Boarding School blues

Hey, new to site......I could really do with chatting to someone else who's going through what me and my DH are going through right now. Our youngest son (11yrs) started boarding school this Wednesday and has rang several times a day demanding we pick him up. The phone call last night was the first without tears but right at the end he said please pick me up tomorrow, promise, please. How long will this last? Is there anyone else experiencing the same? My eldest son went too but he settled in like a dream and had now gone back this year to do his A-levels, despite the fact we told him after his GCSEs he could come home and study within our city. He chose to go back as he loves it there. We're at our wits end and I've aged 10 years from crying and it's only been 2 days!!

The youngest boarder I’m aware of personally was a 6 year old girl who’s father was in the Air Force.

Op how's it going. My DS 2 starting boarding two weeks ago today and is miserable, well he's miserable to me and happy to everyone else.

It's full on and he is very busy. I am pretty sure he will love it, his room is very near his big bros.

I think they want us to hear that they miss us as they are unsure how to say they are happy to us. We are def moving him after 2 terms if he hasn't settled but will see how it goes. We have seen him 4 times since and his exeat is in 10 days!!

Hello. Wondering if you are still there and if this ever improved ? I am suffering the same.

@Daffodil99 , this thread is 5 years old, there is a boarding school section on MN now with an active thread for newbies

My advice would be go and pick your DS/ DD up @Daffodil99 . My DS settled and stopped asking us , most do in the end.

DS only really told us the extent of the misery in his school after he left. He recently said " Can you image how bad life must be at home to perfer that environment '.

Our decision has destroyed us , if only we could go back in time....
