Brit School Sixth Form 2024

Hello everyone,

I just thought I'd start a thread for everyone whose kids have applied to the Brit school for sixth form entry in 2024. Hope you are all doing well.

Just wondering whether anyone has heard about the January auditions yet? DD is applying for the music strand and getting anxious.

Thanks so much and best of luck to all!

I meant Music Tech, realised that MT usually stands for musical theatre!

DrRhapsody · 02/02/2024 17:49

My daughters first audition was 7 weeks ago today - it’s a gruelling wait for sure!

To those who have applied for Musical Theatre - is there a second stage audition? I know in the past there have been but my dd wasn’t sure of the process this year.

Thx and best of luck to all!

Nooodles19 · 02/02/2024 17:59

Ah same - my daughter did hers on 15th December too! She seems quite relaxed to wait (as she thought she messed up on her singing a bit anyway) and we were fine for a few weeks but getting impatient now 🤣

My understanding was that it was all-in-one this year so I don’t think there is another stage - unless they are struggling to decide I guess?

Good Luck to all 🍀

Catgotyourbrain · 02/02/2024 21:50

My DS has his audition day for theatre (not musical theatre) on 19th Feb

SadeRose · 02/02/2024 22:11

My daughter had her audition on the 19th December(musical theatre)honestly the wait is annoying, I’m told it’s just one stage and I called the school and they’ve said they are running behind and should hear in another 2/3 weeks. That was last week so another 2 weeks to go!

tenapengen · 03/02/2024 15:06

This wait is agonising. My Son had audition for Music Strand on 4th Jan and was told he should hear in 4 weeks. Doesn’t look like that will be happening then ☹️

We were told 6 weeks at my daughters music strand audition on 8th Jan 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nooodles19 · 03/02/2024 19:44

Oh no! 2 more
weeks?! 😩 It’s been way too long already!!! Thank you for phoning - I have been contemplating doing that too!

SadeRose · 07/02/2024 14:24

Just called the school again (impatient much) the lady asked what strand, I said Musical Theatre and she mentioned decisions would go out end of February, beginning of March 😳an email communicating this would have been nice. Different to what the school website states and not the same advice given to me over the phone a couple of weeks ago #rantover

DrRhapsody · 07/02/2024 15:16

Thanks for the update! Yes, the prospectus states 4 weeks but we allowed for 6 and now it’s looking closer to 11!

tenapengen · 07/02/2024 16:44

Omg this is shocking. We have also applied to Elam, at least they keep you informed as to when they will have a decision. I wonder if this time frame applies to Music strand also, I just tried calling but can’t get through 🙄

Hi All,

Mine has had an offer from Reigate for Musical Theatre and they want to know of we accept by March so we will wait and see another few weeks for her Brits result.

My daughter has had an offer from Reigate too (subject to achieving 5 passes or whatever it is)

Now thinking maybe we shouldn’t have but we just accepted it and will let them know she no longer needs the place if she gets in to the Brit 👍🏻

We will accept too, however mine can also do a level art at reigate, but not at the brits. So that may be a game changer in what she chooses.

drummermumma · 15/02/2024 16:40

Aaargh getting impatient now 😩

tenapengen · 15/02/2024 19:31

Not to stir the pot but when I called last week they said we should hear this week for Music strand. 🤞 sending you all big hugs… this is tough 🤦🏽‍♀️

Fraidycat2023 · 15/02/2024 23:02

totally, best of luck all round, wouldn't it just be a dream if they all got in and made friends and never knew about their mums fretting?

Congratulations, my daughter applied for that and her workshop is in Apr. Which strand your son applied for?

sure is - the email will come through to them wont it, rather than us? We'll just be notified that they have been given a decision...?

drummermumma · 16/02/2024 11:58

I heard an offer goes to child but a rejection goes to parent. Not sure how true that is though.

foxbasesecular43 · 16/02/2024 15:07

Has anyone heard re music strand yet?
