@Tasha1607 My wrist has healed so i've over the moon (clearly the small things in life we care about).

I stuck an order in at ASOS and M&S that should be arriving later on in the week so hopefully that should cover me for a while although we're going away next week and I don't have any maternity wear in the waterproof variety so i'm going to have to improvise.

Do you not think its mad what we had IUI's on different dates but still ended up with the same due date? Madness I say! Hows the sickness doing? Are you still riding the highs of the sickness tablets? I've had a couple of wobbles in the last few days just not feeling right but kept everything in the belly.

I'm getting excited about starting to feel babs moving around. Perhaps that will convince me that this is happening?! Grin

LifeIsBusy · 14/10/2020 07:53

@mabel9 OMG! I am literally over the moon for you!!!! AHHHH!!! Welcome on board the crazy train. How are you feeling? Hows your husband feeling? I am soo glad you stuck with it!!!!!!!

Heres hoping you get off a little earlier than @Tasha1607 and I.

LifeIsBusy · 14/10/2020 07:59

@BananaHammock23 Its a difficult situation to be in when you have friends that are going through the same thing. Initially I found it quite comforting as we had a number of friends going through the process with varying success rates and I remember feeling incredibly guilty when I found out I was pregnant with DS no1. I literally had just had a heart to heart with one of my friends and we weren't overly hopeful. Admittedly she'd been on the fertility journey a lot longer but we'd both thought that neither worked. Mine took and I didn't know if hers did but I couldn't face telling her. In the end hers didn't but she fell pregnant a few months later and now our boys are a couple of months apart.

Overall I still think its better to have that support system there as its something that should be talked about and often isn't and its a tough ride.

mabel9 · 14/10/2020 09:04

Thank you @Tasha1607 and @LifeIsBusy
I feel no different, I think I had more signs when I literally couldn’t get pregnant (last year) 🤣 Boobs are starting to feel tender now and that’s about it. My husband is very excited but also very cautious, as am I! We just really hope this works. Any tips? Very happy to have joined the gang!

@mabel9 I have no helpful tips, other than eat often if you start to feel ill but then I don't think that helped @Tasha1607. Ice poles made me feel fantastic for a good while.

I say you sit back and relax, the chances of something going wrong is the small percent compared to the number of healthy pregnancies. Its obviously over represented on forums because that's where people reach out for when things go wrong and not right.

mabel9 · 14/10/2020 09:35

Thank you @LifeIsBusy!
How are you doing? Have you had your 12 week scan now? Exciting!

OP posts:
LifeIsBusy · 14/10/2020 09:46

@mabel9 Had my first midwife appointment and 12 week scan. Everything is going just fine :). We just got our appointment through for 20week scan at the start of December. I mostly feel a lot better than I did in the previous few weeks which is nice. We've also started to tell more family and friends which is a little strange given we can't see anyone.

Have you got your 8week scan booked in with the clinic?

ally99101 · 14/10/2020 10:31

That's amazing news @mabel9 congratulations.

We were due to have our first IUI round this month. Day 10 bloods booked in for this Monday but just found out I have tested positive for coronavirus. So really disappointed and gutted we won't get the first round this month as we were so excited about finally having our first go, but hopefully we can go in November assuming we don't have to wait longer as a result of the positive test.

LifeIsBusy · 14/10/2020 11:08

@ally99101 What a nightmare! I'm really sorry so hopefully its only a temporary setback. How are you feeling?

ally99101 · 14/10/2020 16:32

Thanks @LifeIsBusy, I feel absolutely fine. Had a bit of a sore throat yeaterday otherwise just my usual self. Glad I got tested in the end as debated whether I should or not due to the lack of the usual/severe symptoms. If I had gone with the advice on the NHS website where you book your test technically I shouldn't have got a test as I don't have a cough, temp or loss of taste/smell. But my wife had the slightest cough on Monday night and I thought I don't want to get treatment or go to the clinic if I might have it which is what swayed me to get the test in the end. Technically only my wife should have got the test with her cough but strangely her results came back negative! So had we only got her tested she would have been negative and I would have went to the clinic on Monday.

