To point out that not ALL people who voted leave are racist

I'd describe myself as extreme left. I voted leave because the EU's undemocratic. Today I wake up to ALL of my Facebook posting statuses about how they feel sick etc. all my friends are liberal, some of them would hate me if they knew. But if I was asked outright I'd probably be honest. I've made new friends recently who would definitely never speak to me again if they knew though. I feel like everyone who voted leave has been branded a racist. I feel uncomfortable that probably lots of them are sad I feel very uneasy being lumped in with them and might come to regret my decision

Posted this elsewhere but in need of some hand holding I think! Or maybe someone who feels the same way? Anyone?

I'm sorry but how is Scotland threatening Indy ref 2 undermining the democratic process? We voted overwhelmingly to stay. To prevent us from doing so is undemocratic, so we are now stuck with the choice of being joined to the sinking ship that is the UK, or the EU. Sorry it that's unpalatable to you, but by voting for brexit, you forced this on us.

virtualrach · 27/06/2016 11:57

Lioncash: you're naive if you think ttip won't now happen, having basically paved the way for an even more right wing government than we already had.
(Oh, and your sexuality really isn't relevant.)

Kimononono · 27/06/2016 11:59

I was like asking a 4 year old if they want broccoli or chocolate. My mum always said don't give children the option to choose something that you don't want them to choose. Does Cameron not have children? Did he really think that this could never happen

It's exactly comments like this that I thank fuck we live in a democracy not some terrible fucking country that has a dictatorship that thinks that all its people are children and not allowed to choose how they live. I'm so glad the majority have spoken and we have left - because of people like you.

virtualrach · 27/06/2016 12:03

Hmm given the evidence from google on people's searches after the referendum, do you not think maybe she has a point?! Ha, seriously, democracy is the best option we have but it's highly flawed. Perhaps if voting was compulsory that would help.

MitzyLeFrouf · 27/06/2016 12:05

'I'm so glad the majority have spoken and we have left'

Well we haven't left yet.

Mistigri · 27/06/2016 12:06

We haven't taken leave of anything except our senses.

Sterling has dropped again this morning. Where does it end?

todayitstarts · 27/06/2016 12:06

Kim
We haven't left. And it's looking unlikely that we will

Actually, we voted to elect a parliament that are supposed to make these decisions for us. Had Cameron stopped playing silly games with Nige and Boris, that is what would have happened. As it is, he stupidly allowed an electorate to decide what he'd been elected to do. This is the reason we don't have a referendum on the death sentence. Thank goodness we haven't gone that far.

Hmm

Thanks guys for screwing our economy. I hope you're happy with your little protest/racist/whatever vote:

MitzyLeFrouf · 27/06/2016 12:17

Priti Patel is pro capital punishment. She'd probably welcome a referendum on that subject!

TheElementsSong · 27/06/2016 12:22

Thanks guys for screwing our economy.

Everyone repeat after me:
It's not really happening, it's all just made up and if it isn't, it's Remain's fault. Positive thoughts, positive thoughts, positive thoughts Grin"

freetrampolineforall · 27/06/2016 12:22

While you're busy not being racist, take a read at some of the abuse Mnetters posting on here are getting. Well meaning dynamic liberal cosmopolitan leave voters unleashed a monster and we all have to deal with it.

virtualrach · 27/06/2016 12:27

@theelements - 😂😫

Littletabbyocelot · 27/06/2016 12:40

There's a popular example in NHS circles; if you let all NHS spending be decided by votes, there would never be any bedpans. Sometimes we don't know enough to make the right decision & sometimes we need the people we elect to use the experts they have access to to decide for us.

TheElementsSong · 27/06/2016 12:42

virtualrach I wish you could spam every EURef thread with your link and ask for a response from Leave voters but (as with every concrete discussion) what seems to happen is either ^ or ^.

To say there's a majority, nobody seems available to talk about £80 trillion lost in a morning's trading. There are plenty of people available to talk about how they're being oppressed due to snobbery and ageism (and reality) though.

BerriesandLeaves · 27/06/2016 12:43

That one is much better inyournightdress

virtualrach · 27/06/2016 12:50

TheElementsSong I feel pretty safe in saying that there are going to be a lot more 'links' showing what a disaster this has been over the forthcoming days and months. But apparently we should stop moaning and being bad losers (*sorry, but when my future and, more importantly, my son's future (not to mention many others who are in far worse positions to us) have been thrown into jeopardy, I think I get to be angry) and all come together now. No. Leave voters created this mess. They cannot expect us to give them cuddles now and say it's all ok!

RhiWrites · 27/06/2016 12:51

Here's a link for the "I'm not racist, I have black friends" crowd.

merrymouse · 27/06/2016 13:18

I'm so glad the majority have spoken and we have left

But it's really not clear what they were being offered, or whether the leaders of the Leave campaign actually cared what they were saying.

papayasareyum · 27/06/2016 13:19

Well, according to media sources today, Jeremy Corbyn voted for Brexit. Maybe he's a filthy racist too? Confused

emilybohemia · 27/06/2016 13:22

You have given a platform to racists. You have a pursued a goal that racists also pursued and that you must have known would empower them. I don't get it.

Dawndonnaagain · 27/06/2016 13:33

According to people trying to stab Corbyn in the back
Not really an argument is it.

papayasareyum · 27/06/2016 13:35

Jeremy Corby is, by his own admission, a eurosceptic. He admitted voting against joining the EU back in the 70's

Dawndonnaagain · 27/06/2016 13:37

Unless Corbyn actually states that he voted out, you do not have a valid argument.
As someone who has just been asked (within the last hour) if I'm a 'light skinned Paki' the Out lot can fuck right off. I've had it all weekend and all anybody who voted out has done is legitimise this sort of abuse.

papayasareyum · 27/06/2016 13:56

Well, it would be a bit odd if an extremely eurosceptic politician suddenly turned europhile for the sake of a referendum!

And blaming brexiteers for racism is like blaming Muslims for the actions of a few idiot terrorists.
