Hello fellow parents, Just wanted to start a thread on RGS Guildford, which our children will be sitting on 11th January 2020. Not long now.

OP posts:
LearningJourney · 14/02/2020 11:11

Amazing! Well done!

LearningJourney · 14/02/2020 11:13

@AtiBati - did it come in a big envelope with RGS on it?

goobledygok · 14/02/2020 11:14

Its a YES !! And yes it came in a big envelope.

paranoidmum123 · 14/02/2020 11:27

@villagegirlatheart - yes, the lunches are an additional cost.
As far as I am aware, there is no cost for the after school clubs but that may be because my DS did the ones that were free. There is a very wide variety of clubs.
So grateful to have a place for second DS!!

paranoidmum123 · 14/02/2020 11:28

@LearningJourney
Yes big envelope!!!

LearningJourney · 14/02/2020 11:30

Thanks! Bigger is obviously better in this case Grin
Well done sons of @goobledygok and @paranoidmum123

BooRadley7 · 14/02/2020 11:31

Oh dear 😬... seems like no post for us today or is the post lady late?

LearningJourney · 14/02/2020 11:35

Oh no @BooRadley7
As it is officially results' day, you could probably ring the school and they will tell you.

LearningJourney · 14/02/2020 11:37

Is anyone else here hoping to be choosing between Hampton and RGS and do you have a favourite? Both such good schools.

goobledygok · 14/02/2020 11:40

@BooRadley7 feeling for you. The waiting is unbearable. Hope post lady comes out soon.

@Pyrfwondering got an envelope from St Georges too. They are all out today !!

goobledygok · 14/02/2020 11:46

@LearningJourney Congratulations and well done to your ds for getting offers from both. Great place to be in. We didn't get Hampton but if i was in your place - distance and commute would be at the top of my mind or DS preference if any.

Pyrfwondering · 14/02/2020 12:02

@BooRadley7, our post has only just arrived. Hang on in there!

@gobbledygook, both envelopes came together Smile... just have to wait till DS and DH get home, now...

so pleased to see so many yeses... feeling for everyone waiting on their post person

villagegirlatheart · 14/02/2020 12:37

@paranoidmum123 thanks for club info. Congratulations to all those with a yes 👍. Our post has arrived (haven't opened it) and is A4....

LearningJourney · 14/02/2020 12:53

@villagegirlatheart Well done for waiting with the envelope! School cant finish quick enough today!

villagegirlatheart · 14/02/2020 13:02

I've had to put it in another room so I can't see it 😂

LearningJourney · 14/02/2020 13:05

@villagegirlatheart ....not holding up to the light to read through the envelope then?? Grin

BooRadley7 · 14/02/2020 13:45

Just can’t believe it! Still no post...

Congratulations to you all receiving good news today!

Gargoura4 · 14/02/2020 13:59

My hubby went home to check and no post.

R272727 · 14/02/2020 14:11

@Oldtimer2020 thanks! DS is very sporty so worried there will not be enough sporty boys. How is the rugby?
@AtiBati gcse were also down too by a lot. Have there been any changes to school teachers??

villagegirlatheart · 14/02/2020 14:17

@LearningJourney hadn't thought of that....(goes off to look)! @R272727 my son plays rugby which is hilarious as he's teeny tiny - he loves it though! Gosh, some of you are having to wait a really long time for your post...hope it arrives soon!

Sunfish · 14/02/2020 14:17

We get to go again at 12+, DS is disappointed, but it's not a no. Hopefully will get some feedback to find out where he can improve.

Good luck x

Pyrfwondering · 14/02/2020 14:23

@R272727 the GCSE grading structure was changed for all subjects, last year, so it may be something linked to adjusting assessments to match the new requirements. Teaching staff that we met at the Open Days seemed to be long-service and happy to stay.

have you had your DS's RGS envelope today? good news?

BooRadley7 · 14/02/2020 14:36

At last, very late post and have an A4 envelope!

R272727 · 14/02/2020 14:39

@Pyrfwondering yes and is a yes for dsSmile

IvySquirrel · 14/02/2020 16:38

Massive congratulations to all getting an offer for RGS today! I've had 2 sons in the school, DS1 now at uni and DS2 about to take A levels. They went from state primary. I can't recommend the school enough. It has been amazing for both of them in all ways, academically, socially, sport, music, outdoor activities you name it. All the best to you on your RGS journeys!
