@mabel9 I suppose you would never know if it were chemical as you didn't have a blood test to confirm so they wouldn't have checked your levels. I've got all my fingers crossed for you though!

mabel9 · 29/08/2020 08:55

Hi @mabel9 yeah, I went to the NHS back when we were trying and not aware of husbands infertility, I started the test process but it was so slow hence why we ended up at GCRM (for tests initially) and found out that hubby had 1x sperm in his sample and 0 in his next!! How we ever conceived before I don’t know!! I think I’ll probably stick with private and keep my fingers crossed that this stage of the journey is quick 🤞
That’s good you can get NHS treatment if it’s a full sibling match. How many vials did you initially buy?
Yeah, I’d never know and I’m only going by how I felt and the two faint positive tests.

@mabel9 we initially purchased 6 as we'd always planned to have 2 children and the nurses at GCRM suggested purchasing that incase it took a few rounds. We've got 2 left sitting there which will stay in storage until no2 arrives. I think we were concerned about paying additional shipping costs as I can't remember it being cheap. We'll that round was a practice shot and now you can sit back and relax for this one to take hold. The waiting lists are annoying, you Judt want to grt things underway and not to be told to wait x amount to move your life forward. Are you on the waiting list anyways? I suppose there is no harm on being on it. Did you try the councilling at the clinic? We were forced to though the NHS because we were using a donor but some of the questions and hypothetical they came up with were hilarious.

mabel9 · 30/08/2020 10:04

That’s good you bought 6, we have only bought 3!
Yeah, I’m just patiently waiting for my turn 🤞
I think I’ll keep with GCRM, we live in a very small community where the nurses and midwifes are family and friends and we haven’t told a single soul about my husbands infertility issue.
Yeah, I had one counselling session which was good and I may go back as sometimes it can be hard to only talk to each other (husband), but this thread has massively helped so a huge thank you. I think I also like to deal with facts and statistics which you can’t really get with counselling 🤣
How did you find it?

LifeIsBusy · 31/08/2020 21:55

@mabel9 I think we found it a little odd. They kept presenting us with hypothetical situations that statistically would never come up e.g what happens if your sonor conceived child wants to take a girl to the prom but your concerned they might be genetically related. Do you think you need to tell friends and family?

Tasha1607 · 02/09/2020 06:32

Hi guys.
Scan went really well we have one healthy squidge in there. Can't believe how clear this came out already!

@mabel9 how are you getting on? When do you test?

@LifeIsBusy how are you getting on? Have you had your scan?

LifeIsBusy · 02/09/2020 07:35

@Tasha1607 thats one clear looking kidney bean in there. Congratulations! How was it for the both of you? How are you feeling now? Did you get an EDD?

Mine isn't until next Tuesday so i've got a few days to wait but we are fairly busy settling DS back into nursery this week so i'm fortunate that its not until next week as his aunt will have to collect him.

Tasha1607 · 02/09/2020 07:38

@LifeIsBusy one very clear baby! Couldn't believe it. We are good. My wife wasn't allowed in which was upsetting but I managed to record it for her. Apart from the morning sickness we are all coping okay!

Oh god! I don't think I could've waited another week. Are you excited?

Yes our EDD is 19/04/21

LifeIsBusy · 02/09/2020 08:26

@Tasha1607 i'm sorry I thought she would have been allowed in. I e-mailed to check at my clinic and shes allowed to come but I fully expect that she wont be allowed to attend the NHS scans or midwife appointments.

I'm honestly trying not to think about it too much and stay as calm as possible but quietly excited. Its weird I have some days where I think nah... this can't be real and I feel ok so something must be wrong and others were my head is so sore and I feel really ill and then I remind myself that everything's fine because I feel like poop.

I feel thats a good date to have a baby, April was a lovely hot month this year (even in Scotland)

Tasha1607 · 02/09/2020 08:29

@LifeIsBusy
It's fine. She is allowed into the NHS appointments thank fully and we didn't hear the heartbeat as they don't do that in hospitals anymore. You only hear the heartbeat with the midwife. So we have got something to look forward to.

I know exactly how you feel. Today is the 3rd day on the trot with severe nausea.

Yes' spring baby! And not pregnant in the summer!

