Hello everyone,

I just thought I'd start a thread for everyone whose kids have applied to the Brit school for sixth form entry in 2024. Hope you are all doing well.

Just wondering whether anyone has heard about the January auditions yet? DD is applying for the music strand and getting anxious.

Thanks so much and best of luck to all!

Thank you that’s really helpful

Congratulations to all the kids that got accepted 🤩
my daughter is on the reserve list for Theatre is anyone else been reserved or got a place. I know it’s impossible to tell but just want a little bit of hope that she gets a place 😊

Hi @Roman4864 . DS was on the reserve list for MT last year. We got a call offering a place at about 8am on GCSE results day (which we declined in favour of a different college - Bodens in Islington). A friend he met at the workshop day didn’t get an offer or reserve list but got a call offering a place before term started in September. Don’t give up hope! Has DD got any offers elsewhere? Bodens is definitely worth a look. They only offer Acting or MT and it’s much smaller than Brit. DS loves it there.

Ahh thank you so much @truelove for your message and positive feedback, I really appreciate it x.
My daughter had a workshop for Bodens and is about to send in her Monologues, she really liked the day there, the only problem is we are in Bromley area so travel might be tricky to start with. She also had an audition day at London School of Performing arts coming up 🤞🏽
Her heart is still set on The Brits, so hopefully she hears some good news there.
Thank you again for your feedback and glad your son is loving Bodens - I thought Katie there was brilliant and everyone is so supportive, hopefully she gets offered a place too 🙏🏽x

We’re also in Bromley! The journey is relatively straightforward - train into either Victoria or London Bridge then tube to either Kings Cross (20 minute walk from there) or Caledonian Rd (5 minute walk). He got an offer on the day from LCPA but it wasn’t for him (others love it but it wasn’t the right fit for him). Good luck to your DD and hopefully she’ll have choices x

Thank you xx 🤞🏽

Isn’t Borden’s a private school which you have to pay for? That said, I know a very talented young person who is in my son’s local London theatre group who got a scholarship there as the parents wouldn’t have been able to afford the fees.

truelove · 22/04/2024 08:26

@FitnessDjango no, Bodens College in Islington is fully funded. They offer a 2 year Level 3 diploma (acting or MT) and a one year Foundation course for post sixth form/pre-uni/drama school. No fees for either. Not sure if Bordens is a different college?

catbooklover · 02/05/2024 12:36

Did we all receive confirmation of our offers today? My DD has chosen an AS level to do alongside.

SadeRose · 02/05/2024 15:50

@catbooklover yes I did, completed the form and submitted it.

It’s been a long few weeks! Not long now!!

Hello! My daughter got into Brit music strand. She’s currently looking for accommodation. She’s living in Croydon but has to move out as cousin is having a baby. She’s currently going to ACM in Guildford. Any ideas anyone? Thanks!

What year is she? Did she not like ACM? I'm also considering host family for my DD.

aligaudion · 14/05/2024 07:05

She always wanted Brit. ACM is not as good. She will start year 12 again which is fine. Do you have the list of host families please?

Evening, has anyone seen the post regarding funding for Brit school? Feeling a little concerned as we had a local school shut due to funding issues. How is everyone else feeling? Probably nothing to worry about, only sensitive to what happened to the other school.

Do you mean the Facebook post? They always did ask for donations from parents even when my eldest son was there

IamSallyBowles · 22/05/2024 08:19

ha yeah - they're always asking for money (but no pressure to donate - not one of those schools that almost makes it seem compulsory).

thye have to make up a shortfall of about £2000 for each pupil - but that is also why they have sponsorship etc - they're not about to close, dont worry.

CakeyAL · 22/05/2024 21:58

Hi all, thank you, I was just in panic mode! It’s all ok! I will def get involved with fundraising come the autumn. X

Roman4864 · 22/08/2024 10:49

I hope all the kids got the GCSEs results they were hoping for x

All good here. Looking at ISAMS app this morning and timetable looks odd, suggesting they should be out today. Freaked out for a moment there 😂

drummermumma · 28/08/2024 09:25

I meant in not out!

catbooklover · 28/08/2024 13:54

Good luck to all the kids starting tomorrow! Heres to a successful two years!!

FitnessDjango · 28/08/2024 21:56

Night before and my son wonders what the musical theatre lot should be wearing tomorrow…I have no clue!

Orquid · 16/09/2024 13:47

Apologies for reactivating this thread. We are considering the Brit school for DD, not sure whether for year 10 or 12.

How are your kids getting on? The ones that got in and the ones that didn’t?

is it very competitive? Can they just apply for one strand? Or can they have a backup?
