@LifeIsBusy I have no idea. Hopefully the doc has got more answers for me. Think I'm going to ask to get signed off work for the time being.

LifeIsBusy · 05/11/2020 12:57

@Tasha1607 I say you get yourself sign off and go lie down and relax. Sounds like you're having a terrible time.

Tasha1607 · 05/11/2020 14:18

@LifeIsBusy they've said I don't need one until the isolation period is over. And I'm off work for the next 4 days due my shift pattern, so fingers crossed I'll get over it by the time I'm due back and don't need one and can rest up.

Is it bad that I want to put the Xmas decorations up lol. Bubs ain't here yet but certainly feels like I wanna do something for bubs to celebrate in a weird way.

LifeIsBusy · 05/11/2020 14:29

@Tasha1607 My neighbours have had their decorations up for weeks. Something to do with the fact they needed a little extra cheer given the dull year we've had. So I say why not!

I on the other than am going to wait... between the springer spaniel puppy and a toddler I fear that my decorations would not make it to xmas day unless I hold out.

Tasha1607 · 17/11/2020 13:08

@LifeIsBusy how are you doing? Week 18 nearly half way!

ally99101 · 17/11/2020 13:52

Hi, how is everyone doing?

Looks like I'll be having my first go of IUI this week hopefully. Fingers crossed.

Had bloods taken on Friday, then again yesterday and booked in again tomorrow so think after tomorrow's might be given the go ahead to trigger and maybe have the treatment on Friday. Otherwise perhaps Monday but I think that would be a tad late.

I was really worried that they'd call after my first bloods and say the levels weren't what they expected (I've always worried I might have PCOS) but no phone call on Friday and when I asked the nurse yesterday she said levels have been fine so far and no phone call again yesterday so hoping for no last minute disappointments!

Also really hoping the info we got a couple of months ago is still current in that my wife can be there for the IUI itself.

Tasha1607 · 17/11/2020 14:09

@ally99101 good luck with everything. I hope it works out for you. It sounds like you're heading in the right direction!!!!

ally99101 · 17/11/2020 14:42

@Tasha1607 thank you Grin

LifeIsBusy · 18/11/2020 12:18

@ally99101 You're at GCRM aren't you? If so, my wife was allowed to attend the IUI itself and the following pregnancy scan but nothing else.

Good luck! Thats incredibly exciting for you both. How are you feeling?

@Tasha1607 18 + 2 and counting. It feels like its flying in this time compared to DS but I suppose with our first we didn't really have a lot else to think about. How are you feeling? Are you feeling any solid movements yet? Although I thought I could feel stuff early on I haven't noticed anything in ages but i'm not overly concerned as im pretty sure it was much later on last time before I felt anything crazy. We just got locked up though :(

LifeIsBusy · 18/11/2020 12:18

@mabel9 How are you doing?
@BananaHammock23 How are you doing, its November :)

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 18/11/2020 12:20

We have had three kids through IUI - Natural IUI. My husband is infertile so we used donor. Ask me anything as you go through your journey

ally99101 · 18/11/2020 12:28

Thanks @LifeIsBusy, that's useful and sounds promising, wife has been feeling bad that she can't really do much of anything at the moment while I get tests etc so it'll be good if she can be there. Had bloods again this morning and nurse thinks I may be told to trigger today or tomorrow with IUI possibly on Friday so waiting to hear from them later today hopefully. Very excited that it's finally here! We're not putting too much pressure on this first go, looking at it like a learning experience to understand the process, timings etc. That's what I'm telling myself anyway, sure the 2ww will be a much different story Shock

Glad to hear you're doing well by the sound of things!

LifeIsBusy · 18/11/2020 13:41

@ally99101 Its a strange experience at the minute as partners are getting left out of the majority of the pregnancy and they miss all the stretchmarks, mood swings, sickness, stiffness and anything else that pregnancy brings. I have to envy them a little.

Hopefully it will be in the next couple of days and then you'll be into your first 2ww. I want to know how long you last before you wee on a stick. I never made it to the full 2 weeks with either. I did tell myself I was going to be cool as a cucumber... WHOOPS!

ally99101 · 18/11/2020 13:47

@LifeIsBusy haha, I will let you know how long I make it without checking! Hoping I'll get to at least double figures! Surely!

8obbingabout · 22/11/2020 11:55

I am very new to Mumsnet but I have been lurking for a few weeks trying to work out all the acronyms used here. So pleased to come across this thread.

Myself and my partner are TTC (I am 38) and currently started our first round of IUI (medicated) this month. We had our first insemination on Wednesday (with donor sperm) and on our 2WW now. We are 5DPO at the moment.

