Thanks sazzy5. Yes, indeed. So proud of DS. He worked so hard and kept a level head going through it all.
CONGRATULATIONS to all so far x

Kay34 · 13/02/2015 15:50

We're in too - congratulations everyone. Beegee - you and DS deserve a scholarship for stamina!

Does anyone know how many places are there for 11+

Bert68 · 13/02/2015 17:20

We're in too for 11+. DS did so well - sat 3 and got 3 offers! Shocked.
Usually 100 in 4 classes split alphabetically and by language (french or Spanish) from what I know of other years

Rai18 · 13/02/2015 18:06

Thank you Bert68.

mawoo · 13/02/2015 18:15

ads has a place too. So pleased and look forward to next year already.

Reebie · 13/02/2015 22:35

Hi! I've been following in the shadows! Massive congratulations to all those who got places. We are in the unenviable position of being asked back next year at 12+ for a 13+ entry. We don't live locally, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience of this situation. How many get offered the chance to resit next year - and of those how many are offered a place - we are trying to work out if it is worth putting ourselves through the mill again or not!

MrAndMrsSmythe · 13/02/2015 23:24

Hi Reebie

I'm sorry to hear that your DS didn't quite get an offer this time :-(. I honestly don't know the answer to your question, but I'd say he must have been VERY close.

I really don't think the school would invite your DS back unless they thought there was a real prospect of him passing in a year's time. They know how agonising the whole process is and they are in the business of caring for and nurturing the kids who they think can thrive at their school. I'd say it's pretty encouraging, as I'm sure they don't want to offer false hope . I'd phone them up and ask. I'd imagine Mrs. Sweet would be very helpful and then you'll know exactly what the chances are. In fact I'd imagine that they will be expecting to hear from you asking all these questions.

Best of luck

X

Massive Congratulations to all those who hv made it. Have a lovely half term and see you all in September! Xx

Unclebulariashat · 14/02/2015 15:26

Reebie - both boys from DS' prep who got a "come back at 12+" last year, got offered a place when they re-sat the test. I think that lots of people just give up and can't be bothered with the hassle.....also, I would stress that both these boys were very very bright and I was very surprised when they didn't make it first time round - the school is just oversubscribed and sometimes the right boys miss out. Good Luck!

Has everybody made up their minds on preferred school?

Whilst we were tempted by some sportier schools and where we know DS would be more likely to be nearer the top of the class, we are heading towards RGS. We like the curriculum, and the reports from ISI and Good School Guides are v persuasive.

Congratulations Kay34. Great news..
(Yes, wish there was a scholarship for stamina. Would definitely get one of those!!)
RGS was the only school we applied for, so it's either that or local state school for us. What choices do you have?

sazzy5 · 17/02/2015 08:01

Kay34 still thinking! Although have to say RGS is our DS favourite, that along with the schools outstanding record does make it the front runner. I am just glad we have choices :-)

Kay34 · 17/02/2015 08:30

The other main contender is Salesian for its convenience and football. We are lucky to have some good choices in the area.

Congratulations to all the boys who have got through the strenuous 11 plus process at RGS and well done to parents too. Feel for the boys who couldn't get through but I am sure they will do well wherever they go. Our son has an offer from RGS and also has offers from CLSBand Whitgift. It has been so confusing to decide which one now. Can someone please advise on areas to move closer to the school if we were to decide on RGS or does anyone commute from Gatwick to Guildford. We are thinking between CLSB and RGS. CLSB is commutable but still 50 mins away.

MrAndMrsSmythe · 20/04/2015 21:14

Does anyone know if there are any pre-enrolment days at all ?

When do Our DS first go to school? Is it the first day of term September or do they get to do anything beforehand ?

E.g. do they invited to the Summer fair ? Do they have one?

Thanks

Bert68 · 20/04/2015 22:29

There's a date in June they go in on - 24th from memory. There are details in the letter you got when you accepted the place

MrAndMrsSmythe · 21/04/2015 15:05

Ah yes, so there is . Thanks Bert!

MrAndMrsSmythe · 02/09/2015 20:34

How exciting - first day tomorrow! What time are we supposed to drop off and pick up our DS ??

I think it was fifteen minutes earlier than the regular times ....can't find that piece of paper work !
