Epsom College tragedy

I was horrified to read the story about the headteacher and family dying this morning, this poor family and I can't stop thinking about how the children at school must feel learning about this tragedy. I am sure the staff there are being brilliant at supporting them. I remember hearing that my old headteacher had died after I left school and even then being really shocked and upset.

@dogdaydown am not silencing anything. Am saying you pull up a rare example. But you know that right? You know the stats. Or I hope you do.

It's relevant, it happened today.

I'm not saying the man in this scenario is innocent, I don't know, you don't know.

Assuming he did commit the murders, you don't know why, I don't know why.

You're speculating, I've produced a fact that happened today,

What are they afraid of? What should the girls not be reading?

Made up shit.

I mean, they aren't afraid of anything - what a bizarre thing to say. They are giving the girls good advice about thinking about what they say and thinking about the source of what they might read and they are giving pastoral care to help them through the awful news.

DD and her peers were told at school today to be conscious of their digital presence and be careful what sources they trust when discussing/looking at the death of their ex head.

Advice a lot of posters here might do well to heed.

Sure they did. Maybe you shouldn’t be on this thread then? Digital presence and that right?

SoupDragon · 06/02/2023 18:56

Ndd135632 · 06/02/2023 18:03

How patronising. I hope the girls have a little more insight into the real world.

don't be ridiculous.

the advice to think about what you say online and too think about the source and reliability of what you read online is good advice for everyone. including you

Are you calling me a liar?

Did you receive a different email from the head of pastoral care then? Did your daughter at the school tell you different?

illtakeit · 06/02/2023 18:58

SoupDragon · 06/02/2023 18:51

Made up shit.

nobody is making up any far fetched theories here. If any, MN have deleted them. Some of you have your head so far up your own arse it’s ridiculous. Are people living real life or y’all only act like this on anon blogs?

SoupDragon · 06/02/2023 18:59

My digital presence is fine. I've not posted any made up shit nor speculation.

No said they were far fetched theories. The point is that they are not proven fact at the moment.

I mean, someone on this thread has not only stated what happened but also exactly why and what was the state of mind at the time. Made up shit that shouldn't be repeated as fact.

🙄 patronise patronise. I and your daughter for that matter can believe what we wish to believe thank you without you policing it. Superior or what !

For all we know the household has its own firearms licence. If there were lapses in security re the School’s firearms then that’s obviously a very serious matter, but I doubt this very much!

I agree with this. We should not assume that someone got hold of one of the school's rifles.

picklemewalnuts · 06/02/2023 19:43

Can you please remember you are talking to people who are actually connected?

The kids at the school have been given advice to protect themselves from the speculation and gossip online.

Which sounds very sensible.

Ndd135632 · 06/02/2023 19:49

@Shampern nope we shouldn’t. Except the firearms building was next door and has been shut off for investigation...

For gods sake, you can have your moment of "glory" when and if your theory is founded. Until then why not have a dignified silence?

What is actually wrong with you?

Ndd135632 · 06/02/2023 20:02

@dogdaydown you think it’s glory?

Ndd135632 · 06/02/2023 20:04

@dogdaydown it’s tired resignation dog day. Not glory. It comes with experience and stats.

dogdaydown · 06/02/2023 20:04

Ndd135632 · 06/02/2023 20:02

You've ignored every bit of advice, you've ignored facts and all you want is that you're 100% right and then you can have your glory, with I told you so.

You're so massively disrespectful to the people that have died is untrue.

And sometimes they're wrong....

Ndd135632 · 06/02/2023 20:05

@dogdaydown glory ? What the hell is wrong with you ? No I don’t want to be right. I really don’t.

Ndd135632 · 06/02/2023 20:06

dogdaydown · 06/02/2023 20:05

Yep let’s hope so. Let’s hope. There is no glory in what has just happened.

Xenia · 06/02/2023 20:07

In this type of family annihilation and given a gun is in play I suspect the father did it but I am sure things like blood splatter patterns will make all that clear from the scene and we will find what did happen in due course. It does not sound like they think an intruder did it so presumably have some evidence for that.

It is so sad when this happens? Why can't people planning this just do themselves in and leave the family out of it?

Notaflippinclue · 06/02/2023 20:15

The school shooting range is behind their home according to the news earlier

goodbyestranger · 06/02/2023 20:21

Absolutely second Xenia.

I am struggling to understand which ‘facts’
I have ignored @dogdaydown. Which facts exactly have I ignored? There is no glory in all this. There is anger, inevitability, resignation. You can be as ‘kind’ as you like. I am over ‘kindness’. And yes I know the school. The firearms building is indeed next to their home.

realsavagelike · 06/02/2023 20:26

@MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake , totally. I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said. We never hear about "poor woman, she must have snapped" in cases where women murder their children. Just more evidence that there was something terribly wrong with her.
