6 days to go and starting to get anxious...!

OP posts:
MinimalistMommi · 06/10/2014 12:39

No, but I will be in your position next year so I just wanted to say Flowers and hand holding if needed!

MmeMorrible · 06/10/2014 13:10

No but I was there last year and it's still vivid in my memory. Good luck!

Taffeta · 07/10/2014 13:46

Yes. Good grief I never knew how slowly the days could go. We have a 5 week wait that is over next week.

My alcohol consumption has seen a sharp increase of late.

areyoubeingserviced · 07/10/2014 14:11

My dd is getting her results next week.
I wasn't nervous before, but I am now.
She sat the Kent test which was supposed to be harder this year.

Tanaqui · 07/10/2014 14:13

Apparently the Kent test pass mark will be about 320 this year (usually 360), which I guess suggests it was hard.

HamNJam · 07/10/2014 14:14

We were waiting last year, I feel your pain Flowers And then depending in the score, there's the even longer wait until March National Allocation Day Sad

Ds took it, but we're not bothered about the results, realistically he had no chance of passing. Might not be so nonchalant in 2yrs time, as dd1 wants to go to a grammar.

Hakluyt · 07/10/2014 15:05

"Yep, DD2 gets results this Saturday."

Really,LaQueen? I thought yours were both at grammar school already........

MrsMinton · 07/10/2014 15:11

Ten days to go. I hope people get the results they would like.

Oh, yes. I forgot your supreme self confidence!

smokepole · 07/10/2014 18:26

Tanaqui. The pass mark has been 360 for years ! 320 have they changed the test beyond recognition then.

NerfHerder · 07/10/2014 18:30

Is overweening confidence more or less deleterious a trait than hypocrisy?

InMySpareTime · 07/10/2014 18:31

I'm waiting. Pass mark is 334 in Trafford, but I bucked the trend by not having DD tutored for years on end so we'll see if the schools' assertion that tutoring is not necessary to pass is borne out in reality...

Hakluyt · 07/10/2014 18:34

Hypocrisy is worse. Can't stand hypocrites. Confidence is often just an accurate evaluation of the situation.

pickledsiblings · 07/10/2014 18:35

We are waiting but the odds are against us. We didn't do the tutoring thing either but prepared by doing familiarisation papers and making sure content was covered.

I will be elated if DS1 gets a high enough mark for the super-selective. He will pass but as we only have one bite at the cherry (different county so only 1 grammar close enough), passing is sadly not enough.

Any reasonably bright DC can pass I think.

Are you two for real?

pickledsiblings · 07/10/2014 19:20

Yes, I don't think you could be quite as confident if it was for super selective entry LaQ as many very able DC miss out.

RabbitOfNegativeEuphoria · 07/10/2014 19:41

I certainly wasn't as confident as LaQ was this time last year, even though everyone else who knew DD2 was clearly even more confident that she would succeed than LaQ appeared to be about her own DD. As it transpired, I had nothing to worry about (as with DD1) but I have far too much respect for the lords of karma to take anything for granted. I suspect LaQ sleeps better at night than I do but really, there's nothing I can do about it - I envy confident types but I can never be one. It's just not in me.

Taffeta · 07/10/2014 19:45

Have you seen the eleven plus forums appeals section?!

Hakluyt · 07/10/2014 19:49

Rabbit- I am very glad that the confidence of everyone around me did not overrule my English middle class self deprecation. Or my son would have been a very unhappy boy, and I would have looked like a dick.

Just a rumour I saw elsewhere Smokepole- but fits with what people have been saying about the maths this year.
