Has anyone used the Boots recycling scheme?

If so can I recycle tablet packets? The white plastic ones with foil on the back that the tablet is pushed through?

I can’t find them on the list but am sure they were on the poster that I saw in store.

I don’t visit a branch often so don’t want to start collecting them if they’re not part of the scheme.

Urgh, tried to use one of each voucher today in my local store.

Had anyone else had the issue where you've looked carefully at the shelf for any special Advantage card prices, offers etc, added up to the right amount to qualify, you scan things through, scan the advantage card, still says £10 total to pay, then when you scan the voucher for the extra points, magically the total is now £9.90, nyah nyah, your transaction doesn't qualify. I scanned the chocolate bar which I had picked up in case this happened, but the till didn't like that.

And of course, I was on a self-checkout till, it was lunchtime so there were about 8 people in the queue, 3 out of 4 of the tills (including mine) required 'attention' and there wasn't a staff member in sight.

When a bloke eventually did appear, he reset the tills and then fucked off again. Just in time for the till to do the same thing on my second transaction (to use the £5 spend voucher).

I have to admit, I walked out at that point. I have so many blister packs that one voucher is neither here nor there as I don't buy that much stuff in Boots.

Yes, that has happened to me twice, but a chocolate bar has sorted it each time (our branch is small and quiet and they are in easy reach). Just adds to the complication though. Going to try again with both on Saturday.

I have just had an oestrogel pump rejected 🙄

I've tried oestrogel twice but it says it's a medical product. I've got plenty of other empties so will go back to putting it in the recycling bin.

We aren't allowed to put any plastic except bottles in our normal recycling. Annoying as I'm back down to 4 on beauty again now.

Poor effort by the council on that.

AnyOldNonsense · 27/03/2026 07:46

Yes, they are very poor. We still don't have food waste collections either and won't for a few more months.

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 27/03/2026 08:02

I didn’t think you could use both vouchers on the same day. Am I wrong?
I do end up buying a lot in Boots due to recycling. I checked in Home bargains though and a lot of things are much cheaper which is annoying. I tend to wait until things are on offer in Boots and buy then.
I was hoping to buy some Elnette hairspray but it’s gone back up in price 😡. Much cheaper in Home Bargains so I’ll wait until Boots put it back on offer again.

StripedPillowcase · 27/03/2026 08:33

You can use one of each type of voucher on the same day, but it has to be separate transactions, 1x £10 and 1x £5

No it doesn’t , i always use mine on same transaction of £10 , and I used a manned till , just tell them I have 2 vouchers

Ohcrap082024 · 27/03/2026 13:01

This may well have been mentioned before but I have just discovered that my resealable packets of Elavate collagen powder and FreeSoul magnesium packets are accepted.

They did sit in my Pending section for a good few days as the brands were not in the list. I submitted them as Unlisted/Not Listed and they have gone through.

Will try our resealable protein packet when it’s empty.

That’s worth knowing.
so you can get 600 points just from spending £10.
I’ve been doing them all separately.

Yes , can only do the blister packs 4 times a month though ( beauty is 8 times ) but I make sure I do 4 transactions of as close to £10 as possible 🤣

Jamfirstest · 29/03/2026 11:28

@bugalugs45great advice thank you

CaptainSevenofNine · 16/05/2026 17:22

Thanks to this thread I’ve now received £32.00 worth of points!

Lordamighty · 20/05/2026 08:21

I’ve just downloaded the app after seeing the recycling bins in my local Boots. The blister packs seem pretty straightforward but the beauty stuff isn’t. I hoped I could recycle the pumps that come with a lot of hand washes but I’m not sure how to do it, I’m not even sure they are accepted. Has anyone else tried?

AnyOldNonsense · 20/05/2026 09:12

No, sorry, we use refillable handsoap.

I'm up to 25 points now but I have bags of blister packs and empty beauty products waiting to go and literally can't think of anything I need to buy in Boots now, my bathroom, medicine box and dressing table are very fully stocked. Last time I went in I walked round and round for 10 minutes and ended up leaving again.

Yes you can , hand wash bottle with pump are accepted , I get through loads of these. You have to do both the bottle & pump though, I’ve posted a picture , waiting for approval

StrawberryJamAndRaspberryPie · 20/05/2026 10:55

I tried to but every boots I went to didn’t have the bins

OliviaBonas · 28/01/2026 12:27

A Boots store I visit semi-regularly has one. I just dump the blister packs in there too in the hope they get recycled and don’t worry about any sort of reward!

Same. I asked the assistant on the pharmacy counter and she said it was fine.

If you've logged them on the app, you can dump them all in the bins to save storing them at home. Then next time you need to buy something, 'deposit' 5 beauty things on the app and get a 500 points voucher, and 5 blister packs and get a 100 points voucher, and you can use both on a purchase over £10. Or just the blister packs for a purchase over £5. It doesn't matter that you put the actual items in the bins perhaps weeks ago.

AnyOldNonsense · 20/05/2026 22:54

I suppose so, but the sole staff member in our branch does tend to stand and watch while you are doing it. I guess I could just load one of each voucher into the wallet and use them later. I wish this had been around when my Dc's were young and I was buying more stuff in there.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 21/05/2026 06:13

With the hand soap pumps, there’s always the option of buying refill pouches - the scheme takes the pouches too!

ProfessorBinturong · 21/05/2026 09:24

The vouchers are only valid on the day you get them.

AnyOldNonsense · 21/05/2026 10:09

Ah ok, my initial enthusiasm for this scheme has started to wane a bit! Fine if you are buying from Boots on a very regular basis but I don't really.

I agree. I do buy simple facial wash and interdental brushes though so I think I’ll buy multiples of those!
