To clarify, by 'NI, Welsh & Scottish representation' I meant that it should not just be lip-service representation but strong minds & people that will fight for those areas iyswim.

After just one week, with all the political turmoil currently underway it is impossible to speculate long term.

But it was even more impossible to speculate eight days ago. And you voted for something which would inevitably have long term major consequences without having any idea what those consequences might be? Why would anyone with half a brain do that?

I know one leave voter, who didn't realise her daughter who works in France would have to leave her job if Brexit happens. Her daughter is not happy with her mothers vote.
Plus in defence of the elderly, most of the older people I know who can remember the 2nd world war voted to remain as their has been peace ever since the EU started up.

surfer, what is the relevance of those 3 photos.

You've been repeatedly asked how you think leaving the EU is going to be positive and you are unable to list even one.

What the leave campaigners 'said' is long gone now. Them saying the know how ordinary people feel means bigger all now.

How is your vote going to make your life better?

Right, surfer, so some non-white people back leave. That really answers my questions about funding, jobs and employment rights. Thanks.

Well Judy, as has been bandied about at length on MN - clearly I don't have 'half a brain'.
As a leaver I am a thick, xenophobic, racist twat who shouldn't have been given a vote without an IQ test.

Happy now?!

Move on you say? Accept we've lost...

This isn't a fucking playground fall out. No I won't move on - when Fascists are being vindicated across Europe and hate crime is on the increase.

What a load of bollocks. I've yet to hear a well articulated, thoughtful argument for Leave.

How do you feel about the young folk I know who have lost jobs? About English becoming a minority language across Europe? About the fact that unless we royally fuck ourselves and withdraw from the single market, the free movement of people has to apply.

Thus all those bigoted twats who didn't want foreigners are not going to get what they want anyway.

Just an economy sinking like a well in the bottom of a shit pile the size of Europe...

Everything's a bit bad but I hope we get a team to sort it out a bit and I'm walking on air with that aspiration!

Blimey.

MangoMoon · 01/07/2016 10:04

Are you seriously saying your only hope is just to have a team to invoke article 50?

Again, cherry picking words to back up your indignation.

"Happy, can't wait for Gove to take over, excited for the future..."

Well, Gove (possibly) or whoever with the backing of Murdoch/Dacre. S. Vine spelt out how the media powers are effectively king makers/breakers with the influence they wield.

And don't worry about the care home. Andrea Leadsom said nurses could come from Vietnam and south America. Simply replacing migration from another area.

Oh and with regards to the 'older' vote - I heard that under 65s voted more to remain, over 65s to leave but that it then swung back again to Remain for the voters in their late 80s and 90s (ie the ones who lived through the war) and I thought that was very interesting if true.

I'm feeling optimistic🔮🌅🌞
although it's a rollercoaster ride isn't it!

The vibe from the remainiacs on here is still mostly snarky sarcasm

Interesting too that the majority of the young vote (18-24) were not particularly bothered one way or another & we're happy to go along with whatever the outcome of the referendum.

Ditto. My parents in their early 90s and their friends all voted to remain and are disgusted by the result.

Not at all, your points 1, 2 and 3 amounted to just that.

Please could you try and help surfer out with articulating exactly what you voted Leave for and why you are still so happy.

How will leaving the EU improve your life or the lives of others?

The reasons are myriad and have been given countless times by countless leave voters across countless threads.

The question was: are you still happy?

Well, yes I am.

Further question: what do you hope will happen now?

Answer: please read my posts above.

We will have 'controlled' immigration which will ease the burden on our housing, schools, hospitals, & jobs - immigration was the key issue in this referendum, so on that issue alone things will improve.
As for the rest? I'll admit I'm just happily opimistic.

Wow, I said none of that. I queried why anyone would vote for something without, on their own admission, having any idea what the long term consequences would be. It's fascinating that you answer with that totally baseless piece of "Poor me, I'm being attacked" rather than a logical response.

mango don't you see that this is why Remain voters get so wound up?

You can't give even one single example of what you hope will change for the better, why you want to leave the EU; deferring to other voters and other threads is just copping out.

StrawberryandCreamPips · 01/07/2016 10:12

purits, I thought this was a thread for happy, positive leavers. You sound bitter, resentful, and frankly quite deranged.

You just got exactly what you wanted. So where's your self-respect, or did the EU pinch that too yah boo sucks to them??

Surferjet, we won't have the controlled immigration you expect. We will still have obligations to the former colonies, we will still have an asylum system, we will still have freedom of movement for EU citizens, and we will still have illegal immigrants. And the number is the last category will increase because we will have to process people in the UK instead of at Calais.
