My large friend couldn’t fit in my new shower.

I had a small group of friends come to stay for the weekend. One of them is massively overweight ( by her own admission ) and therefore I gave her the guest room with the brand new Ensuite so she could have privacy and not have to wander along the landing to the main bathroom. As they have now all left I went in to change the bed and clean the bathroom and have realised she didn’t have a shower all weekend. No towels moved, no wet shower tray, no damp towel.
I’ve just clicked that our new shower has a sliding door that simply doesn’t leave a big enough gap for her to get in. I am mortified. She must have been so upset. But it’s too late for me to replace the cubicle as would be too expensive.
Surely shower manufacturers should make openings big enough for larger people as standard now ?

I’m fat and I wld of either said something along the lines gees fancy spending all that money on a shower I don’t fit in…. 😂😂
or said nothing and just popped down the landing and had a shower.

I also always bring my own towels as don’t like to leave extra washing when staying at peoples houses.

so she may have showered with her own towel in the main bathroom and you just didn’t notice she has popped into the other bathroom?

I have a very large friend. She recently had a wake-up call and has gone to terrific effort to lose weight. She is still very big but is much happier now she has lost over 3 stone, and very much encouraged by that to keep going. She would like to lose a lot more and her partner has joined her in the quest to lose weight.
Sadly, there seems too much "big is beautiful " propaganda nowadays, which my friend now feels she was "brainwashed" by. She has decided that her health must come first.
Maybe this will be your friend's wake-up call and next time she stays, she will be able to enjoy your hospitality, including the lovely new shower.

@VeraMay yes because most fat people don’t realise they are fat until they come across an unusually small shower 🙈

This thread is a bit ..... odd

Exactly. If she was a clean person she could have found a way to wash. I would guess it had nothing to do with the shower door that you’re feeling guilty about.
don’t change your bathroom. If it was a problem she won’t stay again.
