@mabel9.. How did today go? Was today the day or do you need to wait another day?

LifeIsBusy · 26/08/2020 20:01

@Tasha1607 that's really good that they gave you the option to stay at home and that you're taking it! I noticed that pregnancy still puts you in the at risk category so it's beet I'm we all try and avoid getting covid at the minute... Not like we were out to get it anyways! Have you told anyone yet?

Tasha1607 · 26/08/2020 20:29

@LifeIsBusy we have told my wife's parents. And her sister. We want to tell people face to face. And with our jobs being quite demanding we only see family once in a while. So we have a few occasions booked in when we will tell them when we see them. We won't be announcing it until the majority of parents, siblings and grandparents know.

What about you guys?

mabel9 · 26/08/2020 20:55

Hi @LifeIsBusy I had my surge today (so timing was perfect for me to get to Glasgow) and iui tomorrow 11.30am! I had to give myself a trigger shot tonight which I didn’t do last time though.

@mabel9 that's amazing news. Good luck!!!

LifeIsBusy · 27/08/2020 07:20

@mabel9 what clinic are you using? Thats fantastic news! I've got all my fingers and toes crossed for you. Did you travel down alone? I hope you're trying to stay as relaxed as possible!

LifeIsBusy · 27/08/2020 08:07

@Tasha1607 I agree that it's better to do it in person. I imagine everyone will be soo excited! Did many family members know you were going through treatment? We only told a couple of people this time round so they're the only people that know at the minute. I think we might wait a little longer until it sinks in a little and we start to believe it.

Tasha1607 · 27/08/2020 09:42

@LifeIsBusy Yeah. It's big news. And I think after the year we are having a bit of good news just cheers people up.

Most of our friends and family know we were having treatment we just didn't tell them when we were starting the treatment. We told most people it would be the end of the year. So hopefully it is a surprise when we tell them it's worked.

LifeIsBusy · 27/08/2020 10:07

@Tasha1607 we decided to not really tell People this year as we found it difficult to talk about it 24/7 when we seen people last time due to the failed attempts. We're all having a bit of a stinker of a year so anything positive coming out of it would be epic really. How are you feeling? I think this pregnancy feels way worse than last time around, I feel like poop 😔.

Tasha1607 · 27/08/2020 10:16

@LifeIsBusy thats completely understandable. I know what you mean it seems to topic of conversation all the times.

I feel fine. Every other day seems to be nausea. But apart from that I am fine. Bless you. I know. Couple of people who are pregnant that are feeling the same. Definitely takes it out of you. Just take it Steady. My wife doesn't let me do anything bless her. Low and behold to her I'll be doing the house work today. Kind of missed doing it

Catwoman1985 · 27/08/2020 10:46

Hi everyone we're on our second round of IUI. We got pregnant first time round which was amazing but then sadly had an early miscarriage so we're a bit anxious this time. My wife is pregnant again (6 weeks in) so we have everything crossed that this one sticks.

LifeIsBusy · 27/08/2020 11:06

@Catwoman1985 welcome and I congratulate you on your recent news. I'm sorry that you both had to suffer through a MC. It always seems like it's something that happens to other people but can easily effect your both. Did you both process it OK?

LifeIsBusy · 27/08/2020 11:08

@Tasha1607 I think I'm too stubborn to stop doing anything and did some questionable things last time whilst pregnant but in my defence... I felt grand 😂. I am slightly jealous of your day on day off as I had to nip to the bathroom during dinner last night which was awful upsetting as I was really enjoying it 😡.

Tasha1607 · 27/08/2020 11:12

@LifeIsBusy oh no! I've got to say I've only been fully sick once. The rest it feels like I'm on boat with huge waves. I sit and eat hob nobs as that is the only thing I can stomach.

Is this pregnancy different to the last one then?

LifeIsBusy · 27/08/2020 11:33

@Tasha1607 at least this phase is short lived, 5-6 weeks to go! It's definitely different as last time I used to feel a little off in the morning but thst was cured with a sausage roll and a cup of tea. This time round I just feel a lot of meh but that could be that I'm less rested this time round due to the small human or it just proves every pregnancy is totally different.

Tasha1607 · 27/08/2020 12:00

@LifeIsBusy that is true. Does you child know that you are pregnant or are you leaving that to later on?

LifeIsBusy · 27/08/2020 13:05

@Tasha1607 he doesn't but he's also too young to understand at the minute. I wonder what age they would be able to understand... Maybe not for another year I'm guessing but I suppose all kids are different. Is your wife allowed to go to the early scan? I've been meaning to contact the clinic and ask as I forgot at the time.

mabel9 · 27/08/2020 15:31

Thank you @LifeIsBusy @Tasha1607
iui all done, now to relax and wait (ie rush back up the road and back to work 🤣)
I’m with GCRM, I like them. Who are you with?

Catwoman1985 · 27/08/2020 19:30

Thanks @LifeIsBusy. Yes we've processed the miscarriage well, thanks, and were able to support one another but still nervous this time around. Just got to keep everything crossed!

LifeIsBusy · 27/08/2020 23:29

@Mabel9 I can't believe we're at the same clinic! I love the staff there. Did you not Judt think everyone was super happy all the time?

mabel9 · 28/08/2020 08:22

Ahhh, amazing @LifeIsBusy
Yes, they are so nice and understanding (especially with me regarding using ovulation tests). Have both your iuis happened there? Did you have to use a trigger shot the night before?

OP posts:
LifeIsBusy · 28/08/2020 10:02

@mabel9, have you made it back home now? Only this IUI was done at GCRM but my wife had her first 3 IUIs done there before we moved to the NHS. My wife had to use hers all 3 times and the top up one and I was given both but only ended up using the one a few days after the IUI. I think with using the full injection you need to be wary of testing early but I don't think you tested early last time? How are you feeling about this round?

LifeIsBusy · 28/08/2020 10:04

@Catwoman1985 I totally get it. It's a worrying time for all but it must be that much harder after a recent loss.

mabel9 · 28/08/2020 12:35

Yes, I’m back home @LifeIsBusy after a very long journey home yesterday.
How long did you have to wait for nhs?
Yeah, I didn’t have to trigger last time but I did this time. I’m feeling okay, I felt myself ovulate last night around 7ish so hoping the sperm was there, waiting and ready 🤣
No I tested a day after my period was due last time, they think by the sounds of it that I possibly had a chemical, but I’m really not sure.

@mabel9 We contacted the NHS first but there was a year waiting list hence why we tried privately first. Have you spoken to your GP about TTC? Normally they like to see that you have been TTC for at least a year but if you approached them knowing that a donor is required and they hadn't already known about you TTC then they may just refer you? I suppose its always nice to have a backup option if this route isn't successful. We were actually trying to go back to the NHS to have a 2nd child through paid for privately on the NHS which they only do for a full sibling match and only if they have enough viles left but we haven't heard anything back yet and we figured it might be a while before we hear anything as we were only referred back up in Feb and then everything kicked off. By the sounds of it the NHS are still trying to get their clinics up and running again so it will be a while before they take on new patients.