LifeIsBusy · 02/09/2020 08:59

@Tasha1607 I am rather excited not to be pregnant in the summer. Last time my wife found me on the floor refusing to move because I was simply too hot after a cold shower.

We didn't hear a heartbeat until 16 weeks if I remember correctly but I remember the midwife saying that it might have been a little early to check and not to panic if she couldn't find anything. Is your first appointment with the midwife in two weeks? I've still not called them #LivingInDenial

Are you going to find out the sex or wait for the big day?

Tasha1607 · 02/09/2020 09:02

@LifeIsBusy oh no! I couldn't deal with that. My body temperature is normally hot anyway!

It's on 23rd as the doctor could do all the initial stuff. And then dating scan on 8th October. It's going to be mad to see how much squidge has grown from the scan yesterday.

And I don't think we are going to find out. We are not particularly bothered. My wife thinks it's a girl anyway! What about you guys?

mabel9 · 02/09/2020 10:05

@Tasha1607 that picture is so clear, amazing!! I think April is a lovely month for a new bubba.

I’m good thanks, my husband mentioned last night that he thinks I’m far more relaxed this time which I agree with. We celebrated our two year wedding anniversary and I enjoyed a few glasses of champagne which was lovely.

@mabel9 oh congratulations! That's good to hear that you are more relaxed. How is it in comparison to your previous try? Do you know when you're testing?

mabel9 · 04/09/2020 07:58

@Tasha1607 don’t feel any different than normal, apart from more relaxed. Could you tell a difference between iui 1 and iui 2?
I’m going to test 1 week today. 🤞

Hi Ladies, hope you don't mind joining me in it.
About to go in for my first iui ... once done... what should I do to make it successful?

mabel9 · 05/09/2020 09:40

Hi @Maddie020 I’ve not got my positive results yet so can’t really answer, but I would say that staying relaxed and busy helps me. Good luck!!

Hi all! Been a while since I popped back in here. After we abandoned the first cycle I was feeling pretty emotional and kind of shut myself off from everything. We finally had our consultation with the specialist yesterday who's tweaked my medication and we're going to try for IUI round 2 (or 1.5 really, as we didn't do the procedure last time!) with my next cycle.

How are you all doing?

Catwoman1985 · 05/09/2020 21:33

Best of luck with it @BananaHammock23 and @Maddie020. Our advice is to try and relax and not worry, as much as is possible anyway! My wife is suffering with her morning sickness currently and we just have everything crossed that things work out long term.

Tasha1607 · 05/09/2020 21:35

@mabel9 both my IUI were completely different. Symptoms how my body responded.

@Maddie020 hi! Good luck to start with. I felt fresh pineapple and pineapple juice helped. Eating healthy balanced diet and staying calm and collective until test day! Sex I would like to say helped. I got pregnant on my 2nd IUI. And these are the things are I did differently to the first time.

Tasha1607 · 05/09/2020 21:35

@BananaHammock23 good luck on this cycle! Everything crossed for you!

Maddie020 · 05/09/2020 21:55

@Tasha1607 @Catwoman1985 @mabel9 : thanks ladies xx
Trying to rest and relax as much as I can but the anxiousness has started it's only been 1 day, god know how am I going to survive this 2ww 🤣
Did you get any symptoms? If so, when did it start?

Also, had pineapple with core first thing in morning😉

Tasha1607 · 05/09/2020 22:33

@Maddie020
Are you on a medicated IUI. I went medicated and compared to my first round it was completely different.
TO start with I had no spotting unlike I did previously straight after the insemination.
Then my smell, craving, my body changed instantly, but that is part and parcel of taking the pessaries. But my mood was happier. I was more confident in myself. And I knew I was pregnant before doing the test. The first time I knew i wasn't pregnant.
It's really hard to explain.

Tasha1607 · 05/09/2020 22:34

@Maddie020 also the 2WW is the worst! However try and stay calm and positive. After my first round I put myself down. And she said to me the universe will allow to happen when it is meant to happen. So I kept an open mind to it second time round.

Maddie020 · 06/09/2020 10:01

@Tasha1607 I am on IUI with Clomid. Yes, trying to be as much positive as I can be and resting, just want some signs though 😉
