Is anyone else here from Kent and their child sitting the Kent test this September? thought it might be good to have a support thread going. If there already is one could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Does anyone know when the schools find out the results?

I don't think it's the same everywhere. I was told that the Kent test results go to school a few days earlier than to parents. I think Bexley is day before or same day but not sure.

WorldofKnitting · 08/09/2023 10:33

I had an impression it would be at least a couple of weeks before the official results day - If they only have a few days surely there may not be enough time for the appeals process etc?

MoggyMittens23 · 08/09/2023 10:53

In Kent we are getting the results on October 18th. The HTA will go through before that (unbeknown to parents), you cannot appeal then. Parents appeals happen in March. (this is as far as I am aware, perhaps someone can correct me if I am wrong)

Yes sorry I meant the appeals process by the headteacher before the results were out to the public.

😁missed your second message! It's been a long week... hope parents are doing ok 👍

historyrepeatz · 08/09/2023 11:45

If you are in Kent when is your deadline for applying to schools?

CautiousOptimist · 08/09/2023 11:46

31st October

historyrepeatz · 08/09/2023 11:50

Thanks. I'm in Bexley and was wondering if it was the same.

CautiousOptimist · 08/09/2023 11:50

OMG, hasn't it been a long week?! My littlest one started Reception this week too, I honestly feel like I'm in recovery!

I was just thinking: obviously I hope my son has passed his 11+, but if he hasn't then... he hasn't. He did his best, we gave it our best shot, it's done, and there were no disasters as far as I know (missing out a page of questions etc). Now, if he doesn't pass, then he's just not at that level and therefore he would prob be miserable being pushed at grammar anyway. And will do well at a state school, he's got a good attitude to learning.

I feel so liberated! Grin

historyrepeatz · 08/09/2023 11:55

I will be so glad once the test is over, we haven't done any work for a few weeks but it's always there isn't it! I'm glad the test is over but not looking forward to making the school choice, I really have no idea! Will be glad of the results and being able to narrow that down one way or the other.

sophiehassan · 10/09/2023 17:26

i think it comes to the headteacher within 2 weeks or so.

Thanks, that is quicker than I had imagined, but that means HT get a month to work on the appeals process which should give them plenty of time.

MoggyMittens23 · 10/09/2023 22:00

What I don't understand is, they have to submit the child's work as proof. But mine got all their last year's work sent home! So what work will they show?

OP posts:
enigmaticc · 10/09/2023 22:02

Almost all the kids are saying they found non verbal section tricky and were short of time as well.Fingers crossed.I wish I could get the result straight away

enigmaticc · 10/09/2023 22:46

Yes same here in my DD had all her year 5 work sent back before summer holidays.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 10/09/2023 22:51

My DD also thought it was a lot easier than she had expected. I wonder what that means for the passmark this year, and if Bexley (she's sitting that on Tuesday) will likewise feel easier. She was quite suprised that some topics didn't come up at all on the maths paper.

historyrepeatz · 11/09/2023 06:21

None of our work was sent home and we were told this was in case of an appeal. The HT told us last year that she had one appeal and as soon as she could she drove over with the child's books.

MoggyMittens23 · 11/09/2023 07:05

I'm now wondering whether I should get all the books out of the recycling 😂

OP posts:
WorldofKnitting · 11/09/2023 09:08

Mine also came home with all Y5 books🤷

MoggyMittens23 · 11/09/2023 10:36

@WorldofKnitting what do you think happens then, how do they show the body of work? I might have to ask the head later

OP posts:
MoggyMittens23 · 11/09/2023 16:21

apparently they shouldn't have been sent home . I managed to dig 7 out of the recycling but the rest have gone lol

enigmaticc · 11/09/2023 20:59

Such a nice head teacher you guys have.I have heard not all head teachers make an effort.