The clinic were good to call me this afternoon and just check I was ok as I called them early this morning to cancel my Monday bloods so it was nice someone called back to check in and just said call again CD1 in November to get started again

BananaHammock23 · 15/10/2020 13:15

Oh wow @mabel9 congratulations!! You must be over the moon. Third time lucky eh! When we move to IVF it'll be our third round of treatment so hoping the same happens for us.

@ally99101 I'm so sorry to hear that, you must be gutted. We had two rounds of IUI abandoned on day 11/12 as I didn't respond to meds, so I know how it feels to get so close but not quite get there and really sympathise with you. Sending healing vibes your way and hope you're not suffering too much. I had covid in Feb and I felt rotten for 3 weeks but luckily it didn't get too bad. We're starting IVF in Nov so we'll be on the same timeline :)

BananaHammock23 · 15/10/2020 13:19

And thanks @LifeIsBusy - you're right about having the support system in place. One of my friends in particular has been an invaluable source of wisdom and support and this journey would've been a hell of a lot more lonely without her. They have been trying for a really long time so I have this horrible guilt hanging around about getting pregnant first when I'd love for it to happen to them. No point in getting ahead of myself though! I still feel as though the first round of IVF will be a bit 'experimental' as my first round of IUI was. We were able to work out what worked and what didn't but we still never had any success, so I'm still trying to get my head around the idea that IVF could work... Just 3 weeks to go until my next cycle!! How are you feeling??

LifeIsBusy · 15/10/2020 13:50

@ally99101 Covids a little insane how it can really destroy some peoples lives and others are just fine with a few sniffles. I have absolutely not idea whether or not i've already had it but I'm getting a little bored with the restrictions. Hows self-isolation treating you both? Well in a couple of weeks you'll have your first go, so fingers crossed for you.

Your clinic sounds great! I assume you're not having to pay for anything extra next cycle as you didn't offically use any of this cycle?

LifeIsBusy · 15/10/2020 13:58

@BananaHammock23 I think all the rounds of fertility treatments are a little bit of suck it and see but at least the chances of getting pregnant are much higher with IVF than IUI so you're in for a good shot :).

Regardless of what happens there aren't many people out there that want children that don't have them. There is always additional options out there so i'm confident you and your friend will have your families eventually.

I'm alright, mostly living in the high of the 2nd trimester coupled with the odd evening of wishing to vomit. Still don't think its sunk in yet despite the large stomach Confused

ally99101 · 15/10/2020 17:30

@LifeIsBusy isolation is ok, at least we have each other! We're the kind of people who prefer spending time at home anyway although I do like a good restaurant meal now and again. Although I find as soon as someone says you can't leave the house you suddenly want to get out when usually the prospect of chilling on the couch all weekend sounds like heaven!

Nothing to pay (as far as I'm aware!) as firstly appt was going to be bloods so we didn't get as far as our first visit to the clinic. That's one good thing I tried telling myself and my wife yesterday, at least we hadn't started so nothing was a waste of time and we haven't lost any money.

Glad to see you're doing well and riding that pregnancy high!

@BananaHammock23 thanks, hopefully November will be a good month for us both!!!

mabel9 · 16/10/2020 09:27

Thank you @BananaHammock23, I have everything crossed for your next round!
Thank you @ally99101, I’m so sorry you have contracted COVID 🙁 how are you feeling? Does it give you a big delay?

@LifeIsBusy oh wow, that’s great!! I’m glad you are feeling well too. Who knows when we can go to someone else’s home, hopefully for Xmas!
My 8 week scan is booked for 11th Nov, I’m not going to get excited till then! I just so hope this bubs sticks, I can’t even get excited yet I’m so worried (which is probably not good!)

ally99101 · 18/10/2020 21:50

@mabel9 we're doing good, I'm still fine with practically no symptoms which I'm really grateful for!

It should only put us back a month so I'm hoping first IUI will happen before the end of November and then need to decide, assuming our first go isn't successful, whether to go straight into attempt 2 in December. Part of me is thinking yes, the other part is thinking maybe I shouldn't be so determined to and accept that December is usually a more stressful time of year so it would be the smarter decision to wait until January. We shall see

Tasha1607 · 28/10/2020 23:09

@LifeIsBusy hi sorry for the late reply. My notifications stopped coming through so didn't realise anything was posted. And then suddenly thought I wonder what's going on with this chat.

