March? What march?

Can anyone else find much news coverage of this 'democratic march against democracy'? Twitter is full of info, but tune into the news channels and you would be forgiven for thinking it wasnt happening. Kind of has the ring of 'nobody cares' really doesnt it?

A number of marchers posting on twitter seem to think they are geographically being removed from Europe, although I guess you could forgive them given the odd name given to the march itself 'March for europe'

Why is it not 'March for E.U'? Isnt that what they are really there for? Anyone else as confused as I am?

Lastgirl what's so offensive about 50,000 people peacefully marching?
Confused

Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 19:24

Nothing Apocalypse, whats so offensive about 35 million people excercising their democratic rights?

OP posts:
smallfox1980 · 02/07/2016 19:24

It was a very small majority lastgirl, and it is clear from some of the reasons giving for voting out that many out voters weren't voting on the issue at hand.

Even Farage and Boris said 48/52 would leave unfinished business. As coming out of the eu is irrevocable, I think people have a democratic right to protest.

You see that split?Wouldn't pass a law in the "undemocratic EU" you can't claim democracy when you want it and not when you don't.

Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 19:25

And hooray! I finally saw some coverage on sky! Finally! Lots of baguettes being thrust 😉

OP posts:
SugarPlumTree · 02/07/2016 19:27

I would love for someone to actually address the issue of what Farage said about 48/52 being a small majority and unfinished business instead of yet another poster coming along to say how disgusting 50,000 peacefully marching is ?

Figmentofmyimagination · 02/07/2016 19:28

Last girl - the march maintained good humour throughout, but it's message and purpose is absolutely serious. AC Grayling articulates it better than I ever could, in his letter to all 650 MPs. In case you haven't read it yet, here it is.

www.nchlondon.ac.uk/2016/07/01/professor-c-graylings-letter-650-mps-urging-parliament-not-support-motion-trigger-article-50-lisbon-treaty-1-july-2016/

I suggest you read it first and then come back and say whether you still think the marchers were 'disgusting'.

This is a parliamentary democracy and people have the freedom to protest peacefully. There has not been a more important time to do this in many years.

ARumWithAView · 02/07/2016 19:28

That's probably the most pathetic response I've ever read, and shows how little interest you have in being truthful.

You posted a photo to smear today's protest. I have, at no point, attempted to justify its message that old white people should die. You've been caught out, and you can't even put together a response without throwing more accusations around.

You don't need to 'take my word for it' that the photo isn't from today's march -- it provably isn't. You don't need to backtrack and say 'yeah, well: it was just to illustrate a general point' You posted it on a thread of banners from today's march.

'Did I check the source? No. My bad.'

That's not an apology, and it's not enough. Take some responsibility. How much other bullshit have you circulated? How many times has this been shared on Twitter, reposted on Facebook, as evidence of what happened at today's march?

MelanieCheeks · 02/07/2016 19:28

I read somewhere this week - if you're not still angry about the referendum, and not still discussing it, then you didn't understand the seriousness of it.

Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 19:28

No one bloody cares what Farage says! How many times??? The man is a collossal twat!

OP posts:
Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 19:31

Rum, what exactly are you accusing me of? Because I did a quick image save from twitter without checking the source, which I conceded? Jeez... Save SOME tinfoil, dont use it all at once will you!

OP posts:
Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 19:34

Just to clarify, I have not shared that image anywhere or disseminated bullshit in other places. How dare you! I accepted your point, you utterly patronising twit. I have done much research outside of twitter believe it or not. I was shocked at the image, so what? Should I have checked the source? YES. Get the hell over yourself.

We were on the March. I didn't see and baguettes though.

Best sign I saw was " don't be a fucktard Piglet" Grin

It was very peaceful and loving and yes very long. I've just got in so not seen any coverage yet.

March? What march?
March? What march?
SugarPlumTree · 02/07/2016 19:35

Ok Future, you're right - No one care what Farage says unless it suits them at the time and he needs to be distanced from now by Leave HQ . Don't worry, I totally get it now and I think a lot of people who voted remain are starting to now. It is actually making me Grin finally.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 02/07/2016 19:35

Figment A C Grayling's letter is excellent. Not to be confused with Chris Grayling, of course.

I think OP thinks democracy started and stopped again last Thursday.

ARumWithAView · 02/07/2016 19:35

That's exactly what I'm saying. You either wilfully misrepresented a piece of information, or you placed it as fact picture of a banner at today's march without bothering to check its accuracy.

Can you see why that's a problem?

smallfox1980 · 02/07/2016 19:35

People do care what Farage says, and what Boris says, they got given a national platform in order to put their agenda forward.

You can't say: " No one cares" just because at this point what they said in the past doesn't suit your agenda.

LondonKiwiMummy · 02/07/2016 19:36

You're certainly very keen to smear the people who marched today, without foundation as it turns out.

Stop being so vile please. We all need to calm the fuck down, and you are most definitely part of the problem.

Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 19:36

And Im the one sneering? You are basically accusing me of knowingly disseminating far right material!!!

OP posts:
Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 19:38

Point out how I am being vile please KIWI.

OP posts:
Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 19:38

Posting some funny pics from the protest (including one not so funny one that I should have source checked) ?

OP posts:
Marmitelover55 · 02/07/2016 19:40

I think the marchers are fab. The deal is not done yet and our politicians need to see/understand the depth of feeling on the remain side so that if can be taken into account during negotiations when if article 50 is invoked.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 02/07/2016 19:40

Your post at 19:34, OP, is probably worthy of deletion due to being a personal attack. Oh, the righteous anger at being called out on something.

Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 19:40

And I FUCKING admitted my error.

OP posts:
UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 02/07/2016 19:41

Along with a personal attack on the person that called you out.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 02/07/2016 19:42

Rum made a very good point - which was lost on you, because it interrupted a thread you'd hope would be loads of Leavers sneering at the march.

Well, shame on you.
