What was your school motto?

Following on from a thread about latin phrases, I thought about how schools describe their values...

My school motto was Fortiter Vivamus - we live bravely.

What was yours?

Can't remember motto but had to write AMDG on every page of our books.

"God Give the Increase"

Levavi Oculos or Aim higher though oddly one doesnt translate as the other.

Timor Domini Principium Sapientii - the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

I learnt that for a school quiz when I was in the Second year, and have never forgotten it - which is strange as I appear to have forgotten almost everything else I learned there!

School was 'Thy children shall be taught of the Lord'.

Motto of current institution is: 'Et augebitur scientia'

Thanks butterfly. Knew it was the greater glory of god thing, just wasn't sure whether that was the actual school motto though

Laborare est Orare (work is worship) at the Grammar school I moved to.

chipmonkey - school i went to for 6th form had the same motto ....although ours was in a different order - which apparently you can do with latin - Veritas Liberabit Vos

I think mine was...

"Don't share needles"

or

"Don't get caught"

Oh, and at my RC Comp all the books were stamped with AMDG - 'Ad Majorem Dei Gloria', or to the greater glory of God, I think.

"Cymdiethas" was our motto, which is the welsh word for society.
