Anyone agree?

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 09/07/2016 17:25

Just got round to reading today's Times ... Leadsom really does seem both not up to the job and also quite unpleasant.

mollie123 · 10/07/2016 08:40

a 'positive abstain' is still an abstain and is the only kind of abstention in the house of commons other than being absent
to those who attack her for allegedly voting 'against' she also voted 'for' Shock
since when has being a Christian been an unacceptable belief system when no thinking person levels criticism at the London mayor just because of his religion but rightly judges him on his policies.
jacques
All this doesn't matter because the gulable Brexiters will defend us to the hilt because we climbed on a big red equally lying bus.
the word is 'gullible' and this is a nasty comment to make regardless of spelling!

TheElementsSong · 10/07/2016 09:12

Has anyone said that Christianity is an unacceptable belief system? I hope this isn't part of the build up to yet another "poor old oppressed majority" narrative. You do know that both AL and TM are practising Christians, yes?

Mistigri · 10/07/2016 09:53

I searched for "Leadsom4Leader" on Twitter just now and her support base is this utterly weird mix of kippers, anarchists and (I kid you not) Labour leavers. Tories are in a small minority. Obviously this doesn't represent the Tory party membership, many or most of whom won't be on Twitter, but it's certainly very curious.

It's a good thing the Tory party has a rule that prevents new members from voting :-/

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 10/07/2016 10:01

I think Andrea should be pretty horrified by the sort of following she's received on Twitter. I was reading them yesterday, and a lot of them are the really nationalist, (racist), far right type that tweet stuff like "Immigrants Out, Britain for the British" etc. Many abusing the Times journalist, for, er, reporting Andrea's own words.

But then, considering she did retweet that "foreigners" tweet - maybe not.

Mistigri · 10/07/2016 10:05

It's pretty obvious that the social media campaign is being financed by Arron Banks so I suppose none of this should surprise me. She's basically the Leave.EU candidate.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 10/07/2016 10:13

Where is your tax return Andrea?

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 10/07/2016 10:50

I fear we could be waiting some time for that tax return. She must be thanking her lucky stars the labour party are imploding as it takes the focus off her blundering, her dodgy CV and her tax affairs this weekend. I hope journalists don't let the issue drop.

BeMorePanda · 10/07/2016 10:55

The classic way to say something really nasty is to preface it with "well I don't want to say ........" And then say the nasty thing.

If you really don't want to say it, you wouldn't say it.

AL has got in a huge tizz with the Times, for having been reported in the Times, saying exactly what she said in an interview with the Times.

Sh really strikes me as being a very stupid, disingenuous type of political person. And really fucking Whiny too.

BeMorePanda · 10/07/2016 10:59

The way I read her stance on marriage is it should be reserved for CHRISTIAN heterosexuals only, as marriage is all about god. Loon!

JudyCoolibar · 10/07/2016 11:40

to those who attack her for allegedly voting 'against' she also voted 'for'

Ridiculous thing to do, and fundamentally dishonest. I'd have had slightly more respect for her if she'd had the courage of her bigoted convictions.

Inkanta · 10/07/2016 11:57

Can't help but think that the Remainers' on here are fighting to have a remainer for PM - Judy and Chardonnay

Theresa is pro-fox hunting and is against gay adoption

Not a word a word of criticism directed at her though.

Why? Cos she voted to remain in the EU.

So obvious!

Inkanta · 10/07/2016 12:03

Some remainers are still fighting to remain. They do not accept the democratic decision that was made to come OUT.

Yes Andrea Leadsom has made some mistakes but bloody hell the hate directed at her just ridiculous. It's obviously because she wants to take us out of the EU. And out fast. The remainers can't stand that prospect, and fair enough, but at least be honest about it.

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/andrea-leadsom-brexit-speech-conservative-leadership-election-next-tory-leader-a7124641.html

In this interview AL stares her belief that marriage should be reserved for Christians and involve god.

