People don't realise should the government choose to act on this opinion poll a bill still has to pass through parliament - a parliament where the majority of MPs do not favour leaving.

There is a topic for this where I am sure OP will find many posters that want to talk about it.
For me I don't go in to EU topic as I don't wish to discuss I follow about it on the news. I made my vote and will see what happens.

I am appalled at the arrogance of those who voted Remain who think that the wishes of the majority should be ignored just because they don't like it. As far being lied to, the people who voted Remain may have already seen the article about France and Germany creating a superstate where every nation has to have the Euro as the currency and all laws will be made for them. You can ignore these things all you like but that kind of action from the EU is why I and most other people I know, voted OUT.

As for the reports of racism that are in the news, I suspect there are no more cases now than there were before the referendum but of course the BBC and lots of other media channels were all biased in favour of the EU, mainly because they get funding from them.

I am thoroughly sick of the hate and insults being bandied about on Facebook and other social media, but for some reason everyone who considers themselves "educated" and voted Remain, think that is acceptable.

Well I don't and I will defend my decision no matter who has a problem with it. The people living in their little bubbles have no idea how the vast majority of people in this country have been affected by our country having to abide by EU laws and regulations.

My last word on the subject (I hope) is that if you want to insult over 17 million people for their decision which was based on their own life experiences, then maybe you should reconsider how intelligent you really are !!!

I hope we don't go out, one way or another. Referendums are not legally binding and it's a slim majority, with people who voted leave wanting different things son likely to be splintered by the actual deal we get.

I don't think it's about arrogantly disregarding the referendum result; I think the issue is that no one seems willing or able to lead a Brexit. No one knows what it is or what it looks like. Meaningless platitudes about taking back our country have been bandied about but they don't translate into any kind of meaningful action. The leaders of the Leave campaign appear completely bewildered, as though they never actually thought about what leaving the EU would mean or how it would be done. It seems incredibly reckless and foolish to invoke Article 50 when it is a blind leap into the dark. The promises that were made were reneged upon within hours of the result. It's been a display of staggering incompetence and no one wants to take responsibility for seeing this ridiculous farce through. If there wasn't so much at stake, it would be laughable.

and a referendum is?

It has the same legal weight as an opinion poll - a badly informed opinion poll where one side admitted they lied like crazy to get people to vote for them. In my opinion it should be null and void purely on that basis.

Of course and Europe will have the sense to make sure to deal with them we will have to make more concessions. Hurrah!
We have no leader capable of leading a negotiation and Britain looks like the relative europe will be happily going NC with. Bloody hilarious.

I doubt we will leave. It's becoming increasingly clear that no one in power - not Boris, not Nigel Farage, not anyone - ever wanted or expected Leave to win, and that there is no Brexit plan. Our country has been plunged into major political and economic stability already; no one will be in a position to activate Article 50 for at least several months, and once we do that the clock is ticking.

The referendum is advisory only and quite apart from the fact it's common practise to have multiple referendums for situations like this, there are several very good reasons to hold another one. (The extremely narrow margin; the fact so many people have regretted their vote; the exposed lies and backtracking by Leave; the parliamentary crisis, etc. etc.).

Well for YOUR information syl the referendum is and has always been non-binding and advisory!!

So it is highly possible that Brexit won't happen and if it doesn't happen that will be down to a democratic process. IE MP's will have the sense to vote it out.