I found the medication ok with no side effects. The trigger injection was fine although a little fiddly. I did however have cramping after the insemination for a day or 2 but I think this maybe due to ovulating from 2 follicles on both sides of my ovaries.

We are trying to stay relaxed and not get our hopes up about this first round but we also have our fingers toes and eyes crossed.

Good Luck to everyone here. It would be nice to have some good news ahead of Christmas

ally99101 · 22/11/2020 12:50

Welcome @8obbingabout. Nice to have you here and good luck with your first round of treatment. I had my first IUI on Thursday so we'll be getting results around the same time, how exciting. I'm booked on for bloods on the 4th, when are you getting tested? Are you doing another trigger shot? We've to take about a 3rd of the dose on Wednesday.

We had an unmedicated cycle so just had blood checks for 3 days from day 10 and then trigger shot on Wednesday at 6pm, IUI on Thursday morning.

Can't say I've felt any different, no cramping etc. Not pinning all our hopes on round 1 as chances aren't great so just see how we get on and happy to go straight into round 2 in December if it doesn't work.

Which clinic are you using?

BananaHammock23 · 22/11/2020 15:00

Hey everyone - how are we all?

Thanks for checking in @LifeIsBusy - I've been having IVF, and had my egg collection on Friday. I've felt bloody awful during stimulation and now after the collection as well so have to admit I'm wishing IUI could've worked for us!! I'm supposed to be having an embryo transfer on Wednesday but the way I'm feeling now I'm considering holding off until my next cycle - I'm sooo bloated and sore and nauseous! How are you??

8obbingabout · 22/11/2020 16:59

Hi ally

Thank You. I love the community feel here on mums net and its so great hearing about everyones experience and all the good tips!

oh good luck to you. We look to be just one day apart then. We had our insemination on Wednesday and will be having a test on Wednesday 2nd December. Fingers crossed for us both!

We are having medication with IUI which meant that I had an internal scan on day 3 of my period to check the lining and follicles. I then took Leterozole for 5 days and had 2 scans during this period to check the follicle development. By the 5th day I had 2 good sized follicles and was asked to take the tigger injection Ovitrole the following evening ready for Insemination the following day at the clinic.

I found the insemination process fairly quick and pain free although found the speculum quite uncomfortable initially. I had cramping that evening and the following day. I think that maybe to do with the trigger shot and ovulation more than anything else. No other symptoms since a little bloated a little tired and a little emotional. Still a long wait to go though. Trying to stay relaxed and calm about this all. Cant help but wonder whats happening in there though Smile

We have been told to test in 2 weeks and not before as the medication can give a false positive result.

LifeIsBusy · 22/11/2020 19:35

@8obbingabout you might find the cramping was from the speculum as your body won't be use to the extreme stretch required for iui 😂. I wish you and @ally99101 all the best for the next couple of weeks.

You're right that testing early can lead to false positives and if you spend enough time on Google you'll find all sorts of ways around it which mostly involve on peeing on sticks to pee out the trigger. I personally only had the top up hcg shot and got the calculator out knowing the half life of it 😂😂. Even then I was sure it was a false positive when I started testing at 10 dp iui.

Stay calm and try and ignore it as much as possible!

@BananaHammock9 I say you just go for it. The initial parts of pregnancy make you feel like pants anyways so you may as well take the plunge all at one go.

8obbingabout · 22/11/2020 21:37

@ally99101 oooooops forgot to add we are with the Londons Woman's Clinic
@LifeIsBusy Thanks so much. I will let you know how it goes Smile

ODAAT260718 · 28/11/2020 17:45

Hi Ladies. I shall be starting my 1st round of iui in January 2021 and am feeling really apprehensive that it won't work. My partner had iui in her previous relationship and conceived 1st time so am feeling quite under pressure. Great to read all of your stories.

LifeIsBusy · 28/11/2020 22:43

@ODAAT260718 welcome! Don't feel the pressure and just sit back and relax! Everyones body is different as you'll be able to tell from this thread alone. We all have our different stories and at various stages of the crazy roller coaster. Enjoy your last few weeks of wine, soft cheese and rare steak.

ODAAT260718 · 28/11/2020 22:47

Ha ha thanks Life 😁 feeling very impatient and it's not even started yet

ally99101 · 28/11/2020 22:53

Welcome @ODAAT260718, it's all downhill from here when it comes to impatience, I'm currently just over half way through my first ever 2 week wait and I just want it to be over one way or the other but hopefully the excitement of Christmas keeps you busy and it'll be January before you know it! Good luck with everything

ODAAT260718 · 28/11/2020 22:58

Hi @ally99101. You must have so many emotions going on right now. Have you had your appointments by Zoom/phone? I'm finding that quite tough as it doesn't feel real.
