Is anyone else here from Kent and their child sitting the Kent test this September? thought it might be good to have a support thread going. If there already is one could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Thanks @username4826490

If DC passes then I will be telling them to be proud but graceful about it and of course if one of their friends asks then tell them the truth but be mindful that some of them may not have passed and might be upset so don't go round talking about it. Just put yourself in their position. They can gloat all they want at home!

I will be telling Dc the score but will tell them not to share it (I don't think they would anyway) I don't see that it has any effect on anyone else whatsoever, other than to compare against their child and see who was better (not talking about sharing anonymously here, but among those you know)

I won't be telling the score even if a super selective then I will just say that "hey, you made it".

username4826490 · 17/10/2023 14:59

I think I will share the scores with my DC. They were told all the marks for their mocks, they worked hard for it, and I personally feel they (as I my child, not necessarily all children) deserve to know, if they ask.

But I respect those who won't be sharing the scores and like Op I will remind DC to be respectful of others too.

Hope everyone gets what they are hoping for.

c1403 · 17/10/2023 16:19

I did share passmark of DD Medway test but we are quite a close year group...although some results did surprise me.

I am sure I'll be asked again tomorrow as the Kent is our back up .

11plusdrama · 17/10/2023 16:28

On results I am getting jittery. I know some people sitting in different areas and know only 1 person who has reached the standard, so lots of near misses, including people who were pretty sure their child would get into round 2 of some super selectives..

11plusdrama · 17/10/2023 16:28

So I know one person whose child passed Medway but not many people at my child's school set for Medway.

Ompompom · 17/10/2023 21:08

I'll be telling my son his score, but mainly because I've told him we're only putting him into grammar if its a clear good pass. I worry that because of his adhd he has good days and bad days, if 11+ was a really good day then he'll be held up to that standard his whole school career, if that makes sense. I don't want him to struggle 80% because he soars 20% of the time. I know what that's like, constantly being told they wish my work was this good everyday.

So back to the point, it needs to be a good pass or he'll be going to St Simon Stock where he is guaranteed a place.

TicTac80 · 18/10/2023 06:13

Good luck to all today!

Panicmode1 · 18/10/2023 07:32

Thinking of everyone today. Good luck and may the day go quickly!

(It is awful that such young children have to go through this, but having been through it four times and seen the highs and lows, this test does NOT define your young people and some who fly through don't then shine - and some that missed out flourish better in other settings....it feels like the be all and end all today, but it really isn't....)

Fingers and everything crossed for everyone!

Upwardtrajectory · 18/10/2023 08:12

Good luck everyone!

Regardless of the outcome, I’m looking forward to being able to fill in the application form so it’s done and dusted.

Lulu1976 · 18/10/2023 08:29

Good luck today everyone, I absolutely agree it doesn't define them, this is my 4th ( and thankfully last ) time going through this. Although my others did pass, their friends who didn't got equally good GCSE , A level results ! We have good schools in Kent selective and non selective. I hope all of you get to fill out the form with the schools you want 🤞

Panicmode1 · 18/10/2023 08:31

@Lulu1976 Enjoy knowing it's the last time through and good luck for the results. We had a HUGE bonfire of 11+ prep stuff once our four had all been through it!!

WatieKatie · 18/10/2023 08:42

Good luck today everyone. The waiting is almost over 🤞

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 18/10/2023 08:47

Good luck everyone! At least we know that the emails won't be sent until after 4pm today. Can someone post a link to the page where we can log in to see the results (once they are released?) I've tried to search for it, but I can't find it!

WatieKatie · 18/10/2023 09:02

I can’t find it either @BlackLambAndGreyFalcon and I don’t remember registering for access to anything other than the school selection website.

Don't they say after 4pm every year yet some receive theirs sooner? It's our first time so others may be able to help on that front! But here is the link - you'll need to log inSmile

Brilliant! Thanks @username4826490! I've been able to log in so should be able to view the results if I don't receive the email.

Panicmode1 · 18/10/2023 09:20