SnowBells · 10/07/2016 12:10

Inkanta

Watch this: Ian Hislop: Remainers are entitled to go on making an argument.

Very. Good point he's making there.

By the way: the reason I don't support AL is because I know people who knew her. But who knows? Maybe as a Remainer, I should be FOR her, because unlike with Theresa May, nothing would get done and everything would remain as is. Grin

JudyCoolibar · 10/07/2016 12:17

Turns out she's in with the "Gayness can be cured" idiots - www.buzzfeed.com/jamesball/andrea-leadsoms-ugandan-project-has-ties-to-an-anti-gay-chri?utm_term=.ufoA6Nx5Z8#.qw06nXY94e

JudyCoolibar · 10/07/2016 12:20

Inkanta, frankly I don't want either May or Leadsome to be PM. Even if Leadsome was rabidly pro-Remain I wouldn't want her as PM, because she is so obviously deceitful and incompetent. Can you seriously say her serial lying is just making "some mistakes"?

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 10/07/2016 12:27

Inkanta - both May and Leadsom are 'leave'. Nobody has any guarantee that either will press the big green button when it comes to it, but they have both said they will.

Here's my problem with Leadsom as PM: Lack of experience, only an MP since 2010, lied on her CV (let's face it, she did), poster girl for the BNP and Kippers, being described by Treasury officials as "the worst Minister we've ever had". No amount of "fresh approach" rhetoric from her will negate these things. Also, dubious tax practices (which were called in to question long before the Referendum), failing to publish her tax return, her dealings with the Times (saying those things, and then having a tantrum about the headline). She's just dodgy through and through.

Inkanta · 10/07/2016 12:29

'Can you seriously say her serial lying is just making "some mistakes"?'

The C.V. you mean? She says she stands by her CV.

Judy - 'serial lying' - why use such dramatic language. She's only been campaigning a week.

Did you vote remain?

Inkanta · 10/07/2016 12:39

Hey I am disappointed about Andrea's stance on gay marriage and fox hunting but I am not comfortable watching this hate directed at her.

Theresa is no great shakes herself with a similar stance on gay adoption and fox hunting, but the remainers do not seem to bat an eyelid on that.

If some of you remainers are basically fighting to have a remainer as PM, nothing wrong with that, just come clean and admit it.

SnowBells · 10/07/2016 12:41

Inkanta

Let's face it. As I said before... Remainers are probably better off with her as a PM, because she'd get nothing done and nothing would change.

The problem is that if that happened, there'd be turmoil (can you imagine the upset of Leave voters?). So we Remainers must choose the lesser of two evils. I don't like Theresa May, but she might actually get something done, even if that something is not what I want and that something would just make the country poorer.

Inkanta · 10/07/2016 12:52

SnowBells.

'Remainers are probably better off with her as a PM, because she'd get nothing done and nothing would change.'

Andrea said she would get on with the job of getting us out of the EU staightaway and Theresa said she'd go slower and start next year, so I assume that would concern some remainers.

Mistigri · 10/07/2016 13:22

Personally, I think that May is far better equipped to take the UK out of the EU. And I'm a remainer.

It's not just about the EU for most people: it's about wanting someone at least minimally competent and credible in charge.

TheElementsSong · 10/07/2016 13:50

Did you not notice all the comments about nits or tapeworm/ devil and deep blue sea/ (my personal favourite being the tarantula one Grin). Does it seem that TM is much-loved? She's a shit choice IMO, but less shit than AL.

JudyCoolibar · 10/07/2016 14:16

The C.V. you mean? She says she stands by her CV.

So what? There is plenty of evidence that her CV is deceitful.

Judy - 'serial lying' - why use such dramatic language. She's only been campaigning a week

She was lying well before she started the current campaign.

You seem to be keen on her invoking Article 50 quickly. Do you think that's a good idea when we have no qualified negotiators?

This is a woman who complains that she was stitched up by a Times journalist. In fact the recording shows she wasn't. But if she can't deal with a reporter, how do you fancy her chances negotiating with Merkel and Putin?
