Hello everyone,

I just thought I'd start a thread for everyone whose kids have applied to the Brit school for sixth form entry in 2024. Hope you are all doing well.

Just wondering whether anyone has heard about the January auditions yet? DD is applying for the music strand and getting anxious.

Thanks so much and best of luck to all!

We have the email too, daughter in for MT! We feel so privileged as so very few places, especially as out of catchment!

Well done to everyone else’s children who found out today. Strange to think our kids will be classmates come September!

FitnessDjango · 20/02/2024 11:18

My son just heard he was accepted for sixth form for the musical theatre strand 2024. Yay! We are from London, so catchment area. Think today must be the day that external students are hearing.

drummermumma · 20/02/2024 11:58

Congratulations everyone. Such great news!

CakeyAL · 20/02/2024 12:08

Hi, can I check when your child auditioned for MT? My daughter out of catchment auditioned last week so I have a feeling I will have a long wait ahead of me!

chopc · 20/02/2024 12:13

I started another thread but asking here as no responses. I hope you don't mind. If you take the fee paying status out, which would you choose between ArtsEd and Brit - based on the quality of experience and opportunities? Thanks in advance

@CakeyAL 19th December

Hi my daughter had her music tech audition on 4/1/24 - a long wait but she heard last week and was offered a place.

CakeyAL · 26/02/2024 13:55

Eeek! My daughter got into Dance stream, out of catchment. Super Excited!

SadeRose · 26/02/2024 17:03

@CakeyAL well done excellent news!

Aumkha · 26/02/2024 18:16

@CakeyAL congratulations, my daughter's friend is still waiting for the result for dance strand. 🤞🤞

Nooodles19 · 26/02/2024 18:28

Congratulations to everyone who got in!

My daughter is on the reserve list for MT, so a bit more waiting for us, but keeping everything crossed!

AliceW20 · 26/02/2024 19:43

@CakeyAL congratulations! Where will your daughter be traveling from?

@Nooodles19 we have fingers crossed for you! Hopefully the wait is not too long . X

My eldest went to Brit (youngest just got in). Both successful for Musical theatre (eldest year 10, youngest year 12 starting Sep 2024). I’d pick Brit school as it’s more for talent between 14-18 as opposed to parents being able to afford it and they mix with all which I want being a parent of London children. Find the private schools very twee white middle class

@chopc I agree with @FitnessDjango and think that Brit School is more meaningful in the industry. It's extremely competitive to get in and all about talent, not money, which also takes away any stage school 'type' reservations. Don't get me wrong, ArtsEd is good and if you live closer to that then there's an argument for going there so day to day life is less stressful. But as someone who casts actors, I'd tend to be more interested in a Brit School actor for that age. They can always go on to ArtsEd at 18 if that was still a relevant option.

I think certainly it has its name, however Reigate College do exactly the same course and you can also do another A level which you can't at The Brits. Mine chose Reigate over The Brits.

Heard that my daughter got a place for Dance yesterday! Filled in all the application pack and acceptance forms but haven’t got any email back from them…. Is that other people’s experience? Am I just too keen?

I've not had a response either. I'm thinking of calling to just check all received.

I tried to call and it went straight to voicemail twice, they must be inundated!

Squeeze139 · 28/02/2024 06:57

We were sent another email after she was offered a place that started ‘unfortunately’!!! And for a minute she thought they retracted the offer. They had just sent the wrong link. All filled in now but haven’t heard back with a confirmation email. I might contact them because when she went for her music workshop audition they told her at interview they hadn’t received her letter from her current school and it took two weeks to sort out between the schools. Well done to all those kids that applied whatever the result I think it shows a real commitment on their part

Oh absolutely - every student has to choose the path that feels right for them and what will give them the best shot at what they want to achieve, which may be about a wider spread of options and life experience. I just meant in terms of CV/the answer to 'where you trained', ime the Brit School would be the more compelling choice for casting. Obviously you'd then still have to deliver the goods, but it could be more likely to get you in the mix for opportunities.

JoannaDW · 28/02/2024 18:32

Well done to all your young people. My son interview/workshopped for production arts last Tuesday and heard on the Friday that he had a place. So thrilled, especially as we had a tough secondary transition where we lost our appeal for a preferred school.
