Help please, Buyer saying they received toilet paper not pram

Angelika321 · 25/01/2020 08:33

As above really. I sent a pram via courier sold for £300, but the buyer is telling me they received toilet paper.

Ebay are insisting I accept the return, (and then file an appeal) but I don't see why I should.

Do I have any recourse?

Did she blank out the address on the label or did you?

Angelika321 · 25/01/2020 23:06

I've asked for a clearer picture. I told her Hermes have requested it. But I have a feeling it won't be forthcoming.

I blanked out her address, I didn't want to get in trouble by posting it publically.

So it’s the correct address but a different label.

Have you put all this in writing to eBay - different label, different numbers? eBay could request from her a clear photo of the numbers.

BringOnTheBotox · 25/01/2020 23:27

Definitely the buyers trying to pull a fast one! You can see in the CCTV that the pram parcel is heavy by the way the guy it moving it along.

Also, if a courier was dodgy and was going to nick an item surely they'd just 'lose' the item rather than going to the trouble of wrapping loads of rolls of toilet paper, replacing the label, etc.

I have an EBay business and in your situation I would do as has been suggested on here and contact the police. The buyer may have form for fraudulent behaviour. I once reported a fraudulent buyer to the police fraud helpline and they said that sometimes they just need one more report of fraud about that person to act, so your report to the police may be the last one they need to take action.

BumbleBeee69 · 25/01/2020 23:29

I hope Ebay can see what she's done.. it's blatant fraud.. Flowers

BringOnTheBotox · 25/01/2020 23:30

Also as some others have suggested upthread, check out the buyers' social media for any pics of the pram.

JKScot4 · 25/01/2020 23:31

If you printed your label do you still have a copy in your email for comparison?
I think she’s made this parcel herself to try and con the ££ refund.
I’d be looking to see if your pram is for sale on any local selling sites.
Did she respond to your msg regards police?

Doyoumind · 25/01/2020 23:41

I'm hoping for you that when ebay see the difference in the address label you downloaded from them and printed and the label on the package, together with the CCTV that they will side with you.

Hopefully you have got the scammer feeling very uncomfortable.

Gonetoget · 25/01/2020 23:45

I think EBay should come down harder on these kind of people if she’s found out to be scamming, it’s effectively stealing and should be treated as such - prosecution and fines.
There’s no deterrent, at most EBay will ban her and she’ll just open another account.

mummmy2017 · 26/01/2020 01:58

Tell eBay this .
You can call PayPal and speak to a person.

Gogreen · 26/01/2020 02:17

If it’s not your label on the parcel, then it’s not your parcel that was delivered.

Does the label on the toilet roll clearly show your address underneath theirs as the sender?

When you attached your label to your parcel did you tape it down all around the edges?

The answers to those questions would determine if the courier has mixed up accidentally or they are trying to scam you.

Christmastreedown · 26/01/2020 07:10

I have been scammed by ebay buyer before hence i only sell collection only items.

How do these people live with themselves?

LittleDoveLove · 26/01/2020 07:20

You could ask the parcel shop to provide cctv which shoes your husband deliver it. Also to ask courier firm to speak to courier himself. Was it an actual bin bag?
I would also search their user name online and see if they have previous of doing this.

LittleDoveLove · 26/01/2020 07:32

Also it looks like she's tried to put a fake label on copying yours. Your case is very strong either. I am pretty sure it will be her and not Hermes. I have used Hermes for a lot of items and I've never had a problem either with sending or receiving in my area. Would also like another person said be tempted if not too far to see if she is using that pram or it's back on eBay under another seller name x

LittleDoveLove · 26/01/2020 07:32

Either way*

yogo · 26/01/2020 07:35

It's the buyer, why take a photo of the unopened parcel? Scammy fucker

KatherineJaneway · 26/01/2020 07:40

How do these people live with themselves?

Because they get away with it scott free. As pp said, this us why I don't sell on Ebay anymore.

Jellybeansincognito · 26/01/2020 07:42

This is awful op.
Some people are absolutely disgusting. I hope you get to the bottom of it & get refunded.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 26/01/2020 07:42

I've had issues with selling on ebay, I sold a BNWT dress, sent recorded delivery, a few days after it had been signed for I had a message to say that the dress was damaged. She opened a case and I had to accept the return - she had clearly worn the dress as there were deodorant marks on it and it smelled of perfume and cigarette smoke. She got her refund and the dress went to the charity shop.
Ebay sides with the buyer far too often imo.

I hope you get this resolved op.

BackyardChickens · 26/01/2020 07:57

Rooting for you op!

catnaps1995 · 26/01/2020 07:58

Yeah the buyer seems like a right scam artist. Am following this closely, I really hope you don't have to give a refund. The parcels are completely different. I agree with a previous poster. Find them on social media and see if they start uploading pictures of a pram!

Angelika321 · 26/01/2020 08:24

I'm so sorry to hear of all the people who have been scammed on ebay, your stories make me so mad.

I'm going to call ebay again this morning and update them with the info I have. Fingers crossed I get the Ireland call centre, otherwise I'll try tomorrow morning.`

@Gogreen If it’s not your label on the parcel, then it’s not your parcel that was delivered.

Does the label on the toilet roll clearly show your address underneath theirs as the sender?

No it doesn't show a return address on the top label, the label underneath seems to show an address but it's impossible to read, however the label underneath shows a 10kg weight but my label shows 15kg at the top.

When you attached your label to your parcel did you tape it down all around the edges?
Yes, I taped down all 4 sides

The answers to those questions would determine if the courier has mixed up accidentally or they are trying to scam you.

Once again, thank you for all your advice it's great to know people are rooting for me.

Agree see if they start using the pram on social media.

I sold a dress on eBay a while ago. Buyer claimed it hadn’t arrived despite it being signed for on delivery.

I looked them up and saw pics on Facebook of them wearing the dress. Sent these to eBay. Along with the “the person signed for the dress and is wearing it so how did they not recieve it?!” Message

MissingMySleep · 26/01/2020 08:33

Also ring paypal they'll put notes on the transaction. If you can zoom in on the label she's shown and show your label is different, PayPal should block her requesting a refund.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/01/2020 08:34

Sorry to hear you’ve been scammed.

Why is the buyer so adamant it’s your parcel. Can’t you say, oh no that’s not the label I used, obviously my parcel hasn’t arrived yet.
