The leave camp will cherry pick the bits of news that back up their frustration & disappintment - that's only natural. But for every piece of negative reporting there's a positive one

Ok, that sounds like a fun game! I'll start: increase in celebratory racism.

Your move?

the world does not see us as idiots

I beg to differ.

Remainers pick too. But we've got a whole fucking orchard of cherry tree fukups to work with.

Surferjet - please let us know the positive information. I am desperately looking for this. At the moment I see a massively divided society, poor economic outlet as evidenced by reports of companies withdrawing investment from the UK, the FTSE 250 and the agency ratings of the U.K, and a massive rise in hate crime. This country is unrecognisable from the one a week and a half ago.

Report
SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 01/07/2016 09:22

A lot of leavers think the hate crime is made up/exaggerated/part of a Buzzfeed conspiracy, of course Confused

But for every piece of negative reporting there's a positive one

Well, we won't get Boris. But we might get Michael.

Things like the pound falling - do the negatives of that outweigh the positives?

The Tory party is in turmoil - a good thing but a bad thing for the country.

There is uncertainty. My basic knowledge of financial markets is that uncertainty is bad.

Nothing is certain. No one knows what the deal will look like.

Ooh yes, can I play?

There's a wee bit of the research and universities funding that we'll need to replace. Just a bit, you understand - easy to make up from the £350 million a week Magic Money Tree.

Ooh. Conspiracy theorists. I love those fuzzy brained fools. So creative and so darned right all the time.

So what was it? Aliens, lizards, new world order, Prince Philip or the wombles?

Most of those problems were already there, that's why we need change! Do you really think everything was great before the referendum? are you saying as a society we didn't have division or unrest? Are you really saying that?

Why is The Great Plan a secret. Who is the great leader?

Original there's a Buzzfeed article with thousands of internet death threats to Luke Lewis, in response to his facebook posts about Brexit. Racist, violent, everything you'd expect.

However, worry not. What it is is, Luke Lewis wrote those posts in order to make the racists post to him, so he could write an article on Buzzfeed about it - they were goaded out of their usual measured stance into threatening to fucking beat some patriotism into him, etc.

And since Buzzfeed is 'cancer', and only the Indonesian social media is to be trusted, we need not worry about the celebratory racism. There's always been a little bit of racism around, but the left and the media right now are inventing and exaggerating the rest.

From Yes Prime Minister
We need to do something
This is something
Let's do this.

Just because there's problems does not mean that leaving the EU was the right answer.

Ok, Surfer, so your positive bit of news is that things were bad before? I'm not yet persuaded.

The Telegraph article is terrifying and if Gove is in charge, we can say goodbye to our hard-won employment rights.

As for moving forward, I posted a thread this morning about the motion for a referendum on the exit plan which has been tabled in Parliament. The proposal is that the public vote on whether they want the exit plan available eg freedom of movement intact or to stay in the EU. My hope is that this motion is passed, the referendum is held and when people are given the choice with the full knowledge that the Leave campaign lied that this time we vote to stay.

surferjet your dismissal of the rise in racist attacks as "division we already had" will I am sure be of great comfort to those on the recieving end. On the other hand they may view it as you dismissing their experience as "not yhat important".

Carry on feeling the joy wont you.

I on the other hand think you are deluded and goady.

Saying things were bad before isn't a positive bit of news - can you give us one of those now?

Report
Surferjet · 01/07/2016 09:33

How would things have improved by staying in the EU?
Can you list them for me?

Yes I'd expect death threats whatever anyone says. It's the modern shitty norm:

'I love kittens '
'die you bitch'
'want we all be friends?'
'I'm going to kill you and all your family '

Now keyboard warriors are less worrisome than someone who will actually go up to a stranger face to face with the same message. But I believe social media shit fuels the numbnuts in the real world to act out their video game violence.

The economy certainly has had a kicking, but I'm struggling to see how that's a good thing.

It's because people aren't 'rich twats' that they're worried!

OP you said that for every bit of negative news there was a positive one, now can you please give one single solitary example of this?

MangoMoon · 01/07/2016 09:38

I'm happy still.

The Tories are behaving far more grown up than labour at the mo.
They backed Cameron then when he stepped down got on with a leadership contest.
Labour on the other hand are behaving like a bunch of spoiled children.

One week on - the pound & markets are slowly recovering, Armageddon has not happened & the sun still rises & falls.

I hope that a Tory leader is announced soonest - I would like Theresa May as leader initially, with Sajid Javid as Chancellor, with a strong cross party Brexit team created including good representation from NI, Wales & Scotland as well.

Regardless of who becomes PM, Article 50 I would like to see invoked as soon as there is a new PM.

As suspected, OP can't actually come up with how leaving the EU Is positive so answers that question with a question.

It pretty clear that OP and posters like purits were the 'protest' Leave voters who think leaving the EU will solve all the country's ills- last week that was naive, this week it is just fucking stupid.

It is getting tiresome though to continue to read about leavers & remainers - it's happened, time to stop living in the past & move on imo.

Well fuck off, the leavers won ! Stick that up your rich twats and blow away the cobwebs.

Oh you have so won the Internets with your beautifully researched ad articulated arguments. Totally got me, I've seen the light Grin