The sickness has subsided I went on tablets for a few weeks and I've slowly come back off of them. I have bad days but nothing compared to before.

I do think it is mad. When did you start your IUI again? Mine was the 16th July. Let's see when these bubs actually come out. Be even stranger if that was the same date as well.

I have been to New Look they had a mass sale on their maternity gear so got a few top and nursing tops for after with some jeans. Can't beat anything on my stomach anymore.

How are you getting on with the pregnancy? Week 15!!!! It's gone so fast! I hear the heartbeat next Thursday. What about you?

Tasha1607 · 28/10/2020 23:10

@mabel9 how are you gettting on? How many weeks are you now? So happy for you! It gets more believable as the weeks go by. I'm in the same boat as @LifeIsBusy I think the movements will make me believe there is actually something in there

LifeIsBusy · 29/10/2020 13:56

@Tasha1607 I started going to the clinic from 22nd July and IUI happened on the 29th. I think it would be really weird if they came out on the same date! Insane.

My sickness hasn't totally gone yet either. The majority of the time I feel fine then I go through a phase where I just feel strange but its getting better.

I also have a midwife appointment next Thursday which i'll hopefully get to hear a heart beat :). Did you get all your screening back?

Oh thats great on new look and their sale! I managed to get a couple of non maternity things that will work so i'm quite happy. I also got over the bump leggings from asos which are amazing as they actually fit leg wise (im 5ft 10).

With regards to nursing tops, I found a lot of people preferred a tank top (the ones with really thin straps) with a looser jumper/t-shirt on top. Its a slightly less awkward combination to work with, esp when they go through phases of pulling at the surrounding material. I'm pretty sure everyone's seen my boobs thanks to DS and his nosiness.

I got a couple of under the bump loose leggings but one pair just rubbed on my severe stretch marks from DS so they're being returned :(. The other pair are great though.

LifeIsBusy · 29/10/2020 13:56

@ally99101 Has your 2 week isolation finished now? Are you all recovered? Roll on IUI!

LifeIsBusy · 29/10/2020 13:58

@mabel9 Not too long to go now! Are you having to travel back down to Glasgow or is there somewhere closer you can go to? I know this is probably a long way off but do you have a maternity hospital on the Island or will you need to come back mainland?

ally99101 · 29/10/2020 14:13

Thanks @LifeIsBusy, yes I'm now out of exile! Not sure I would say I've recovered as didn't really experience much to recover from but doing good thanks. About a week to 10 day out from my next cycle day 1 so excited to hopefully get started on the first round.

I thought I'd do something productive during October seeing as we had to postpone so I bought some clear blue ovulation tests to see if I could pinpoint ovulation, just thought it would be useful to know coming into the first round of treatment. Average cycle length of 32, tested day 15 to 21 and nothing. No smiley faces so didn't pick up ovulation.

Trying to tell myself I've probably just done it wrong or tested as the wrong time and missed it but it's made me really grateful that GCRM will be monitoring bloods from day 10 rather than using the ovulation kits as someone I know who had iui through GCRM a couple of years ago was telling me they only used OPK's but everything I've been reading suggests they're not terribly accurate.

The blood only monitoring still worries me a little, as much as I don't want an intravaginal scan everything other day, I think I would take more comfort from knowing that they're actually looking at my ovaries/follicles etc rather than just what the blood is saying. But will take bloods over OPK's any day!!!

How is everyone else doing?

mabel9 · 29/10/2020 14:22

Hi @Tasha1607 and @LifeIsBusy I hope you are both well. Unfortunately things have not been great and I miscarried. Thankfully I’m okay health wise but mentally I’m pretty drained. Good luck with your pregnancies, I hope I can be joining you sooner rather than later.

Tasha1607 · 29/10/2020 14:40

@LifeIsBusy
I think I got inseminated on 27th July. So that is really weird how it all has happened with the same date.

Oh brilliant. I haven't manage to find I've the bump legging so I'll have a look on ASOS thank you for that.

Yep screening came back I'm low risk so really happy with that.

Yeah I've got a shirt that is tank top underneath and then two layers that over cross itself for ease of access for bubs. But they only had one so I'll be keeping my eye for more like that as they are really comfortable.
