 04/07/2016 16:37

I think the PR referendum was spectacularly arsed up. No one really knew what we were meant to be voting for.

I'd heartily support PR, personally (and voted for it when I had the chance).

dontrustcharisma · 04/07/2016 18:10

Rats leaving a sinking ship indeed. non of the Leave leaders can handle the shitstorm they started

This is entirely how I feel also, JoysMum

Night Yes I read that piece at the weekend.

Arron Banks stated that he wanted to set up and bankroll a new post-referendum political party, not necessarily headed up by Farage, to replace UKIP.

I did wonder if Farage standing down as UKIP leader would free him up to lead this new party?

Surferjet · 04/07/2016 18:21

Farage was never part of the official leave team anyway, plus he's still an MEP & has promised to make sure Brexit runs smoothly. & as for rats leaving a sinking ship, Gove & Leadsom are running for PM and haven't gone anywhere?
Do you actually know anything about what's going on?

JudyCoolibar · 04/07/2016 18:24

How on earth is Farage going to have any influence on how Brexit runs, whether he's leading UKIP or not? He's made pretty sure that the EU Parliament won't listen to him.

kansasmum · 04/07/2016 18:24

Another chicken shit dickweasil politician jumping ship.

Surferjet · 04/07/2016 18:28

Well he's still an MEP, & he'll make certain we're not shafted by anyone, he doesn't have to be UKIP leader to do that.

JudyCoolibar · 04/07/2016 18:38

He's an MEP whose voting record places him at no.746 in the roll-call according to number of votes he has participated in. If he can't even be bothered to turn up for votes, how on earth he is going to have any influence on exit terms?

Showmethewaytogohome · 04/07/2016 19:06

Sufer You are kidding right? Did you not see the guy giving him the hand shuffle doing the rounds - and that was from before his latest antics

He has only represented his own views.,if he had any principles he would stop taking EU money including the 15k a day for his security guards

crossroads3 · 04/07/2016 19:13

he'll make certain we're not shafted

He is the one who has shafted all of us, including the people he claims to represent.

mathanxiety · 04/07/2016 19:18

He has fallen afoul of Arron Banks, who bankrolls Ukip. Carswell is far more pro business.

Expect Ukip to now rebrand itself, minus the immigration stance.
In a not unrelated development, expect National Front membership to rise.

NickCleggsSlippers · 04/07/2016 19:25

This saddens me.

Because now he is going to be looking for something else to fuck up, at least at UKIP we knew what the slimey bastard was up to.

Atenco · 04/07/2016 19:33

Mmm, just heard the news on Radio 4, he seems to be there idol, I've less loving tributes to dead national heroes

HalleLouja · 04/07/2016 19:35

I have a good source who said he thinks his work is done and will be back only if the government doesn't go through with Brexit. I did prefer my theory he was a Bregretter but that isn't true. He is still an MEP though.

Nightofthetentacle · 04/07/2016 19:36

Dragons, yup, it would be surprising if NF didn't at least consider joining Aaron Best's new party.

Math, just seen your post, do you really think they would ditch the immigration stance completely? I just dunno if there's the same appeal if you don't have something to really rally against, and immigration is a perfect candidate.

Showmethewaytogohome · 04/07/2016 19:40

I think they are going to ask for PR again and campaign on that.....to let the right wing bastards in......I WILL actively campaign against that. In an ideal world it would be great...not now...and not with these lying charlatans

PeaceOfWildThings · 04/07/2016 21:41

How about Nigel Farage as the next Top Gear presenter/producer?
About as politically correct and opinionated as Clarkson.

JudyCoolibar · 04/07/2016 21:41

Nah. Clarkson is actually considerably brighter than Farage.

Surferjet · 04/07/2016 21:46

One thing I'm sure we'll all agree on.
Isn't is great we've got women going for the top job in both parties.

gonetoseeamanaboutadog · 04/07/2016 22:42

He was a thoroughly nasty, offensive, racist Nazi as a teenager also.

Moocowmama · 05/07/2016 00:55

In a dream world, I've just come across a deep, dark, remote well to throw the constantly resigning bigot-in-denial , Farage and his cronies down.....followed by the bumbling self serving Johnson, the conniving, smirking backstabber Goves, and lets not forget the silent, disloyal coward that is the heir apparent Osborne. In the interest of splashing bodies at the bottom of the well, clawing themselves over each other as they reach their just deserts, I'd launch Corbyn, Eagles and McDonnell down to spice up this awful ending of a decent country as we know it.

How did we ever reach this point ? Is it a perfect storm of self-destruction for which the only overseas supporter is the pretend politician and privileged ,property developer, Donald Trump.?

What a horrible, divisive nation we've become overnight....which is bringing the worst out of me, for which I apologize, and I'm sure a few others might feel the same. Be careful what you wish for ,as the country looks forward to be virtually ungovernable for the foreseeable future.

I've got 3 children, so my thoughts, along with a lot of other mums are their role in the future and what they've been denied, so please don't PM me with all sorts of personal abuse because none of it adds to what is a good debate at the moment, with some really valid points of view.

May be we get the country we deserve, who knows ?

crossroads3 · 05/07/2016 06:12

Moocowmama I feel the same (and David Cameron also needs to be thrown in the well, for gambling the country away in return for Tory votes Angry).

Every morning I wake up and feel OK for a second, until the horror of what is happening washes over me again and the sick feeling returns to my stomach.

I have also been wondering if we get the country we deserve.
