A survey conducted across all Turkish regions says that 16% (12 million) of the population say they want to come to the UK when the nation joins the EU. With membership talks set to start again in June should the UK be worried & will this influence your vote in the EU referendum

TTip has nothing to do with the Elites, does it?

Say hello to Uni for me.

RedToothBrush · 24/05/2016 14:43

Oh, sorry

I'm quite happy to engage with other people though.

It'd like to engage some OTHER debate and some OTHER view points for once on the subject of the EU instead.

Elite nonsense is putting off too many people who would like to talk about the EU.

Have a conversation without using the word Elite, and you might persuade a few people to your point of view rather than make them run for the hills.

MrSnow · 24/05/2016 14:47

You're the one shutting down the debate. Not me.

The are hundreds of threads about the EU on MN, plenty of chat in them about the corporate and banking elites.

Do you refuse to talk about it because you're ever so slightly dim? Or just arrogant?

RedToothBrush · 24/05/2016 14:59

Arrogant. Obviously.

And fed up of the domination on MN over the EU by a few.

Nothing I can do mind. Except call out my frustration and refuse to engage further on that particular line of debate.

Elite stuff is fine. Not got a problem with it. Provided its to a point.

But on the EU on MN, its every conversation to the exclusion of all other arguments.

Its not helpful and doesn't win anyone to your cause either. It is just alienating lots and lots of people.

Its a real shame and a missed opportunity.

As I say, make the same arguments without invoking 'The Elites' every five seconds and you might have a bigger audience....

But carry on, as you were.

RedToothBrush · 24/05/2016 15:08

Anyway, you win. I concede defeat.

I'll leave you to talk to those who are interested.

My point remains for the other perpetually pissed off MNetters who feel the same as me.

MrSnow · 24/05/2016 15:15

Debating includes talking about things that you sometimes don't like to talk about.

I don't know you on MN, I've never spoken to you on MN, I don't recognise you on any EU threads on MN yet you threw a wobbly when I mentioned the corporate and financial elites, as if they weren't relevant to any EU discussion.

Good day to you.

Chillyegg · 24/05/2016 16:35

Mr snow it really isn't an over reaction and like an other pp says I won't engage with you because quite frankly your a goody fucker.

MrSnow · 24/05/2016 16:40

Of course it's an over reaction, you couldn't even read the rest of the post and put it to context before going into full victim mode and came out snarling with your "white privilege" nonsense.

Please don't engage with me, however, when I see you acting foolish again and invoking victim status I will certainly engage with you.

BreakingDad77 · 24/05/2016 16:41

Elites is a zero sum - they will be in power regardless, unless some altruistic business person suddenly come out of knowhere and starts a new party not much will ever change in the UK.

So we have a choice of stay in Europe where people have a more enlightened view of work/life born out by all that 'terrible' red tape like sick pay, workers rights, TUPE etc or we have leave where they would curtail these 'burdens' overnight.

MrSnow · 24/05/2016 16:43

or we have leave where they would curtail these 'burdens' overnight

You have zero proof to back that statement up, BD. Zero.

PigletJohn · 24/05/2016 16:54

just to check, do you think it is not true that the Outist campaigners boast that they would cut "Red Tape?"

What is the Red Tape that they would cut?

BreakingDad77 · 25/05/2016 10:09

*or we have leave where they would curtail these 'burdens' overnight

here here PigletJohn - come on Brexiters what redtape EXACTLY are you goign to cut.

In the past and now they use the language that getting an exception out of the Working Time Directive was a 'success', so yes that pretty much is a done deal that they would revisit all of this.

It will be a race to the bottom in terms of employment conditions.

We've just taken benefits off disabled people while giving earners a tax break what language does that speak?

Ill be looking online and they will be saying "You know because its austerity/defecit and we have to have more flexible conditions to make us competitive on the global stage."
