Anyone applying here this year. Nervous already.

Must be imminent to allow us to sort out diaries. I think it is post notification but not sure. Are DSs looking for 11+ or 13+. We are 11+.

butty4 · 15/01/2015 11:55

11+ for us too

notatigerhonest · 15/01/2015 12:09

We are 13+ entry.....nothing in the post this morning, but I would imagine they would need to try and get something out in the next day of so as sometimes post is slow....wouldn't be very fair to receive a "come for an interview" letter the day before?...so they probably have to send the letters out today to arrive for Friday or Saturday....unless of course they are going to do it via e-mail instead of a letter (which would make more sense as you could respond and say you received it.....). As you can see I am COMPLETELY overthinking this!!!

beegee · 15/01/2015 12:23

11+ here. I'm feeling bit dispondent today as I spoke to a local dad yesterday - he has two DSs at RGS (they love it) but when I said my DS didn't finish VR paper plus couldn't do a couple of the maths questions at end he said that wasn't a great sign. It's what me and DH have been saying anyway, but to hear it from someone else.. You know, sort of makes it more real that it's a bit of a long shot. Not holding out much hope. Kind of hoping for second interview now so DS can show them how quickly he picks stuff up. He's really bright, just not used to exams. This was his first one. Anyway, notice how I'm over thinking everything too?! Have to STOP!

beegee · 15/01/2015 12:24

Also, agree with Notatiger - wish they did it by email. Quicker and less likely to screw up!

Kay34 · 15/01/2015 12:31

Beegee - see this post from 2013. Fayerfield got in - so its not 100% or nothing.

Hi Jiddle

Hope you get a yes. Sounds like our boys did the same.

My DS did not finish the comp last question worth 9 marks, completed VR, finished the letter inviting a friend to the school but no time to read it through, maths no time to do the last 4 questions and paper was hard but put down any letter answers for those ones and the interview he says was okay. Was asked about his hobbies and if he was an animal what he would be. He thinks that was okay. He thinks 70% sure fail Also sat the Reeds exam which was easy and came out smiling.

I hate this waiting......

Oh thanks Kay34.. That's interesting. Reassuring to hear

beegee · 15/01/2015 12:47

Post just arrived and made me jump out of my skin! (Only an electricity bill!) HATE this waiting

butty4 · 15/01/2015 14:04

met up with a friend today whos son got in last year......he also did not finish his VR paper and missed out some questions with the maths paper...but still got in!!!!!so don't give up hope, our little ones can surprise us sometimes.Cautiously looked at post today....isn't that sad!!

notatigerhonest · 15/01/2015 14:09

....and remember that there will be a report from your DS' school which will provide evidence that he may be brilliant at English/math/logic which might make up for the fact they had a bit of bad luck on one of the papers...that's what the interviews are for!

butty4 · 15/01/2015 14:22

Yes, totally agree

Tisawiedge · 15/01/2015 16:01

We are 11+ too. Is it always interview for those wanting to go at 11 and 12 + option for those wanting to go at 13? If that's the case and we get no interview letter or r ejection in next week or so, then surely you're fine???

abbadabbadoo2 · 15/01/2015 16:51

We too are 11+. My understanding is that rejection and acceptance letters are sent at the end of Jan - or even longer based on last years blogs. So only those who will be called back next week for 2nd interview will definitely get a letter in the next few days. Last year the HM said they called 60 back so 40 were accepted outright (about 10%).

Tisawiedge · 15/01/2015 16:56

40 of the 60 you mean?

Kay34 · 15/01/2015 17:02

But surely in the 60 called back as unsure there will be some accepted and some not accepted. I was guessing at 70 straight in and 60 unsure of which 30 will get in and 30 not.I'm hoping there is a percentage over-offer as some lucky children will get multiple offers and choose to go elsewhere.
(Have I created enough offers for us all yet?)

Tisawiedge · 15/01/2015 17:13

It's quite amusing watching us all speculate. It's so cruel isn't it? We will look back in years and wonder what all the fuss was about. But difficult when you've set your heart on it for your son. I've looked at threads from previous years and they were all doing the same. I think we'll definitely hear about second interviews tomorrow/sat and I'm hoping rejections early next week. Am I being too optimistic? Can't wait for a pitcher two/three weeks. It seems definite that offers will be received Feb half term.

Tisawiedge · 15/01/2015 17:14

Whoops should have said 'another' not 'pitcher'!

abbadabbadoo2 · 15/01/2015 17:22

No sorry was not clear enough. HM said in his chat on Saturday that of the 100 total, 40 were accepted out right and 60 were called back for 2nd interview. From that he was inferring that most of those called back got in. Not everyone would accept so there must be a few more offered, but he was just giving us round numbers as an example.

butty4 · 15/01/2015 17:56

Really, 40 accepted out right, I thought it would be higher. So i guess if we do get letters tomorrow for 'not sure' interviews then we can be fairly optimistic of the outcome.Obviously trying to convince myself its a good thing!!!!!! My postie comes pretty early around 10am so will post here if there is any news.

Wellington15 · 15/01/2015 19:22

I know quite a number of boys who didnt complete their papers but got in with a second interview. They are all doing well. They look for potential rather than just all 100%. X

beegee · 15/01/2015 22:13

Interesting to read this. I'm really hoping DS has a call back. I doubt he would be accepted outright. I hope he gets another chance. So... Hoping for post tomorrow/Saturday now! This waiting is all consuming and it's not even been a week yet Confused Wine

beegee · 15/01/2015 22:45

Btw I asked my DS (as calmly as I could LOL) why he didn't guess the rest of the answers on the Maths paper (as it was multiple choice) just so he could finish and he said that it was requested they don't make guesses on the paper. Not sure how accurate that is. He was a bit confused by it and said 'did that mean they wanted me to leave it blank if I didn't know?' He said that's what he did. Left the questions he didn't know...blank. Hairy scary!

Tisawiedge · 16/01/2015 10:54

Any post anyone?

Wellington15 · 16/01/2015 11:16

So far no. Keeping fingers crossed!

butty4 · 16/01/2015 11:16

nothing here!!
